Madeleine McCann: The Age Of Jose Anes, Gerry McCann’s Fury And Murat’s Nannies Know Best
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “No one will ever stand trial”
Because no one has been charged with any crime?
Or: “NOBODY will EVER stand trial over missing Madeleine McCann because cops made so many vital blunders,” says the Sun. And so too says Jose Anes, 62: “Mistakes in the early hours demolished the entire case”
The ex-director of Lisbon’s police lab is “Portugal’s top forensic expert”, a billing the lab’s current director may dispute
Mr Anes says: “If the scene is not preserved in the first hours, all the hours of effort that follow are useless. I am utterly convinced — unless some new, concrete evidence suddenly emerges — the case will never reach trial”
But what of the evidence gathered so far, like the DNA samples found in the McCanns’ hire car?
“Maddie sniffer dog ‘was rigged’” - Gerry McCann is “FURIOUS” – as often he is. He “believes sniffer dogs used to find Maddie clues in the family’s hire car were MANIPULATED by cops”
Says a “source close to the couple”: “Gerry says a dog went up to the Scenic, sniffed around and went to head off. He watched the dog being brought back to the vehicle. Finally, it reacts around the boot area. Gerry was open-mouthed at that, he feels the dog was manoeuvred into a position where it could react”
And smell
“Murat pals ’saw him near flat’” – “SUSPECT Robert Murat was PALS with British holiday nannies who say they saw him the night Maddie vanished, it has emerged”
Good friends? “And at least two of the girls knew him well enough to be on first name terms”
That’s close, eh
“A source confirmed yesterday that he did befriend several girls, adding: ‘A lot are attractive and he made a beeline for them. When they were asked who was near the apartment that night, several mentioned Murat”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine: Forensics expert says inquiry is ‘complete waste’ because of police blunders at apartment”
Says Jose Manuel Anes: “Huge amounts of money were spent but if, in the first hours, the due precautions for the preservation of the crime scene were not taken, all this hard work goes down the drain. We can spend rivers of money which will all go down the drain if the crime scene is not properly isolated”
The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “It is alarming to hear that Mr Anes has this view. All we want, and have done throughout, is to ensure the operational police side of this has been done in an effective and efficient manner as possible”
And why is Mr Anes – “the 62-year-old” - speaking out now? Because he’s making his comments known in a book called The McCanns’ Guilt – not that the case will ever, come to trial, you understand
“Madeleine: Gerry’s fury at ‘bungling’ dog handlers” – More Gerry McCann fury
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE COPS HIDE WITNESS”
Says the paper: “The key witness in the Madeleine McCann inquiry was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal” – Jane Tanner? Kate McCann? Gerry McCann? No, the unnamed Portuguese tapas waiter…
“Pals say he is terrified his identity is about to be revealed and claim he is also scared of British and Portuguese government influence in the probe…Friends add that he is worried about the private eyes hired by Gerry and Kate McCann, both 39, to help find their daughter”
One former work colleague of the waiter says: “He does not want to be involved in any of this. Through no fault of his own he finds himself at the heart of this worldwide mystery”
DAILY EXPRESS: “MADELEINE: WITNESS GOES ON THE RUN ‘TO PROTECT HIS EVIDENCE’”
“THE key witness in the missing Madeleine McCann case was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal”
“POLICE WERE ‘SIDETRACKED’ BY MCCANNS” - Former police crime scene chief Jose Manuel Anes is “ONE of Portugal’s top forensic experts”
The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER investigates. Mr Anes is “71”
And “last night hinted that Kate and Gerry McCann were partly to blame for the flawed investigation into their daughter’s disappearance”. Although the Sun says it was those bungling Portuguese police (see above)?
“They should not have been thinking of the poor little parents but I understand the human dimension and the pressure which immediately involved the investigators. Sometimes the police are too human. The police must be absolutely objective. Somebody’s suggestions and complaints connected to a person’s disappearance should be set aside while the evidence is being gathered. In the moments immediately following the occurrence the goal is to gather everything and preserve everything”
Not bungling, rather too caring; too human
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann DNA clue ‘useless’”
Jose Manuel Anes is 62. He is the retired head of Portugal’s police science laboratory.
He tells the Mirror, and everyone else: “I fear the case will never reach trial” - and even if it did, no jury would be able to convict anyone.
BBC: Audience for BBC News 24 peaked in 2007 at 8.2 million in the week ending 1 July for the bomb attack on Glasgow Airport and at 7.9 million for the story of the kidnapping of Madeleine McCann in the week ending 13 May

