Madeleine McCann: A Bedroom, A bed And A Blanket
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “FIRST PIC OF SNATCH SCENE – INSIDE MADDY’S BEDROOM”
A picture of the holiday bedroom from where Madeleine McCann vanished. Useful. Perhaps seeing it will jog your memory…
The Mirror highlights three areas of the room:
DOOR: “LAST LOOK. Dad Gerry last saw his daughter form this door”
BED: “HER BED - “Rumpled covers and pillow on mattress”
WALLS: “UNTOUCHED – Room is as it was after police forensic team finished work”
We commend to your attention the shards of sardine roll, cigarette ash dropping and big footprints
The picture is an “EXCLUSIVE”
MADDY COPS WANTS McCANNS SILENCED” – A plan to do harm to Kate and Gerry McCann?
Almost as bad: “Portuguese police may gag Madeleine McCann’s parents by keeping them suspects for the next 15 years.” So too Robert Murat. This one has along way to run
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – THE HUNT SWITCHES TO BOSNIA AFTER NEW SIGHTING”
Page 9: “Tourist spotted Madeleine – I heard her yell: ‘I want my daddy’”
The Express hears news from Medugorje, Bosnia, the site of a Catholic shrine. As reported on Anorak, the man sees a girl who looks like Madeleine. He reports it to local police. Police shrug. He tells the McCanns’ private detective firm. They check the expense account. They respond
The “father of six”, from County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, who asked not to be named, says: “From the minute I saw them, there seemed to be something odd going on. They both had a very swarthy complexion and the toddler with them was a blonde, fair child.” Dark, you say?
“She was wearing a little pink coat and was very agitated and sobbing. The instant I saw her my heart skipped a beat because it struck me that she looked like Madeleine McCann. I felt sure there was something wrong and started to move towards them. As they saw me coming, they started walking faster away from me. I was sure the child they had was not theirs. I got right up beside them, and was about to speak to the child when the man put his hand over her mouth and shoved her into the car. He was pushing her into the back seat and was yelling in a language I didn’t understand.”
“First look at bedroom” – Unless you have already seen the Mirror that is
“New nightmare as McCanns could be suspects for 15 years” – Says Francisco Pagarete, Robert Murat’s lawyer: “The problem is that in Portugal a suspect can remain an arguido for 15 years without any need for police to reapply or extend the status”
No problem for the press
THE SUN page 11: “MADDIE;S BEDROOM.” This is the “FIRST PICTURE” of “Inside the McCann holiday flat”
For those readers unfamiliar with the contents of a “bedroom”, the Sun uses an arrow pointing towards a box-shaped presence and tells us: “Bed she was in before she went missing.” A second arrow points to a “Blanket”
Clarence Mitchell hears of the sighting in Bosnia. Says he:”We are not dismissing it. The witness was 99.9 per cent certain the child was not with her natural parents”
DAILY MAIL page 19: “First photo of Maddie flat as hunt switches to Bosnia”
“Its narrow beds have been stripped of their sheets so they can be analysed for evidence”
And in Bosnia, the “very swarthy” people are with Madeleine. Like the man in Belgian, perhaps…
DAILY STAR page 9: “BOMBSHELL BOOK POINTS FINGER AT MADDIE PARENTS”
Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia have written Maddie 129. the Star says the book claims some of the Tapas Seven “had already given up searching for Madeleine and were in their own flats 90 minutes after the alarm was raised because ‘they already knew where she was’”
An American artist has been employed by the Star to make Madeleine’s hair from blonde to dark. (Non-experts can use a felt tip or boot polish)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “MADELEINE DETECTIVES CHECK NEW SIGHTING AT BOSNIAN SHRINE”
Page 7: Says Clarence Mitchell: “But as with all these reports, the McCanns refuse to raise their hopes until it has been investigated fully”
NEW YORK TIMES: “European Tabloids Still Agog Months After Child Vanishes”
“Six months after Madeleine McCann, then 3 years old, disappeared from her family’s vacation apartment in Portugal, no development in the case seems too small to merit a banner headline — even the news that her father had returned to his job as a doctor. Similarly, no story is too speculative”
THE GUARDIAN, THE INDEPENDENT and THE TIMES: No Madeleine news

If you would like further proof of the masonic link, then take a U.S. one dollar bill and look at the reverse. On the left is a pyramid with the top cut off and an eye above it. This is known to be a masonic symbol, and also it is common knowledge that the current one dollar bill was designed by a Freemason. Now, take a magnifying glass and look closely at the eye. Notice anything. Can you see the mark? A very distinct mark, a very FAMOUS mark? Maddie’s abduction was planned long before she ever set foot on that plane to portugal
just lifted this off another web blog that beleives there is a link to the freemasons,

