Madeleine McCann: A Bedroom, A bed And A Blanket
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “FIRST PIC OF SNATCH SCENE – INSIDE MADDY’S BEDROOM”
A picture of the holiday bedroom from where Madeleine McCann vanished. Useful. Perhaps seeing it will jog your memory…
The Mirror highlights three areas of the room:
DOOR: “LAST LOOK. Dad Gerry last saw his daughter form this door”
BED: “HER BED - “Rumpled covers and pillow on mattress”
WALLS: “UNTOUCHED – Room is as it was after police forensic team finished work”
We commend to your attention the shards of sardine roll, cigarette ash dropping and big footprints
The picture is an “EXCLUSIVE”
MADDY COPS WANTS McCANNS SILENCED” – A plan to do harm to Kate and Gerry McCann?
Almost as bad: “Portuguese police may gag Madeleine McCann’s parents by keeping them suspects for the next 15 years.” So too Robert Murat. This one has along way to run
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – THE HUNT SWITCHES TO BOSNIA AFTER NEW SIGHTING”
Page 9: “Tourist spotted Madeleine – I heard her yell: ‘I want my daddy’”
The Express hears news from Medugorje, Bosnia, the site of a Catholic shrine. As reported on Anorak, the man sees a girl who looks like Madeleine. He reports it to local police. Police shrug. He tells the McCanns’ private detective firm. They check the expense account. They respond
The “father of six”, from County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, who asked not to be named, says: “From the minute I saw them, there seemed to be something odd going on. They both had a very swarthy complexion and the toddler with them was a blonde, fair child.” Dark, you say?
“She was wearing a little pink coat and was very agitated and sobbing. The instant I saw her my heart skipped a beat because it struck me that she looked like Madeleine McCann. I felt sure there was something wrong and started to move towards them. As they saw me coming, they started walking faster away from me. I was sure the child they had was not theirs. I got right up beside them, and was about to speak to the child when the man put his hand over her mouth and shoved her into the car. He was pushing her into the back seat and was yelling in a language I didn’t understand.”
“First look at bedroom” – Unless you have already seen the Mirror that is
“New nightmare as McCanns could be suspects for 15 years” – Says Francisco Pagarete, Robert Murat’s lawyer: “The problem is that in Portugal a suspect can remain an arguido for 15 years without any need for police to reapply or extend the status”
No problem for the press
THE SUN page 11: “MADDIE;S BEDROOM.” This is the “FIRST PICTURE” of “Inside the McCann holiday flat”
For those readers unfamiliar with the contents of a “bedroom”, the Sun uses an arrow pointing towards a box-shaped presence and tells us: “Bed she was in before she went missing.” A second arrow points to a “Blanket”
Clarence Mitchell hears of the sighting in Bosnia. Says he:”We are not dismissing it. The witness was 99.9 per cent certain the child was not with her natural parents”
DAILY MAIL page 19: “First photo of Maddie flat as hunt switches to Bosnia”
“Its narrow beds have been stripped of their sheets so they can be analysed for evidence”
And in Bosnia, the “very swarthy” people are with Madeleine. Like the man in Belgian, perhaps…
DAILY STAR page 9: “BOMBSHELL BOOK POINTS FINGER AT MADDIE PARENTS”
Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia have written Maddie 129. the Star says the book claims some of the Tapas Seven “had already given up searching for Madeleine and were in their own flats 90 minutes after the alarm was raised because ‘they already knew where she was’”
An American artist has been employed by the Star to make Madeleine’s hair from blonde to dark. (Non-experts can use a felt tip or boot polish)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “MADELEINE DETECTIVES CHECK NEW SIGHTING AT BOSNIAN SHRINE”
Page 7: Says Clarence Mitchell: “But as with all these reports, the McCanns refuse to raise their hopes until it has been investigated fully”
NEW YORK TIMES: “European Tabloids Still Agog Months After Child Vanishes”
“Six months after Madeleine McCann, then 3 years old, disappeared from her family’s vacation apartment in Portugal, no development in the case seems too small to merit a banner headline — even the news that her father had returned to his job as a doctor. Similarly, no story is too speculative”
THE GUARDIAN, THE INDEPENDENT and THE TIMES: No Madeleine news