Ann - How does Christine make a link to the ‘other side’?, I mean, when she does a reading for you, does she have to hold a ring that you wear or anything like that? Can she do long distance readings for people she has never met? And how does she make a link to Madeleine?
***********************************************************
I just go and sit with her, hands by my sides because apparently it “blocks” stuff if you screw yourself up and fold your arms, and then “they” are just “there” . Whoever has anything they want to communicate just is “there”. Brother-in-Law sometimes just “sits in” on sessions and drops the odd staggering comment in like the one where he said “Boat trip, very fast, a bit choppy, laughing like a drain…see ? distance is no problem” This was a reference to a trip we had on the “Mack Attack” speed catamaran to the Hole in the Rock in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand in February so answer that one if you can !!
She can do distance readings and does them from receiving a short hand-written, non-specific note from whoever wants the reading and has done some for my friend who lives in the States. One was spot-on but the other one my friend thinks has more “future” things in it than present so is awaiting events. Chris prefers to do the readings on a tape as she can then just burble on whereas it is difficult to write at speed everything that comes through.
Madeleine just came through to her one day when she ..Chris …was outside in the garden cutting her hedge !! The next time was when she was staying with her daughter and Maddie came skipping in with her friend Polly and spoke about having been to see Chris’s Grandson’s Guinea Pig which she said was “just like Pickles” . Maddie also came through with Brother-in-Law on my last reading, he said to Chris “…I have someone here I think you wat to talk to ” At that time Chris tried to ask her to be more specific as to where she was but she just screwed her face up and all Chris got was the still water thing again. She won’t talk about it, although she did say once it smelt of rotting fish where she was.
Actually, very strong things happen when Chris and her daughter are together as they both have the ability and it seems to concentrate the contact

I think there may be thousands of people who leave Portugal off-season, and also thousands who visit relatives over Chistmas. And of course, leaving Portugal after an interview is per definition fleeing, we have previously been told….

Really? Who by?
I am reminded of one of the more memorable observations by the Queen of England during the Second World War; when asked why she did not send her two daughters to the safety of Canada she replied that her daughters would not leave without her, she would not leave without the King, and the King would never leave….

