Charity work eh? Well, that's good.
I missed all that too. Before the internet I had almost no idea what was going on in the old country.
News of Britain rarely penetrated the wilds of Wisconsin back then.

Hi David,
I think Jimmy Savile has done a fair amount of charity work over the years.I don't personally believe in the honours system and think that other ways should be found to publicly recognize outstanding work by people in the country.

Jeffery Archer was made a Lord and there was a Lord Brockett(car insurance fraud)Lester Piggot, one of the greatest jockeys got an honour but had problems with tax evasion.I know a woman who ran out of money and slepted on the streets of London back in the 60s.She then got a job as a waitress and, many years later was given an OBE for her services to tourism after outstanding work ata famous London restaurant.

Claire Rayner, who was on British TV sometime ago decline an honour because like me she doesn't believe in them.

At least Jimmy Savile is a character and I'd rather have a coffee and chat with him than the creeps and garbage known as the government.

Sir Tom Jones, Sir Michael Caine,......some people have made a contribution in their life but as I say, the honours system isn't for me and I believe its against the law in America to have a title before your name.

Regards,

JOHN

Something else I missed.
They KNIGHTED Jimmy Saville????
What for, outstanding services to weirdness?
I've nothing against him but Knighted????
Can I at least have an OBE for emigrating and leaving a place open for a Polish plumber?
Not being a drain on the NHS? Not clogging up the roads with my infernal driving?
Whatever :)
