Madeleine McCann: Michaela Walczuch At The Door, JonBenet Ramsey And Metodo 3 ‘A Pup’
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY MIRROR: “Did they want my girl?”
Karen Sixsmith is in conversation with the Mirror. It is an “EXCLUSIVE”. She is in an apartment at the Ocean Club, Praia da Luz. It is a month before Madeleine McCann went missing
A woman knocks at her door. She claims to be a Jehovah’s Witness. “German-born” Michaela Walczuch is a Jehovah’s Witness, or has been. The “mysterious woman” at the door is with a man.
Says Sixsmith: “It was a blonde woman, 35 to 40 years old, English-speaking. She had a pamphlet and I knew straight away that she was a Jehovah’s Witness. She asked if she could come into the apartment to talk about her faith. I took the pamphlet from her and closed the door. I now think it may have been Murat and his girlfriend”
Michaela Walczuch is 34
Karen has a daughter called Kate – “Kate is strikingly similar to Madeleine…Kate would have stood out a mile with her blonde hair and blue eyes - just like Madeleine”
Says the Mirror: “Her testimony - given to the Sunday Mirror so we could pass it on to the McCanns’ private investigators Metodo 3 in Barcelona”
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Snatch bid last year at Maddie flat”
“A man tried to kidnap a child at the same apartment Madeleine McCann vanished from SIX MONTHS before she went missing,” says a British nanny who “caught the pervert trying to climb in through the ground floor window while a baby slept inside”
DAILY EXPRESS: “BABYSITTER SAW WINDOW MAN”
A source says “A babysitter has given detectives a statement in which she claims she caught a man trying to climb in through a window of apartment 5A – the apartment later occupied by the McCanns”
THE PEOPLE: “SICKENING SMEAR CAMPAIGN - FAMILY’S EMOTIONAL PLEA FOR MISSING DAUGHTER’S RETURN”
“Cops spent days investigating a theory the couple did it because they were desperate for cash”
It is a “sickening smear” making headlines in Portuguese paper 24 Horas
“NO QUIZ FOR MURAT LOVE” - Tuck Price, “a pal of German born Walczuch”, reveala: “I know for sure she’s been going to her Jehovah’s meetings and I know for sure the police haven’t contacted her. If this was true I’m sure the police would have been on to her”
“Find Maddie and give us a miracle for Christmas..” - “Maddie’s grandfather Brian Healy revealed how the family are convinced that she is alive and how they are now hoping for the ultimate Christmas miracle.” Says he: “We will all buy her a Christmas present and they will be under the tree waiting for her when she comes home”
GLASGOW SUNDAY MAIL: “Fury Over ‘Maddie Sold’ Slur”
An “outrageous slur”
A source says: “For several days the judicial police team investigated the possibility that the child had been sold by her own parents because of financial difficulties”
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE: 10 NEW SUSPECTS”
“Spanish investigators hunting for Madeleine McCann have narrowed their search to a hit list of ten paedophiles, we can reveal. Detectives working for the Metodo 3 agency are blitzing locations in Europe and Africa to find the known sex offenders”
Why this ten? Why ten?
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We have every confidence in Metodo 3. They can get to places faster and work quicker than anyone else and have the capacity to work worldwide”
BURNLEY EXPRESS: “Girls’ symbolic silence for Madeleine McCann”
Chelsea Gallagher and Gemma Lee, both 13, raised £450 for the Madeleine McCann Fund with a sponsored cuff-and-silence.
“For an entire school day, Chelsea and Gemma, 13, were handcuffed together and remained silent.” Says Chelsea: “The handcuffs symbolised the people who will be caught, and the silence because we haven’t heard anything about Madeleine”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann: is there no hope left?”
“Bristling with bravado before the television cameras last week, Francisco Marco, the portly boss of the Spanish-based detective agency Metodo 3, sneeringly dismissed the Portuguese police investigation into the disappearance of the couple’s daughter, Madeleine, as ”bumbling”, and boasted: ‘’We know who the kidnappers are and we are very, very close to catching them.’ Off camera, he admitted: ‘No, I can’t disclose any more yet. But I will be proved right.’”
Marco will get his man. A PI always does. Sign the contract. Pay the fee…
A source “close to” the McCanns says: ”The harsh fact is that they were pinning their remaining hopes on Marco’s outfit when they hired them on a six-month contract in September. But, in the past few weeks, they have conceded that they might have been sold a pup. There’s no doubt they’ve worked round the clock, but they don’t have a lot of experience with this type of investigation”
But there are for months left on the contract…
THE GUARDIAN: “Panorama walk-out over McCann film”
“Why did TV journalist David Mills, the producer of a Panorama film on the McCann affair, quit the project before it was transmitted last week? The Observer’s David Rose reveals the inside story of the latest row to hit the BBC’s flagship show”
Sensationalism? Tabloid journalism? Crime as entertainment?
Mills wrote a script. It was not used. “His original film would have compared Madeleine to the JonBenet Ramsey case in Colorado, about which Mills has made three previous documentaries. After the body of JonBenet, a child beauty pageant winner aged six, was found in her parents’ Boulder home, they were vilified by the police and media, despite their continued insistence that they had nothing to do with her death. They claimed she had been killed by an intruder…Years later DNA evidence proved beyond doubt that JonBenet had been killed by an intruder. John Ramsey told Panorama: ‘It’s a life-time damage. No question about it.’”