…….The scary thing about Paedophiles is they don’t think they are doing any wrong and come across as being ‘normal’….very friendly, pleasant and trustworthy!!!!! To them children’s rights don’t exist and they believe that children are on this earth to satisfy their sick needs.
**********************
I agree and the scarey thing about the McCanns is that they are not only parents but supposedly well respected doctors who should be trained in signs sexual abuse of children so that when they are presented with such evidence they notify the authorities immediately. That’s the law in the US and would find it highly unusual if those in the medical profession in the UK were not also bound by such a law?
Even more frightening is that the McCanns did not respect the rights of their own children when they left their 3 year old in charge of watching her 2 year old twin siblings so they could go out drinking and play a quiz show - AND left the doors unlocked.
I pity children of any class who have such disrespectful parents. And I pity people who aaare hoodwinked by class and profession when it comes to perpetrators of crime.

I don’t think the false sightings are for money or fame - I think they probably just want to help find Madeleine so much that they convince themselves they’ve seen her when they haven’t.

Yes, Murat was formally made “arguido” on 14 May. So it’ll be 6 months on the 14 November (Wednesday).
This weekend his lawyer has requested the lifting of his status as official suspect and explained that he’d probably stay as a suspect without charges or evidence against him. The fact that the lawyer has come out to the media explaining in such great detail that he may stay as a suspect but there’s no evidence or charges, to me suggests that he already knows full well that Murat will remain arguido, and just wants to make sure that people will not start again relating him to Madeleine’s disappearance. More like a “damage limitation exercise”.
IMO.

Macien, Please forgive me! I forgot about your treatment. I think I read a comment from you a few days ago full of humour about your mind being “mush”? Not true at all! I have you in my meditations. Be well.

What I don’t get is why the hypothetical members of the T9 who want to change their stories don’t just phone the PJ/go to Portugal and do it. Why has it been announced in advance?
REPLY: Because it is a load of b******s, yet more media speculation ! If they wanted to change their stories they would’ve done so by now!

42. Lyn, I agree but guess they would have to go out at times and maybe it is safer to take her than leave her alone where she could escape. I am still convinced she is alive and she will be found. Call it maternal instinct.
REPLY: Lisa like you I am convinced she is alive but I don’t agree that it would be safer to take Madeleine with them when they go out. I don’t think anyone would risk being seen with her. I think all the so-called sightings are a bit far-fetched and are either 1. to try and throw us off the scent of where she really is, 2. people just looking for their moment of glory by getting their name in the papers (and of course a nice wad of cash to go with).
I’m sure whoever has Madeleine would just lock her in a room if they needed to go out. It’s been 6 months now and assuming that she’s not being abused in someway Madeleine would’ve started to look at her captives as her family and wouldn’t try to escape, her parents will probably be a distant memory by now…….it’s so sad. My daughter is 3 and the thought of her being away from her family for 6 months doesn’t bear thinking about.
48 - Thea,
So true, it amazes me how many people in the UK are so naive when it comes to safeguarding their children…they need to open their eyes with regards to the huge problem of child trafficking and Paedophilia.
The scary thing about Paedophiles is they don’t think they are doing any wrong and come across as being ‘normal’….very friendly, pleasant and trustworthy!!!!! To them children’s rights don’t exist and they believe that children are on this earth to satisfy their sick needs.

Perhaps it would suit the McCs and colleagues to be declared “arguidos” as that would exempt them from being questioned by anybody as they, supposedly, would not be allowed to respond (even through friends?)…. ‘”I’m not at liberty to say anything in case it harms the search for Madeleine in outer Siberia…”
However, I am wondering whether a person suspected of being involved in an abduction and a possible murder would be allowed to travel freely anywhere in the world? Are there no penalties or disadvantages to being so designated? Would it be a disadvantage in job applications?

Many thanks for that. Didn’t realise his initial arguido status is up on Wed. Are you in that part of the world?
I would agree, by the way, that (3) would be the logical option for the PJ at this stage.

True… but the young American suspect girl must have been following McCann story because she has changed her story..again..version 3 already .!!!!
PJ should certainly have Q the Maca’s more intensely and harshly but hey they have high powered pals .
What is the bet the Irishman in Bosnia also lived in Holland and knows the McCann’s.Yet another diversionary ruse.

