I live on an island on the river Medway, I’m told the defenses can expect to be breached by 5ft or so. If this happens every 20 years why are we not better prepared?

I caught the BBC1 7am headlines. Gt Yarmouth’s plight is only briefly mentioned, but at least the Thames Flood Barrier is down. That’ll keep the nation’s capital safe for another day. God, I hope no one in London gets flooded - that would be a catastrophe.

Oh my god thats so scary. It says this happens every 20 years? Is this likely to increase now, if the global warming that is reported is happening? oh I have nasty dreams about tidal waves every so often