In a word
Yes!
They say they are not on a roller coaster of emotion when there is news of a sighting- why- because they know it’s BS- B*st**ds
There was more emotion in the question- do you know Murat!

I’m not sure why you think that.
If the abductor was striding across the top of the road toward Murats house at 9:15, why would he end up at the bar which is in the other direction? Was he striding around PDL that night hoping to be seen?

I also think that Gerry looks almost stupidly embarrassed by the question about knowing Murat. Kate looks stunned and at a loss. At this point, they were obviously trying not to lie about things that could later be shown to be false (although of course there are major inconsistencies that they might have had no choice than to lie about).
You would expect Gerry to have said, “No, I definitely have never met Robert Murat” or alternatively, “I believe I have bumped into him around the resort but don’t know him intimately.”
Another point, the McCann team now appear to be getting tired of Metodo3. Could that be because the Metodo3 “investigators” have, without thinking too much about it and for their own financial purposes, chosen to emphasise the very connection in the case that the McCanns want swept under the carpet?
……………
It would be ironic that the company they hired to produce an ‘abductor’ may have uncovered more than they gave them credit for.
The use of the word stunned in ref’s to Kate was one I toyed with using when I wrote may earlier comment-there is more reaction in that question than any other I’ve seen put to them- they were not prepared for that!

Re Father Pacheco, his behaviour sounds as if he actually trying to reveal something to the outside world without verbalising it outright. I also think the Pope is probably trying to let the world know that they know something by removing all the Madeleine things. Not that I have much confidence in the morality of the Roman Catholic church. However, I suppose they might want to reserve their options and limit the damage if something comes out by some other means.

That is a really biased statement, with no evidence to support it. Frankly, if a purported analysis of the facts include such obvious bias, the analysis itself is discredited.

I love that ‘Stumbled out of Murphys bar’ line!
Your point regarding the 9:30 to 9:45 lighting of candles is - to say the least -interesting isnt it!
Once you fix a time slot in place all the surrounding stories and times - which come directly from their mouth’s - are exposed with wonderul clarity!

TB, re timeline: was Tanner’s Panorama performance recorded after 3 NOV?
I did not see this show, but understood it to be based on earlier recordings.
——————
“One other curiosity. I noted that at the 6-month ecumenical ‘remembrance’ service held at the church in Rothley on 3 Noveember, the McCanns chose to have the symbolic lighting of the candles etc. at between 9.30pm and 9.45pm - because, he said: “that was the time when Madeleine was abducted”.
I found this strange at the time - and even stranger after Tanner’s Panorama performance where she stuck rigidly to “I saw the abductor at 9.15pm”.”

