Madeleine McCann: A Bedroom, A bed And A Blanket
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “FIRST PIC OF SNATCH SCENE – INSIDE MADDY’S BEDROOM”
A picture of the holiday bedroom from where Madeleine McCann vanished. Useful. Perhaps seeing it will jog your memory…
The Mirror highlights three areas of the room:
DOOR: “LAST LOOK. Dad Gerry last saw his daughter form this door”
BED: “HER BED - “Rumpled covers and pillow on mattress”
WALLS: “UNTOUCHED – Room is as it was after police forensic team finished work”
We commend to your attention the shards of sardine roll, cigarette ash dropping and big footprints
The picture is an “EXCLUSIVE”
MADDY COPS WANTS McCANNS SILENCED” – A plan to do harm to Kate and Gerry McCann?
Almost as bad: “Portuguese police may gag Madeleine McCann’s parents by keeping them suspects for the next 15 years.” So too Robert Murat. This one has along way to run
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – THE HUNT SWITCHES TO BOSNIA AFTER NEW SIGHTING”
Page 9: “Tourist spotted Madeleine – I heard her yell: ‘I want my daddy’”
The Express hears news from Medugorje, Bosnia, the site of a Catholic shrine. As reported on Anorak, the man sees a girl who looks like Madeleine. He reports it to local police. Police shrug. He tells the McCanns’ private detective firm. They check the expense account. They respond
The “father of six”, from County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, who asked not to be named, says: “From the minute I saw them, there seemed to be something odd going on. They both had a very swarthy complexion and the toddler with them was a blonde, fair child.” Dark, you say?
“She was wearing a little pink coat and was very agitated and sobbing. The instant I saw her my heart skipped a beat because it struck me that she looked like Madeleine McCann. I felt sure there was something wrong and started to move towards them. As they saw me coming, they started walking faster away from me. I was sure the child they had was not theirs. I got right up beside them, and was about to speak to the child when the man put his hand over her mouth and shoved her into the car. He was pushing her into the back seat and was yelling in a language I didn’t understand.”
“First look at bedroom” – Unless you have already seen the Mirror that is
“New nightmare as McCanns could be suspects for 15 years” – Says Francisco Pagarete, Robert Murat’s lawyer: “The problem is that in Portugal a suspect can remain an arguido for 15 years without any need for police to reapply or extend the status”
No problem for the press
THE SUN page 11: “MADDIE;S BEDROOM.” This is the “FIRST PICTURE” of “Inside the McCann holiday flat”
For those readers unfamiliar with the contents of a “bedroom”, the Sun uses an arrow pointing towards a box-shaped presence and tells us: “Bed she was in before she went missing.” A second arrow points to a “Blanket”
Clarence Mitchell hears of the sighting in Bosnia. Says he:”We are not dismissing it. The witness was 99.9 per cent certain the child was not with her natural parents”
DAILY MAIL page 19: “First photo of Maddie flat as hunt switches to Bosnia”
“Its narrow beds have been stripped of their sheets so they can be analysed for evidence”
And in Bosnia, the “very swarthy” people are with Madeleine. Like the man in Belgian, perhaps…
DAILY STAR page 9: “BOMBSHELL BOOK POINTS FINGER AT MADDIE PARENTS”
Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia have written Maddie 129. the Star says the book claims some of the Tapas Seven “had already given up searching for Madeleine and were in their own flats 90 minutes after the alarm was raised because ‘they already knew where she was’”
An American artist has been employed by the Star to make Madeleine’s hair from blonde to dark. (Non-experts can use a felt tip or boot polish)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “MADELEINE DETECTIVES CHECK NEW SIGHTING AT BOSNIAN SHRINE”
Page 7: Says Clarence Mitchell: “But as with all these reports, the McCanns refuse to raise their hopes until it has been investigated fully”
NEW YORK TIMES: “European Tabloids Still Agog Months After Child Vanishes”
“Six months after Madeleine McCann, then 3 years old, disappeared from her family’s vacation apartment in Portugal, no development in the case seems too small to merit a banner headline — even the news that her father had returned to his job as a doctor. Similarly, no story is too speculative”
THE GUARDIAN, THE INDEPENDENT and THE TIMES: No Madeleine news

I THINK THIS CASE IS A GOOD WITNESS OF HOW CORRUPTION, MANIPULATION, RACISM AND XENOPHOBIA FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND RICH PEOPLE IS OVERTAKING THE UK.
WHY DON’T YOU BRITISH PPL JUMP TO THE STREETS ASKING FOR ANSWERS AND HONESTY FROM THOSE YOU LET GOVERN YOUR COUNTRY??
AREN’T YOU IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY??
YOU CAN SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT ABOUT PORTUGAL, BUT THERE, WHEN THE PEOPLE FEEL THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT BEING CLEAR AND HONEST, YOU CAN COUNT THE DAYS THAT YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THE POWER.

Quite true Chloe.
I was merely adding my pennyworth to
the queries re the imminent burial which
has been raised elsewhere.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:21 pm
We still don’t know very much about Baby Grace. To me, it looks like someone was attempting to bury a small child on a desert island and got spooked, left the child in its makeshift coffin and fled.
Whoever Baby Grace is, the poor babe was most likely a victim of domestic violence. I don’t think she will be one of the missing girls who are thought to have been taken by a non-custodial parent.
I will be very surprised if Baby Grace turns out to be Maddie, but from a purely statistical point of view I can readily see that there is a greater possibility that the babe is Maddie than a child who was desperately wanted by a non-custodial parent.
I’m glad Stevo is tracking this down. I don’t understand why citizens have to be the ones on the ball when we pay for so much expensive and seemingly ineffective government services.