Lawyer from ‘Tapas 1′: “The lobby surrounding the McCann is frightening”
The lawyer from one of the persons that wants to change his testimony criticizes the lobby around the parents of Madeleine – story published in “El Mundo”, November 11, 2007
“My client must keep secret… this is not due to the law secrecy in Portugal. That is is quite revealing of the strange circumstances around this case”, says the lawyer of one of the two …[Tapas9 who]… decided to have a close cooperation with Police, as “El Mundo” published, last Tuesday. “He is not afraid of the McCann but the economic and political lobby that exists, around that couple, frightens any person.”
“Police was called only after the group analysed the problems they could face for having left the children alone…”
This last statement is a an admission that Tapas9 first considered their child neglect BEFORE calling the police. The implication is that there was a discussion that included the formation of alibis.
———————————–
“… and until now, my client had no chance to talk for himself”, the London-based lawyer said. Since September, he represents one of the two friends of the McCann that contacted police and asked for an opportunity to be requestioned, in order to correct some details and discrepancies of the statements made by the group of nine persons that were on holidays at Ocean Club….”
This seems to indicate that each of the Tapas2 have their own lawyer. Notice that according to this lawyer, his client wants to CORRECT THE STATMENTS MADE BY THE TAPAS9, not only the statements made by the client (Tapas1).
—————————————
“What my client wants is to get the truth out – meaning, he is not there to accuse or to clear anyone, that’s a police job. He just wants to help police to know the truth about what happened before, during and after that diner, on May 3.”
Naturally, he is in effect saying that the police do not know the truth, becasue Tapas9 have not told them the truth.
—————————————-
“Asked to comment the denial from Clarence Mitchell, the McCann spokesman who claimed he has been in touch with all the seven McCann friends and all of them told they gave no instructions to their lawyers to contact police and be requestioned, the British lawyer said: “When you look at all the pressure that has been put up over him and others, it’s natural that my client would not tell Clarence Mitchell he decided to have his own legal representation and a more close cooperation with police.””
The Tapas1 client has alleged that he/she was unable to tell the truth due to pressure from the “economic and political lobby that exists, around” the McCanns. Now here it is alleged that due to similar pressure Tapas1 HAS NOT CONFIDED in Clarence Mitchell. These are some fairly strong allegations and revelations, that tend to indicate coercement if not by the McCanns, then through the McCanns. Were some of the Tapas7 coerced into their “pact of silence”? That could bring even more criminal charges against the McCanns.
———————————————
“A strong critic of the Media frenzy about Madeleine’s disappearance, the lawyer of this member of Tapas group considers that the case is “much more serious” than most people thinks:”
A little ambiguous. The case is MUCH MORE serious than an abduction?
——————————————
“I don’t want to accuse anyone, but there are people close to the McCann that is not really helping them. However, my client intention is to bring the truth out, in this sad story, no matter who gets hurt.”
Less ambiguity there.
“The support the McCann had from the Government is another aspect the lawyer criticises: “I understand that our Government had the legal obligation to help the McCann. What I don’t understand is that they received such a help that goes further and over anything that would be normal, for a case like this. But, since the the first hours, it was clear that Madeleine’s case was not just a normal police case. My client had no support, at all, from the British authorities – only through the McCann couple.””
This is an interesting angle — the McCanns got an over-abundance of support but the Tapas7 got NO SUPPORT except that which came through the McCanns. This is a way of saying that powerful forces behind the McCanns bestowed an enormous power on the McCanns to pressure the Tapas7.
Overall, this statement by the lawyer is unambiguous and forceful. After such a statement, you would expect that his client is going to reveal something very significant.
“Questioned about the British Government involvement and political connections related with the case, the London-based lawyer said: “It’s not my job to explain why and how politicians had intervened in this case, but I’m afraid that those interventions have been prejudicial not only to my client, but also to the search for the truth.””
He actually reiterates the point that intervention has put pressure on his client and hindered the search for the truth.
After reading this, you just have to wonder what these Tapas2 are going to reveal.

The reason I am so obsessed with this drama is that it is so patently obvious and has been since the 1st McCann interview, that they are lying. Not only is a sweet young child missing but the perpetrators are desperately trying to wriggle their slippery way out of it, earning big bucks at the same time. Sadly, my instincts say that Madeleine is dead and this is backed up by the forensic evidence. Other posters have convinced me that there is a political cover up and, of course, this makes the drama even more compelling. We want justice.

Bosnia has a minority Muslim population. They were left behind by the Ottoman Empire.

95. Brandon Flours, Very nice of you! I’ve returned my share of lost wallets. One stuffed with cash at Christmas time. But I’m not RC.

Sky News just said current thinking on the abduction story is that the abductor went into the apartment through the unlocked patio doors, and then either left the same way or went out the front door.
There are no signs that the shutters were forced. Gerry lied to his Mother on the night then. So, innocent or guilty - they were covering up after themselves.

91. Shield of Truth.
Morocco and Saudi Arabia are Muslim countries right? They started off with Spain but quickly changed their tune. Although now Bosnia is in the mix. But isn’t Bosnia largely Muslim too? Although Spain has its share of Muslim citizens - not enough for a proper McCann monster?

I can see myself being charged with ‘work neglect’ so I must bid you farewell and say it’s been a pleasure, I’m well and truly hooked and shall meet with you all later. X

I agree. I posted on Friday morning saying that the Maddie story and property prices were 2 things to keep the middle classes distracted.
I just think there’s something bigger.