Watched program on TV re the problem..kids abducted & sold there to who-ever wants them.
From there travel to wherever - USA - ma & pa for example. It said the trade was a billion dollar trade. Romania has a problem with abandoned children for instance, and they go missing as not too many orphanages around. Like everyone else I hope she will be found, but doubt it somehow. I think we have talked about this before.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:30 am
62. Macien, Yes. I was agreeing with Solaris or wasn’t that clear? I also posted articles about exploited children in the UK because I thought Lyn might have been interested in learning more about trafficking but I guess not.

Possibly because it is the West that buys the children .?

Batman 55;
I understand you have 3 possible options with Murat’s status on Wednesday:
1 - They remove his arguido status and archive the file with evidence that suggested his involvement. This would be possible only if new evidence in the investigation suggests that he WAS NOT involved.
2 - They press charges against Murat (with evidence for his involvement in Madeleine McCanns disappearance). The process will then follow to the equivalent to the Crown Court in the UK.
3 - They decide to extend his arguido status indefinitively. For this to happen they’ll have to show that there are still active lines of investigation, and they need to give a justification for the extension. The justification is most likely to be along the lines of “since there are foreign nationals involved the investigation process takes longer and therefore we need more time before possible charges).
The most likely is 3 and things will stay as they are ie We will not have access to the files.
In either 1 or 2 (archiving the file or pressing charges) the file of evidence on Murat would be made public. But also because there may be details that the PJ will not want to disclose to the public in Murat’s file, it is likely that they’ll go for option 3.
IMO - but maybe I’m wrong.

In this case I can only deduce that Baby A is male and the others female. Our two kittens (now aged 6 months) are male and female. He weighs about twice as much as she does!

Not sure about the validity of that article in the Mirror, is this more make-it-up-as-you-go-along-journalism-because-we-are-all-going-to-be-sued-anyway!! I thought there was a very specific time limit on the initial ‘arguido’ status and that Robert Murat’s period was due up any day now. My understanding is that the arguido status could then be prolonged.
All along we are being told the main suspects are KM and GM with Robert Murat still in tow. People here (including me) suspect that there may be involvement with one of the other Tapas7 men regarding helping to move a body. But none of the other Tapas are official suspects.
I thought we were told the PJ said that they were no longer considering Murat as being involved - if so will they not just allow his initial arguido status to lapse.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:15 am
Good questions Sherlock. I spit my tea out laughing hysterically when I read that they are now claiming, along with Metodo 3, that a wealthy Saudi snatched Madeleine as “trophy” sex slave. I was thinking, “Does this wealthy Saudi (a sheikh perhaps?) live in the Rif mts?” And if he does wouldn’t he be easy to find? Oh but he kidnapped M from PdL and then had her taken to Saudi Arabia where Metodo 3 is actively searching for her? So, like you, I too wonder what happened to the McCann-Metdodo 3 convictions she was in Spain and then ever more fervent claims she’s in Morocco?

My son has decided, and the wife and I have conceeded that Baby Aguido is staying. The others are called CuddleCat, Pinky Clarence and Perky Justine. Aguido is seriously one big lump. The other three can individualy lie in one hand whereas both hands are needed to hold Aguido.

Lyn 41, kids are sold to Romania?
If you do some quick desktop research I think you’ll find that it’s more likely that kids from Romania, Bulgaria and FYRs are sold to western countries (not the other way around).
The revenues from child-trafiicking rings are primarily from selling children (teens) for prostitution etc in Western europe.
Anyway - why give any credit to these sightings. Metodo 3 were adamant that madeleine was in Morocco, but now they are searching in Saudi Arabia (???) with sightings in Bosnia.

600 hundred children missing in UK since May 2007
Many “have no parents to launch an appeal, few have gained media attention and none on the scale devoted to the McCann case.” From the 9,000 children missing since May 2007, in UK, 600 hundred were not yet found, according to The Independent.
“The biggest UK charity dealing with missing children said that the families of all the children who have gone missing in the past six months were suffering ‘agony and a sense of not knowing’. Paul Tuohy, chief executive of Missing People, added: ‘In the UK each year 140,000 children are reported missing. We cannot forget these other young people and their families who are also left in limbo.” Paulo Reis, Gazeta Digital

Lyn, Trafficking is a problem all over Europe and elsewhere. Maybe it is worse in eastern countries but it amazes me how people from the US and UK pretend it doesn’t exist in their “great” countries.