No certainly not, but I read somewhere that Metodo3 know where she is and have promised that she will be home before Christmas, and that the McCs are putting out presents for her under the tree, so clearly they believe it as well, which gives us only another 6 days before we all have to apologise humbly and publicly for having doubted them.
Or have I misunderstood ?
December 18th, 2007 at 9:44 am
“It looks like the foreign office will not authorise further police interviews of the mccanns and their friends before christmas (today’s news in Portugal). ”
Well, not quite….
According to Corrieo da Manha, it’s not the Home Office…
“McCann: Letters Rogatórias
Inquirições only after the day of Christmas
Kate and Gerry will only be questioned after the Christmas season
Kate and Gerry McCann, and the seven friends who spent holidays with them in Portugal, only longer be questioned after Christmas. This is because the Foreign Office (British foreign ministry) will act only to the letters rogatory from the Judicial Police (PJ) after that date, so that the family moves within the period of normal as possible.
The very PJ has no intention to ask the parents of Madeleine or any element of the group during the celebrations. “There is no practice of Judiciary Police do interviews at Christmas, unless they had absolutely necessary,” said the CM source connected to the process, when faced with the intention of the Foreign Office.
The same source assured that the letters rogatory, where the Judiciary is the request for the group to be questioned and embodies the questions you want to put to it - have not yet been sent to Eurojust and remain in the public prosecutor in Portugal. “It is likely follow this week,” continues the same source, “but nevertheless, it should not be possible to implement any kind of diligence in England before the days 24 or December 25,” he added…”
Now, wasn’t CdM one of the papers that as recently as last week was assuring us that the letters had been sent?
And all of a sudden, we’re back to square one. The letters NOT being approved by the Prosecutor, de Meneses. The same Prosecutor who’s been refusing to authorise further questioning since September, unless he sees some “hard evidence” - which we now know he’s not going to get from any forensics.
And, also all of a sudden, a waiter is suddenly “pivotal” - someone who at worst it’s claimed could challenge accounts of how often children were checked on (despite contradicting other waiters and witnesses), and what Kate McCann’s words were. In other words, not someone who could shed any light on what’d happened in the apartment, or how any body might have been disposed of.
What else has emerged - well, there was the “Sunday TImes” piece, where the David James Smith, who’s actually talked to the relevant players says:
“….It perhaps needs to be stated openly that all these timings and details, the way in which they weave and dovetail together, are based on witness accounts – corroborated not just by the McCann group but by others, such as Jes Wilkins – and that, despite suggestions to the contrary, there are no obvious contradictions or differences between them”
despite repeated, but imprecise claims by the PJ.
So, here’s an alternative - and rather more consistent with the observed facts - scenario as to why the PJ suddenly think this waiter is “pivotal”.
They’re in the shit. The Prosecutor has yet again kicked their requests for further interviews into touch - and they know that those interviews are their last “throw of the dice” before they’re forced to admit thay’ve no case worth speaking of.
He’s kicked it into touch because not only are there no real contradictions between the statements to be investigated, but because there are no forensics, and we also now know even the sniffer dogs stuff would be laughed out of court (The Sunday Times piece again).
They have one chance, and one chance only of getting those interviews approved - finding some witness somewhere who can somehow cast doubt not only on the Tapas 7’s testimony, but that of all the others who were there - and to do it in some meaningful way.
Here’s a prediction.
No approval of more interviews will be forthcoming - from the Prosecutor. Sometime in the new year, the PJ will be forced to open the case files, and to admit their case was tissue thin.
And they’re also going to have to answer for some highly questionable tactics….
“…During Kate’s interviews with the PJ in September, just before she was declared an arguido, she was separated from her lawyer, and he was presented with a long list of factors pointing to her guilt, including entries from her entirely innocuous diary and a passage they believed she had marked in a Bible (which in fact had been given to her and marked by the original owner).
The PJ also told the lawyer there was a 100% DNA match with Madeleine in the car and showed him a document that appeared to prove it. Possibly, this was the document showing Madeleine’s control sample of DNA. The McCanns feared even their own lawyer thought they were guilty. Kate was asked by the PJ to explain the dog alerts by her car. “You’re the police,” she said. “You tell me.” Kate asked the PJ: “Are you trying to destroy our family altogether?”
Gerry was asked the same questions the next day but could not answer. (Sometime earlier a Leicestershire officer had said to him, just stick to what you know.) Why did the dogs only alert next to material belonging to the McCanns? The officer was brandishing the dog-handler’s report. And then: “Your daughter’s DNA, your daughter Madeleine McCann, how do you explain that?” “Show me that report,” Gerry asked. “No. This is the report that matters – with the dog.” Of course, they could not produce a DNA match because there wasn’t one. ..”
Separated from her Lawyer, eh? And false reports shown to the Lawyer.
Reckon that’s decent Policing?

I really don’t know what happened but I do know that the chances of an abduction are minimal enough to discount it. I wrote a long piece yesterday here - it’s No 172 if you’re interested - to show why I think so.
I keep an open mind on whether she will be found in this mineshaft however!
Google “Dean Radin Remote viewing” if you are interested in what scientific evidence there is for your friend Christine’s gift.

Splendid, now even the Portugese rossers are saying that the PJ screwed up in not securing the room.
When Old Harry Hind Sight said that, as he did right from the start, he was accused of racism and all sorts of other unpleasant things - now even their the PJ’s own are forced to admit how useless they have been on this ocassion.
How the Doctors McCann must feel at being accused by these incomptent coppers.