I’m not sure if the other apartments have a rear access (maybe just a balcony?) The Mc’s has 2 entrances as it’s on the end. Therefore the others (maybe) had to go up the road to access from the front.

103 firestar wrote: “…would suggest the Pope is entitled to know what was confessed to the priest. He isn’t”.
REPLY: With the greatest of respect, Firestar, you are badly mistaken.
The whole point about the confessional is that during confession any words spoken by the confessor are secrets conveyed to the Roman Catholic Church - but *not* - *never* - to the outside world.
Parish priests make weekly summaries of important political and other information and send these to the Vatican, where they are processed by a veritable army of civil servants and enable the Pope and his advisers to know what is going on in every part of the world. The priests also make a mental note of any intimate matters or crimes confessed to them. Anything of significance would be conveyed to Rome.
No matter whether the confessor admits to rape, murder or whatever other crime, the priest is under a *solemn oath* never to disclose *anything*, even the most outrageous crime, outside the R.C. Church. If he discloses a ‘confessional secret’ outside the church, he will be both ‘defrocked’ and excommunicated. That is, you lose your living. Virtually no other offence is taken more seriously by the Papacy.
The Pope knows what really happened at Praia da Luz, all right - that’s why he pulled all the ‘Find Madeleine’ stuff from the Vatican’s website just before the Mccanns were made suspects.
So does Father Pacheco know what happened? Yes. Indeed, he is on the public record as saying: “I will take the McCanns’ secrets to my grave”.
If Pacheco knows that a crime has been committed in relation to Madeleine by the McCanns, and yet has kept quiet, in my book that makes him a criminal too.
It is one of the disastrous consequences of the confessional oath of secrecy sworn by R.C. priests.
And for which one day I hope that Father Pacheco and his fellow-priests will answer
November 25th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
Yes Murats girlfriend may have knocked on this woman’s door, it is well documented that she is a Jehovas Witness and they do doorstep preaching, but to suddently try to start yet another smear after 6 months is disgusting, where was this woman and her suspicions 6 months ago?, they’re all coming out of the woodwork now aren’t they?

You questionned why the McCanns’ apartment - 5a - seemed to be so special.
I also wonder this.
1. There is a query as to whether 7 children instead of 3 were in the flat that night.
The PJ seem to have some reason to think that (possibly).
2. The strange coincidence of the owner of the flat having the name “McCann” and living
near to Kate’s mother in Liverpool.
3. I seem to remember that this lady sold the flat just weeks after the “abduction”, losing
about half its putative value in the process.
4. This person is reported as saying that she will “never speak to the Press”.
5. There is even a report I read today about a MW nanny who claims she saw a man
climbing through the window of 5a when it was occupied by people with a child.
6. There is also the fact of its very unfortunate location on a dark corner, the only
nearby CCTV not working (apparently), by a public car park, next to a road.
7. I don’t know what you think but the pictures of the inside of the flat showed a cold
unwelcoming unhomely enviroment - the last place I would want to spend a holiday
with my children. There didn’t seem to be much in the way of furniture, just beds.
What do you think?

I agree with you.
Surely Gerry wouldn’t want his own private investigators to find a witness linking Murat’s girlfriend with Madeleine. Judging by his strange “no comment” quote to the question about knowing Murat, they would probably be the last people he would want to be linked with, as it could well reveal their connection. This could prove to be quite ironic!
Wonder if the PJ have worked out the link between them. There is obviously a very significant one or Gerry would just have replied to this question, “No” or “Only because ….”
So why did he reply, “No comment”, then cough awkwardly and look like he wanted a huge hole to appear in the ground to swallow him up???

