Madeleine McCann: Michaela Walczuch At The Door, JonBenet Ramsey And Metodo 3 ‘A Pup’
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY MIRROR: “Did they want my girl?”
Karen Sixsmith is in conversation with the Mirror. It is an “EXCLUSIVE”. She is in an apartment at the Ocean Club, Praia da Luz. It is a month before Madeleine McCann went missing
A woman knocks at her door. She claims to be a Jehovah’s Witness. “German-born” Michaela Walczuch is a Jehovah’s Witness, or has been. The “mysterious woman” at the door is with a man.
Says Sixsmith: “It was a blonde woman, 35 to 40 years old, English-speaking. She had a pamphlet and I knew straight away that she was a Jehovah’s Witness. She asked if she could come into the apartment to talk about her faith. I took the pamphlet from her and closed the door. I now think it may have been Murat and his girlfriend”
Michaela Walczuch is 34
Karen has a daughter called Kate – “Kate is strikingly similar to Madeleine…Kate would have stood out a mile with her blonde hair and blue eyes - just like Madeleine”
Says the Mirror: “Her testimony - given to the Sunday Mirror so we could pass it on to the McCanns’ private investigators Metodo 3 in Barcelona”
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Snatch bid last year at Maddie flat”
“A man tried to kidnap a child at the same apartment Madeleine McCann vanished from SIX MONTHS before she went missing,” says a British nanny who “caught the pervert trying to climb in through the ground floor window while a baby slept inside”
DAILY EXPRESS: “BABYSITTER SAW WINDOW MAN”
A source says “A babysitter has given detectives a statement in which she claims she caught a man trying to climb in through a window of apartment 5A – the apartment later occupied by the McCanns”
THE PEOPLE: “SICKENING SMEAR CAMPAIGN - FAMILY’S EMOTIONAL PLEA FOR MISSING DAUGHTER’S RETURN”
“Cops spent days investigating a theory the couple did it because they were desperate for cash”
It is a “sickening smear” making headlines in Portuguese paper 24 Horas
“NO QUIZ FOR MURAT LOVE” - Tuck Price, “a pal of German born Walczuch”, reveala: “I know for sure she’s been going to her Jehovah’s meetings and I know for sure the police haven’t contacted her. If this was true I’m sure the police would have been on to her”
“Find Maddie and give us a miracle for Christmas..” - “Maddie’s grandfather Brian Healy revealed how the family are convinced that she is alive and how they are now hoping for the ultimate Christmas miracle.” Says he: “We will all buy her a Christmas present and they will be under the tree waiting for her when she comes home”
GLASGOW SUNDAY MAIL: “Fury Over ‘Maddie Sold’ Slur”
An “outrageous slur”
A source says: “For several days the judicial police team investigated the possibility that the child had been sold by her own parents because of financial difficulties”
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE: 10 NEW SUSPECTS”
“Spanish investigators hunting for Madeleine McCann have narrowed their search to a hit list of ten paedophiles, we can reveal. Detectives working for the Metodo 3 agency are blitzing locations in Europe and Africa to find the known sex offenders”
Why this ten? Why ten?
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We have every confidence in Metodo 3. They can get to places faster and work quicker than anyone else and have the capacity to work worldwide”
BURNLEY EXPRESS: “Girls’ symbolic silence for Madeleine McCann”
Chelsea Gallagher and Gemma Lee, both 13, raised £450 for the Madeleine McCann Fund with a sponsored cuff-and-silence.
“For an entire school day, Chelsea and Gemma, 13, were handcuffed together and remained silent.” Says Chelsea: “The handcuffs symbolised the people who will be caught, and the silence because we haven’t heard anything about Madeleine”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann: is there no hope left?”
“Bristling with bravado before the television cameras last week, Francisco Marco, the portly boss of the Spanish-based detective agency Metodo 3, sneeringly dismissed the Portuguese police investigation into the disappearance of the couple’s daughter, Madeleine, as ”bumbling”, and boasted: ‘’We know who the kidnappers are and we are very, very close to catching them.’ Off camera, he admitted: ‘No, I can’t disclose any more yet. But I will be proved right.’”
Marco will get his man. A PI always does. Sign the contract. Pay the fee…
A source “close to” the McCanns says: ”The harsh fact is that they were pinning their remaining hopes on Marco’s outfit when they hired them on a six-month contract in September. But, in the past few weeks, they have conceded that they might have been sold a pup. There’s no doubt they’ve worked round the clock, but they don’t have a lot of experience with this type of investigation”
But there are for months left on the contract…
THE GUARDIAN: “Panorama walk-out over McCann film”
“Why did TV journalist David Mills, the producer of a Panorama film on the McCann affair, quit the project before it was transmitted last week? The Observer’s David Rose reveals the inside story of the latest row to hit the BBC’s flagship show”
Sensationalism? Tabloid journalism? Crime as entertainment?
Mills wrote a script. It was not used. “His original film would have compared Madeleine to the JonBenet Ramsey case in Colorado, about which Mills has made three previous documentaries. After the body of JonBenet, a child beauty pageant winner aged six, was found in her parents’ Boulder home, they were vilified by the police and media, despite their continued insistence that they had nothing to do with her death. They claimed she had been killed by an intruder…Years later DNA evidence proved beyond doubt that JonBenet had been killed by an intruder. John Ramsey told Panorama: ‘It’s a life-time damage. No question about it.’”