My point being that INTERPOL IS NOT A POLICE FORCE (as some suggested that they are some type of supranational cops…). They do not carry out investigations or arrests and there is no such thing as an interpol cop.
INTERPOL is like an association of 186 national police forces that agree on terms for cooperation for crimes that require cooperation between police forces from different countries.
The portuguese police solicited (via interpol) for searches to be carried out by the national police forces in Morocco, Spain, Belgium and Bosnia as a result of alleged sightings. The answer from these forces invariably came back loud and clear “we have no indication that Madeleine McCann is or ever was in our national territory”.
It’s not Interpol that “turned up jack shit”, it’s the portuguese police (responsible for the investigation) that is still ongoing and has not produced results. Indeed maybe this crime will never be solved (one of many).
However, let’s not rush into conclusions. The PJ is now finalising the “investigation phase”. As a result of this investigation the prosecution will decide whether to archive the case or to press charges. If it’s archived it’ll possibly not be solved (and it”ll indicate that the investigation was not successful). If the prosecutor presses charges then the investigation will have successfully amassed enough evidence to describe what happened to Madeleine McCann. We’ll know shortly into the new year.

Why is it that nyone who favours the abduction theory never presents evidence, but says ‘what else then’ and proceeds to ridicule anything suggested.
Ann, how about this, a paedophile, dripping with sardine juices and grease, slobbering and wetly licking his fat foreign lips, his slimy olive skin gleaming in the light from the sodium street lamps, held the tiny sedated figure just as he had been trained in his days as a fireman (before he had been recognised as a significant fire risk - all that oil you see).
He knew he had to be quick, that ugly old white bitch has seen him he was sure. Despite his SAS training allowing his entry and exit in less than 5 minutes and the deft triple sedation possible because of the medical skill and expertise born of many a night operation, he realised he had made a big mistake planning his escape route right across the main access road under the streetlights. Damn! He’d sure slipped up there, especially as he knew that the intelligent loving family man (a fine British doctor, how he admired them!) and his friends were streaming backward and forward between the Tapas and the apartments like those leaf cutter ants he had once seen at the zoo (whilst hanging around looking for stray white blonde british girls). Why hadnt he used his training and timed this better, they were, after all, using the exact same schedule they had used all week - they really must be unbelievable clock watchers! Dammit again, the police would be able to create the most precise timeline with these people involved! He should have realised, they’d know for sure it was abduction - and he’d stupidly worried about that cuddlecat getting dirty on the dusty floor - still, he’d cleaned up the apartment meticulously - luckily he’d remembered his household cleaning kit! They’d not find a speck of dust! Hopefully cuddle cat would soon be washed before they realised it might have been touched by his horrible little foreign fingers. Anyway, he had to get on, he’d not left a car near the aartment as it might have been too easily spotted, it was incredibly quiet here and it would be ludicrous to switch on a car engine, the sound would travel to Lisbon! He had to get to the opther side of town in time to be spotted by the Irish bar, oh damn! Another mistake, that was in the OTHER direction….muttering incoherently and dripping grease, he slithered his way past his friend Murats house….

Been to PDL many times, am a keen runner and have suffered bigtime from achilles tendon injuries. PDL is all hills and you would not be running round there every day if you had achilles problems – particularly up to the top of the overlooking hill. Altogether, a lame excuse for missing the 3 tennis lessons.

Maria, I will not answer your statements and assumptions 1 by 1 as TB just did because I really think that there’s no substance in what you say that really merits one’s comment.
I would however suggest that before displaying signs of your sheer ignorance to the anorak public you research a bit better what you try to say. The McCanns did not beg for police to be brought from the UK - or for Interpol to be involved. You are clearly ignorant enough not to know that Interpol is not a police force. It is an organisation that groups police forces from 186 countries and that is there to facilitate cross-border police co-operation between national police forces. That is what happened with LEicestershire Police Liaison offices sent to portugal to work with Portuguese policing authorities. At the same time there was a portuguese liaison cop appointed to be responsible for the relationship with Leicestershire constabulary.
That’s also what happened in the many sightings of Madeleine that were reported across the world (the policing authorities were asked to cooperate via Interpol).
I hope this helps you understand a bit better the feature of international police cooperation.
