Madeleine McCann: The Scenic 17, Dr Denny Says And DNA
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS page 21: “New DNA tests could unlock the mystery of lost Madeleine”
More DNA tests at the Forensic Science Service laboratory in Birmingham And this after the DNA tests proved inconclusive…
“Seventeen human cells could provide a major breakthrough in the Madeleine McCann mystery…The DNA samples are being examined by scientists in Britain and Portuguese detectives believe the evidence could unlock an investigation which is now in its eighth month”
The Tapas 7. The Tapas 9. The Scenic 17…
Guilhermino Encarnacao, head of the Policia Judiciaria in the Algarve, says: “We have asked the laboratory to carry out more tests and exhaust every possibility of obtaining conclusive results”
Says Forensic scientist Dr Ronald Denny (not working on the case): “A cell is negligible – you can just about see it under a microscope. It’s a sample someone would leave behind with the touch of a finger. But when placed with certain biochemicals a small amount of DNA grows to a size that can be analysed”
“GP Kate and heart consultant Gerry” are “both 39”
THE SUN page 15: “Only 17 cells of DNA in hol car”
“Cops looking for Madeleine McCann are banking on ‘a smidgen’ of DNA evidence. Scientists have found just 17 cells on samples taken from a hire car rented by Kate and Gerry McCann and their holiday flat”
Says independent forensic expert Dr Ronald Denny: “It is not a hopeless task. If they have 17 cells then they can carry it off very effectively in Birmingham, one of the leading labs in the world”
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Mission Impossible – Forensic evidence too poor to solve mystery of Madeleine, say police”
But Dr Denny is telling two papers otherwise…
A source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “It is highly unlikely they will find a DNA connection…If everybody refuses to make statements, which is perfectly possible, we will be left with our hands tied. This is a case which could hang by a thread for years and we may never be able to prove what actually happened to that child”
But what about Dr Denny. Why don’t they ask Dr Denny?
Says Dr Denny: “A person, or their possessions, have to be present for the cells to come off”
DAILY MIRROR page 7: “Maddy: Smidgen of DNA will work?”
Dr Denny is on the case, or not. But the “independent British expert” does have an opinion which is able to share with all of us
DAILY STAR page 9: “MADDIE: IT’S ALL DOWN TO 17 CELLS”
Dr Denny is talking to Star readers…
“Top cop in blast at private eyes” – Former deputy chief constable of Manchester Police John Stalker says of Metodo 3: “I’m not impressed with these people at all. I’d be very surprised if they get anywhere”
This is the same Stalker who delivered “MY VERDICT” to Express reader back in October
“There’s a world of difference in following a paper chase and finding a flesh-and-blood child”
Or a newspaper chase…
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 11: “Madeleine tests are ‘mission impossible’”
Says a source in 24 Horas: “The samples reportedly include microscopic spots of blood from the Ocean Club apartment where Madeleine went missing and ‘bodily fluids’ and hair from the Renault Scenic hired by the McCanns 25 days after their daughter’s disappearance. The samples are so small that, while it will not be impossible to find a DNA link between the car, apartment and Madeleine, it’s highly unlikely The tests being carried out are extremely complex”
But Dr Denny says…
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Kate and Gerry’s friends have consistently said they are happy to be re-interviewed by police if necessary. Indeed, they are keen to help if it clears up any inconsistencies. They, like Gerry and Kate, have nothing to hide”
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: “No Madeleine news today

very interesting: english ambassador met Haynes Hubbard, anglican priest from Praia da Luz

565 man on the hill,i have been thinking along the same lines lately to much cover up for accidental death, either they are innocent,or they or someone very close to them,or all together, have been involved in things and committed acts far too sick to think off…
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Recently I’ve been wondering whether another person was involved on 3 May and in subsequent events - someone outside the Tapas 9 etc who’s identity is unknown to the police. I mean, if you are thinking of commiting a crime where you’re likely to be on the suspect list, what better than to enlist a confederate who has no apparent connection with it and who’s DNA and fingerprints aren’t on record? Weren’t there reports of unknown DNA being found in apt 5A? And surely by now if the “scent of death” had been detected on the Tapas 7, Murat, Malinka, the MW staff etc we would know about it and the people in question would’ve been arrested or charged by now - or at least made arguidos.
So beyond the 4 Tapas men, Murat and Malinka maybe the PJ have been unable to identify the “7th Man.” That’s if it was male.
All speculation of course.