701. Garth, will all due respect - I have said many times that I do not know exactly what happened to M but I do very much believe they, like the British authorities and police, know much more than they let on.
“They have turned their daughter into a a porn queen for paedo everywhere. Obviously, their viral marketing campaigns have not worked to serve any logical function other than to turn global paedophiles on daily”;
————————————————————————————————————————-
How do you work that one out? That to me is a really weird concept. And of course, we are talking in hindsight arent we. I mean, on the flip side, there was every chance she could of been found.
————————————————————————————————————————-
…” deflect serious criticism of themselves and their own personal responsibililty in this mess; to divert attention to endless leaked rumours”,
———————————————————————————————————————-
Some pretty damning slurs dont you think. What would you do……..let it ride?
————————————————————————————————————————
“……..innuendo and juvenile slurs against Portuguese culture and people but has not managed to entice anyone to step forward with credible info on M and collect the handsome reward”.
———————————————————————————————————————-
So how do you entice someone to step forward with any credible info? The money didnt work.
———————————————————————————————————————
“If their campaign was executed with the serious intention of finding Madeleine quickly and before she is murdered - then the campaign is a complete and total failure”.
——————————————————————————————————————–
So their campaign wasnt serious? Well well. Oh and she’s murdered? Do we know that?
———————————————————————————————————————
“If it was to reach any of the above objectives I sited or the campaign and fund was created to make K& G famous then they suceeded”
———————————————————————————————————————
Well you’ve cracked it then. That must have been their objective. They must have thought ’sod their daughter, who gives a monkeys anyway. Plenty go missing and dont get the same publicity as we’ve given Madeleine. Just look at all those that go missing in the good ol’ U.S. OF A. Did they get any recognition? No. Now leave us all alone please so we can continue our ‘get famous’ campaign”.
Do I need to add anything?

That may well be true. I was not saying my hypothesis is fact, just that it was a hypothesis. I made that hypothesis without reference to Morgans statement. I just said I found it ‘interesting’ excuse me for breathing.
————————————-
My apologies; I read your post as suggesting that your hypothesis was supported by Piers Merchant’s comments.
And please carry on breathing; I’m fairly sure that you would be unable to carry on posting if you gave up on that…

You’re probably right. I was just clarifying to Pilimary that, at least in the UK, funeral and burial are more or less synonomous since she appeared to be making a distinction between them in her post.

I think the confusion arose when the US
Police Department dealing with BG’s case
announced that “people were already sending
in Donations for BG’s Burial”
Not that they intended to have BG buried just yet.

Not sure about the US, but in the UK, a funeral is what takes place when there is a burial or a cremation. If they have a church service at a later date, it’s usually called a memorial service or similar. This, as I understand it, means that if they are raising money for a funeral for BG, it’s in order to bury/cremate her. In other words, Spanish “funeral” = English “memorial service”. English “funeral” = Spanish “entierro/incineración”.

stevo. yr new web site. When the DNA results come back and demonstrate that the body of the child found in the USA is not Madeleine Mccann will you take down the page linking MM to this finding.
Will you then rework the page to as a crusade to findout who this unfortunate child is and dedicate it to find ing the evil person responsible for commiting such act…… or will you just stay focussed on Madeleine Mccann.
Also when showing the plotted route did you investigate the tidal path covering the whole of the Atlantic along with local tide paths into Galvaston Bay. Your are aware I take it that it is important to plot the tidal routes in specific localations when bodies are washed ashore.
Look forward to your reply. No rush any time will do.

Isn’t part of the issue here that if media rumours are to be believed the PJ believe they have proof that Madeleine is unfortunately dead?
That being their belief, the sooner they are able to publish/test that alleged proof the better?

“They obviously ate her according to an ancient Celtic cannabalistic rite which is always celebrated close to Beltaine as the moon is waxing.”
You have been reading about the Lindy Chamberlain case haven’t you?
Given that I claim both Scottish and Irish ancestry, I feel duty bound to put you straight. The Celts originally observed such practices being undertaken by the Romans. Since they were considered ‘civilised’, the Celts copied certain of their practices, including this one, in an effort to raise their game in the civilised stakes.

“667. I trust all designer’s implicitly. You might be right Steve T. But being swarthy skinned myself - you cannot blame me if I am a little leary of authorities and certain people from the charming British Isles. I am often asked if I am Persian or Turkish when I am in the UK. Yet I am never asked this in the US - and I think this hell hole is pretty racist.
I wonder if a black British person were made a suspect in the murder of a child if the UK government would be so heavily involved in protecting this person considering civil rights laws were not on the books in this heavenly democracy until 1968? And it has been proven that organised racist groups like the KKK were in US government.”
There is racism in the UK, but generally we are a very tolerant nation. The colour of a persons skin would not make any difference to how the goverment protected that person, but the information that they are party to may well do.
I am white, but once went out with a black girl. Her sister had a baby, and sometimes we would go out around town with the baby. Some of the looks I got from people were quite disturbing, with people thinking I was the father. That was the first time that I saw racism first hand. That was 25 years ago, and things have moved on a lot.

Re: Piers Merchant
Really, if this is the best British politics can give, thank goodness I don’t live there!! I find the letter really disgusting. Has this idiot never travelled further than his own front door? Does he not know that Portugal is a member of the European Union like the UK? Does he really think it’s still a third-world dictatorship? I find it embarrassing to be British when I read things like this.