84. Neither Pro nor Anti,
You are a true optimist! I don’t think anything will come of this case - at least not for many many years. And I feel by the time any ‘breaking’ evidence is brought to light - it will still not be a strong enough to prosecute.
There are too many powerful people, known and unknown, supporting the McCanns and maybe a few other unknown persons. I don’t think the government and wealthy patrons like Branson would be involved for only the McCann’s sake. I believe there has to be another part of the puzzle which we do not know at this time.

Maicen….. OFF TOPIC. having a personal ‘connection’ with your health issues I can see how you feel about Kylie! I went into a frenzy when she received an award for her ‘bravery in fighting cancer’. Oh right! so everyone else just rolls over and gives up then?? Grrrrrrr good wishes for your treatment that is a bugger. x

ere some of us catholics are good!
I found a surgeons brief case in the park this morning my sniffer cocker spaniel found it in the bushes.
I rang the police and owner ( his surgeons badge was hanging out)
so I took it home and told them.
I have not gone inside and looked at all the documents or anything.
His secretary said it was taken while he read his newspaper on the train and was pleased i found it.

Ensam i tystnaden.

86. Macien, You are a strong soul! Much stronger than me! It will grow back more lush and beautiful. Eeeew Minogue is just awful. For now, perhaps creative wraps with silk gypsy handkerchiefs? Justs make sure you aren’t near a blonde little girl when wearing bohemian gypsy fashions.
Get well soon!

hey, now that’s some kind of conspiracy theory you’re coming up with. Frightening but very plausible.
Lets bomb all the countries where ’swarthy paedos’ may have taken maddie. Now thats something even Sun and Mail readers can get excited about.

Rosemary 75 - thanks.
The last couple of sentences make some very serious accusations - suggesting that the British government’s intervention in this case has not contributed to finding the truth. (even implying that the Tapas person in question has been silence for being afraid of the british government?)
I wonder why this article has not been given any coverage in the UK???
Surely, these are very serious accusations - they would deserve some commentary (not from Clarence Mitchell) but from some government spokesperson.
It’s time for people in Britain to start asking WHAT exactly has been the role of the British government in this case - and WHY?
Or do we have to wait until the next EU summit to question Gordon Brown about Madeleine?

I think a lot of sightings are genuine in the eye of the beholder…. they WANT it to be her so much they convince themselves.
The others are modern day bounty hunters!! There’s a big reward on the table so its worth flying a kite on the off-chance.
The thought of £2,000,000 can easily help the eyesight malfunction. in fact I’m sure I saw madeleine at Colchester Zoo the other day……
November 12th, 2007 at 10:01 am
….’the economic and political lobby’….
very interesting phrase. Let’s call them EPL for ease…so I wonder why they are so keen that we all carry on discussing this case?
What else is going on that they need us and the popular press speculating on this all the time?
This could go on for years………

Ta muchly…….. It is getting frigging cold with a bald dome.!!!! However been here and done this before in 1994.

81. They appear hell-bent on creating a shape-shifting universal (as long as the napper-paedo is “swarthy” skinned) boogie man with which to brainwash the public.
Nazis used this very same strategy. Starting with Jews and then on to other scapegoats to inflame the masses. So they widdened their agenda to include homosexuals, gypsies and mystical people like astrologers.

76 - Hi Karen, I’ve only ever posted under this name, the first time being last night on the ‘Window of Opportunity thread’, totally hooked now !!!
77 - Thea, I despise the actions of the McCann’s and can’t believe how utterly selfish or bloody naive they were to leave their children whilst they went out to dine. It is bad enough leaving children of that age alone but to leave the door unlocked, my goodness what were they thinking ????
Mind you it never ceases to amaze me when I’m on holiday how many times I’ve witnessed parents taking their sleeping children back to their rooms and then reappear without them to carry on the night, it disgusts me.
I do believe that Kate and Gerry won’t get away with neglecting their chilren on that fateful night, when the case is closed I think we’ll see some charges being brought.

What annoys me most with these so-called sightings is that NOT one of them have called her name ? FFS, if I thought I’d seen Maddie I’d call her name to see if I get a response these people seem to do bugger all.

You shouldn’t get “annoyed” at these fairy tale sightings. There was no need to call out because the event never happened. Just make sure before reading any of these McCann-Metodo 3 fairy tales that you have ample bread crumbs so you may return home.

70 - I too share the hopes that Madeleine is alive somewhere. (most of us here I think irrespective of our thoughts on the McCanns hope for Madeleine’s safe return).
However, I’m more cautious about judging El Mundo’s article as “Media speculation”.
To be fair, they are a credible newspaper (more credible than any british broadsheet if you ask me), they have not been linked to speculation in the Madeleine story and they have repeated the story initially on Tuesday and now last Sunday. (that would be a very silly thing to do if they were not sure about what they were printing).
One thing that intrigued me last week (when Clarence came out (first time) to deny that any of the lawyers of the Tapas 7 had contacted PJ) is the fact that they actually have hired lawyers (since September apparently). If they are not suspects, why would they hire lawyers? After I’ve learnt that, I believe that there’s a lot behind this story that we don’t know…