I think this is a side to the story that will run and run ..the orchestration of ” witness reports and sightings. This the posibility of of filling half a prison block!
If i was one of the simple folk that may have been cojoled into making a false report i would be on the phone to the PJ asap to telling all in the vain hope of not spending an extended “holiday” in a very small cell

trainer,
‘on the phone to the PJ’? but that’s what the halfway house Metodo 3 is there for! haven’t you noticed how they all seem to pop in and have a word with the McCanns’ hired help?
on the subject of filling half a prison block, is there a chance that the investigation could now go beyond May 3rd and the Tapas 9 & Robert Murat, also roping in some of the McCanns’ family and friends who stayed with them to Portugal (the period leading up to their being named arguidos)?

Walk me through what you think might have happened …because, for me it’s as hard to swallow as the abduction scenario….
IF, the ‘accident’ happened before they went to the bar…then the kids were presumably not alone.
IF, it happened while they were at the bar…who discovered it and when? Because I’ve been through that over and over and it’s almost worse than the so called abduction..trying to figure it out..
Just putting the speculation re personalities to one side…What do you think happened??
————————————————–
I think that a child choking will have irreversible brain damage within 2 minutes, and be dead in 3. It really doesn’t take very long.
So at the risk of disagreeing with Peter O’s scenario, I would think that Gerry is the most likely candidate to have found Madeleine dying or dead, and to have gone ballistic.
His career is not going well enough to enable him to survive that sort of scandal, and he appears to have been the person putting pressure on Kate’s mother to get her to accept that the child had been abducted, rather than wandered off from an unlocked apartment.
So, hide the body and look to move it later. It would certainly provide an explanation for why they remained in Portugal…

There were some posts earlier mentioning about the eye-defect and
mark on leg being printed on a link for the Missing Child Section of
the PJ. The link was posted earlier here.
I have read that link…it’s an English Language version…but I can
see a mention about a mark on leg…just below the pyjama pic.
Nothing mentioned about eye-defect though.
Then on checking the Official PJ Missing Persons page on the PJ
site via the link on your site…
No mention of either eye-defect or mark on leg on the Official Page.
Has that English language link posted here been “doctored” ?

Finding anything like the Mcann “Shop” would be beyond me so it”s great that so many of you
post a relevant website for us to be kept informed.
Regarding your info on the Private Limited Co. set up to receive the Donations, don”t you have to
have Two Shareholders? if so, who are they”"”" Also, besides Auditors, who are the
Accountants, and who was the female who made the announcment that the McCanns would
not be able to use Funds to pay their Mortgages . Finally, had a Charity been set up initially,
presumably it would not be allowed to make a profit nor pay Tax .Would a Private Co.
be liable for Tax on bank interest quite substantial. in this case.

Ms Baker refused to comment about the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance, adding: ‘I don’t want to go through it again.’

You asked whether, as doctors, the McCanns could have made it look like an innocent accident …..instead of the nightmare of trying to cover it up….?
No, they could not have done this if there were substances in the child’s body that could be elicited at post mortem - even doctors can’t do that. Do you remember, bodies of Shipman’s victims were exhumed and found still to have evidence of morphine etc?
There could have been injuries also that would have been impossible to camouflage.
I think you are somewhat arguing against your own case. IF they did harm Madeleine accidentally, there must have been something very incriminating for them to go to such lengths to hide the body. As you indicated, almost anything would have been better than to have to take the route of hiding a body. It seems unlikely to me that the McCanns would have killed M deliberately as there would have been much better ways to go about it than this without raising such suspicions. But if they did hide the body (and I reiterate IF), then what on earth was going on that would necessitate such an action?
I was watching a video of Madeleine riding her tricycle - she looked like a happy loved little girl - although appearances can be deceptive. But it reinforced my view that, if her parents are in any way guilty, they did not do it deliberately - but, as I keep repeating, there are too many things that don’t add up.
Maria, could you please tell me - why do you personally think that Kate and Gerry went out leaving the three children in a dark UNLOCKED flat? Do you agree that this is in itself child abuse? And why do you think that they exhibited such unusual behaviour in the days following her disappearance - playing tennis, jogging etc? I know someone suggested that even grieivng people need exercise, and this is true, but you just wouldn’t feel like it, would you? Your thoughts?
***************************************
I’m not Maria, but she seems absolutely right.
There’s no reason for the parents to cover up an accident - and choose instead this nightmare.
You yourself said Maddie looked like a loved child, so I don’t believe in any kind of premeditation there.
The schemes some people suggest in this forum are so far fetched they’re laughable…
Someone took this child! Why is it so hard to believe it could have happened? Unfortunately it happens every day, and it’s terrifying how it quickly the it can happen. I believe there was plenty of opportunity for a predator that night, and he took it.
And I am not arguing how reckless it was to leave these kids in the apt. all alone…that goes without saying!
