Why didn’t Amy’s mum put the letter in the post to her daughter? Why compound her daughter’s probs by spouting off to the newspapers yet again? Gee those parents. And in-laws.

One feels that Amy, like Britney S, is the family bread-winner; both were stage-school kids with pushy mothers who seem to have pushed too hard and can now see their respective Golden Geese spectacularly falling apart.

Lock the parents up and I say then the kids might have a chance of getting back to some sort of normality.

The comment is not meant to be helpful only to place an end to an open letter written by Winehouse’s mother to national newspaper…

The tabloid news is not about Winehouse’s music but her celebrity. Even her mother’s views are deemed newsworthy.

Readers have no idea if Amy is nice girl or not, only told - repeatedly - that she has taken drugs.

Letters can reveal less about the subject and more about the writer… Who are we looking at in this letter, Winehouse or her mum - who made it available to the press..?

I find this claim hurtful and unhelpful. Amy is a nice girl, with a few issues, that’s all.