You asked me something the other day - perhaps asked me to answer a question posed by you.
I looked at posting numbers but couldn’t find it again. If you want to ask me again I’ll be in here for a short while and might be able to answer.

247 Exactly.
This is all noise. Mills probably pissed off that he didnt get the contract. The editor probably realised that Mills was far too clearly biased.
Although I’d agree with Mills about the Madeleine Panorama being an extended news report, I do not agree that it should seek to compare a case where the parents were (apparently - as I dont know the details) exonerated with a case where they are still supects.
As I said before, too many public schoolboy types in the media. They have grown up in unnatural environments and by ‘distant’ parents with ‘old school’ views of children being seen and not heard…though in the McCanns case, neither seen nor heard!
I dont expect MIlls considers it any problem leaving three kids like the McCanns did. It seems to be what those pursuing careers and fun do.

Like I just wrote, why bother with DNA testing of Baby Grace to Madeleine if the physical evidence wasn’t a good match?
Why would that be “bollox”? I’m not aware a female toddler has “bollox”.

November 25th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Thinking about the Baby Grace issues and the DNA testing, I come up with this:
1. The evidence for BG being M has to be close or the cops wouldn’t be doing DNA testing for a match.
2. Galveston PD initially said it would be 2 weeks for testing of DNA. It’s been over 3 now.
3. Maj T. used the specific phrase “leave no stone unturned” in his last discussion with the press.
This week should be the week we all finally find out one way or another. I find it compelling that after 26 days, the police have not ruled out BG as being Madeleine. That really does show that the clothes, the box, the sand/vegetation must be a good match or else why bother DNA testing?

“Gerry McCann:
- “We want a big event to raise awareness that she is still missing (…) It wouldn’t be a one-year anniversary, it will be sooner than that” (June 3, 2007)
Does that sound like he’s convinced to find her, say … before Christmas?

“As I’ve said on this forum several times before, the truth hurts!”
Judith, you strike me as a spiteful and miserable person. You absolutely hate and bemoan the state of the UK in it’s present guise and you seem to project this hatred onto people who have nothing whatsoever to do with the dissolution of the status quo ante.
You imagine dark forces and evil intents behind people who have simply lent assistance to people whom they have felt compassion for. Your twisted outlook has managed to contort good intentions into a sign of decay and malignancy in society and the powers that be.
In Maria’s case, you misinterpret a willingness to be even handed and give the benefit of the doubt, for insipid naiveté.
You are very caustic towards anyone, anything, which is not on your anti-McCann wavelength, because for some reason, they have come to engender and symbolise all that you dislike about the UK today.
I very much sympathise with your viewpoint concerning the decline and rot, but please stop attacking people who are clearly not the cause. For goodness sakes, emigrate like Carmen and so many others have.