THE WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY - AND THE ABDUCTION AT 9.00PM TO 9.15PM
Ian, your focus on the ‘window of opportunity’ at around 9.oopm to 9.15pm is IMO absolutely right - and your excellent spreadsheet helps us to focus on this.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Jane Tanner interview on Panorama means that Team McCann, the ‘Tapas 9′, ‘The Circle’ or the ‘Pact of Silence’ - or whatever you call this bunch of co-conspirators - have absolutely nailed their colours to the mast and decided to go with this account:
1. 5′ 7″ ‘Mediterranean appearance’ abductor casing the joint from nearby flat for days - without anyone noticing him
2. Abductor jots down with his pen, pencil or laptop details of comings and goings
3. Abductor sees McCanns leaving their apartment at around 8.30pm
4. Abductor enters the open patio door at around 9pm or just after [NB. Ian - no explanation for why he waits half-an-hour, eh? - I rate him as a very poor abductor if he failed to rush down to swoop on Madeleine just after 8.30pm]
5. Abductor hears Gerry McCann enter the apartment c. 9.07pm, lies behind door breathing in and out noiselessly
6. Gerry McCann leaves apartment c. 9.09pm
7. Abductor picks up Madeleine
8. Abdcutor puts Cuddle Cat on high shelf or ledge (why??)
9. Abdcutor arranges room to make it ‘obvious’ to the McCanns at 10.00pm that there has been an abduction
10. Possibly abductor sedates twins so they don’t wake up
11. Abdutcor opens window
12. Abductor opens shutters from the inside (all this was apparently done deliberately to ty to deflect attention from the ‘fact’ that he got in through the patio door)
13. Abductor climbs out of the window with Madeleine tucked under his arm/over his shoulders. Or maybe he leaves her on the floor in the room, climbs out of the window and then bends over and pulls her through the window. All of this while she remains fast asleep or is awake but says nothing
14. Abductor seen by Jane Tanner but not by anyone else at around 9.15pm walking away ‘purposefully’ from the apartment. Originally said to be in one direction, but now said to be ‘walking in the direction of Robert Murat’s apartment’
15. Abductor never seen again.
Now I come to your post. You say: “Tanner says she saw abductor, Gerry and Wilkins at the same time in her most recent and as yet unchanged account. She was walking toward her apartment and the time was 9:15. Gerry last saw Madeleine at 9:10. The incresingly infamous 10 minute window of opportuity. I’m getting very boring repeating this but feel that it provides a fixed point essential in the chaotic maelstrom of information and more importantly misinformation which is the hallmark of this case”.
REPLY: Agreed entirely.
Ian wrote: “Only ten minutes after she returned to the bar, her ‘partner’ O’Brien went to check their kids again and found the one of Madeleines’ age ’sick’ - somehow he found ‘a friend’ who ‘fetched’ Jane Tanner and she returned to the apartment. To me this is the most singular part of the evening. How did O’Brien contact this ‘friend’. Why is this ‘friend’ not named? If he used a mobile, why did he not call those still at the bar, which included Jane Tanner? Why did he go to check his own children only ten minutes after Jane had already checked them? Why did he and Oldfield both go to check - why didnt one check all - its seems that everyone checked the McCanns children, so why didn’t the McCanns check the others too? Was their something special about the McCanns’ apartment - it certainly seems to have been the most visited that night - why was it accessed from the rear via the patio doors - yet Tanners apartment was approached from the front?”
REPLY: Best to assume that the ‘Tapas 9′ stories are a pack of lies about all this - I think that’s the only way to make sense of them. O’Brien needs an excuse for being away from the table. And for a sheet that needs changing. It is very uncertain whether Tanner was away from the table 9.15pm to 10pm or not. There are claims she never left the Tapas bar table.
One other curiosity.

The media is in the business of selling product…when they sense the story is dying, they introduce a new product..
Very true.
And what has certainly happened in this case. Like all before them, the Mccanns thought they could control/use it but failed.