You say “history is repeating itself over there”, meaning in Portugal and the UK, in relation to the Jon Benet Ramsey case and the McCann case. What prompts you to say this is because DNA solved the Ramsey case, exonerating the parents. However, DNA could solve the McCann case as well if the parents co-operated with the Portuguese police. But they won’t. Instead they have chosen to revile them and they fled from Portugal as soon as they were made suspects. If they co-operated, as I understand the Ramseys did in the USA, it’s possible they could be cleared of involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance, or death….or it’s possible they could be found guilty. So, basically, you are issuing a verdict of innocence on the McCanns, before trial.

‘Years later DNA evidence proved beyond doubt that JonBenet had been killed by an intruder. ‘
This is, of course, a misrepresentation of the facts.
And explains why Panorama wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole.
The Observer really does seem to have problems with DNA, doesn’t it. First the dodgy DNA South African, and now this.
Wonder why?

Bear in mind that there are huge question marks over whether this woman even exists. She claims to have seen this:
’six months before Madeleine disappeared’
but PDL is a spring/summer resort, Mark Warner has no activity there during the winter.
So how could she be working there as a nanny for a non-existent MW in December 2006?

Maria, I noted the papers mentioned the Ramsey case that took place here years ago:
“The original film would have compared Madeleine to the JonBenet Ramsey case in Colorado, about which Mills has made three previous documentaries. After the body of JonBenet, a child beauty pageant winner aged six, was found in her parents’ Boulder home, they were vilified by the police and media, despite their continued insistence that they had nothing to do with her death. They claimed she had been killed by an intruder. Mills’s version of the McCann Panorama featured an interview - eventually not used - with JonBenet’s father, John, in which he said that the Colorado police ‘did a great job of convincing the media and the world that we were guilty, but they couldn’t charge us, because of course they had no case’. Years later DNA evidence proved beyond doubt that JonBenet had been killed by an intruder. John Ramsey told Panorama: ‘It’s a life-time damage. No question about it.”
It was horror beyond belief what those parents went through for I think all most 11 years - and he was a very prominent Corporate President worth millions - forced to move away from Colorado - and lived in quietness with their then young son to escape the vile, nasty, filthy innuendos and constant hounding by the newspapers, magazines and public. However, the papers and public never let go as if the main goal was to hound them to their deaths. Mrs. Ramsey developed cancer and died two years ago never knowing who truly killed their daughter. As an aside, it has been medically said that ongoing stress, which breaks down the body, can bring on cancer. When she died I wrote to a newspaper and congratulated them with great sarcasm and pointed out ‘two left to go.’ As was brought out in an article recently over here comparing what the Ramseys went through as to what the public and press are putting the McCanns through over there - the moment the Ramseys hired an attorney to protect them they became instant suspects in the eyes of the public and papers.
Talk about ‘Man’s inhumanities to Man’ - both these cases are living proof of the ugliness and animalistic ways people act when some one is down and weak. People and the press back then reminded me of animals as I watched with compassion for the Ramseys and so ashamed of how Americans could treat another when not even proven if they were guilty or not. History is now repeating itself over there.
Rather like the laws of the jungle taking place once again- pick your prey usually the weak , stalk it, wear it down, the lion goes in for the kill, you hear the cackling howls of the hyenas waiting for the lions to finish their feast and you see the vultures sitting on the branches waiting to fly down to pick the bones clean.
Under the laws in most countries, everyone is entitled to a fair trial. Has anyone stopped to think that if charges are brought with evidence that might be found that with all this ugly publicity, and it is worldwide by the way, could they really be brought to trial? What a field day a top defense attorney could have with this case.

I think there’s many in here who alternate between different names. In fact, I know that’s the case beyond doubt. Why they do it is beyond my thinking capabilities.
They certainly have personality problems don’t they? If you challenge them and they feel cornered, up pops another alter-ego and they chit-chat back and forth giving “each other” positive feedback and then they start their abuse on the sensible posters. This forum must be a psychologist’s dream for checking out people like that.

And, Maria, I agree that it’s odd the police seem unwilling/uninterested in interviewing the T-9 again. I had assumed for a while they were waiting for the results of the DNA and forensic testing, but don’t they have all those results (inconclusive)? If so, maybe they’ve decided there’s no use re-interviewing: There’s no evidence here against the McCanns, no evidence even that Madeleine is dead, so why bother?
