Madeleine McCann: The Age Of Jose Anes, Gerry McCann’s Fury And Murat’s Nannies Know Best
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “No one will ever stand trial”
Because no one has been charged with any crime?
Or: “NOBODY will EVER stand trial over missing Madeleine McCann because cops made so many vital blunders,” says the Sun. And so too says Jose Anes, 62: “Mistakes in the early hours demolished the entire case”
The ex-director of Lisbon’s police lab is “Portugal’s top forensic expert”, a billing the lab’s current director may dispute
Mr Anes says: “If the scene is not preserved in the first hours, all the hours of effort that follow are useless. I am utterly convinced — unless some new, concrete evidence suddenly emerges — the case will never reach trial”
But what of the evidence gathered so far, like the DNA samples found in the McCanns’ hire car?
“Maddie sniffer dog ‘was rigged’” - Gerry McCann is “FURIOUS” – as often he is. He “believes sniffer dogs used to find Maddie clues in the family’s hire car were MANIPULATED by cops”
Says a “source close to the couple”: “Gerry says a dog went up to the Scenic, sniffed around and went to head off. He watched the dog being brought back to the vehicle. Finally, it reacts around the boot area. Gerry was open-mouthed at that, he feels the dog was manoeuvred into a position where it could react”
And smell
“Murat pals ’saw him near flat’” – “SUSPECT Robert Murat was PALS with British holiday nannies who say they saw him the night Maddie vanished, it has emerged”
Good friends? “And at least two of the girls knew him well enough to be on first name terms”
That’s close, eh
“A source confirmed yesterday that he did befriend several girls, adding: ‘A lot are attractive and he made a beeline for them. When they were asked who was near the apartment that night, several mentioned Murat”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine: Forensics expert says inquiry is ‘complete waste’ because of police blunders at apartment”
Says Jose Manuel Anes: “Huge amounts of money were spent but if, in the first hours, the due precautions for the preservation of the crime scene were not taken, all this hard work goes down the drain. We can spend rivers of money which will all go down the drain if the crime scene is not properly isolated”
The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “It is alarming to hear that Mr Anes has this view. All we want, and have done throughout, is to ensure the operational police side of this has been done in an effective and efficient manner as possible”
And why is Mr Anes – “the 62-year-old” - speaking out now? Because he’s making his comments known in a book called The McCanns’ Guilt – not that the case will ever, come to trial, you understand
“Madeleine: Gerry’s fury at ‘bungling’ dog handlers” – More Gerry McCann fury
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE COPS HIDE WITNESS”
Says the paper: “The key witness in the Madeleine McCann inquiry was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal” – Jane Tanner? Kate McCann? Gerry McCann? No, the unnamed Portuguese tapas waiter…
“Pals say he is terrified his identity is about to be revealed and claim he is also scared of British and Portuguese government influence in the probe…Friends add that he is worried about the private eyes hired by Gerry and Kate McCann, both 39, to help find their daughter”
One former work colleague of the waiter says: “He does not want to be involved in any of this. Through no fault of his own he finds himself at the heart of this worldwide mystery”
DAILY EXPRESS: “MADELEINE: WITNESS GOES ON THE RUN ‘TO PROTECT HIS EVIDENCE’”
“THE key witness in the missing Madeleine McCann case was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal”
“POLICE WERE ‘SIDETRACKED’ BY MCCANNS” - Former police crime scene chief Jose Manuel Anes is “ONE of Portugal’s top forensic experts”
The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER investigates. Mr Anes is “71”
And “last night hinted that Kate and Gerry McCann were partly to blame for the flawed investigation into their daughter’s disappearance”. Although the Sun says it was those bungling Portuguese police (see above)?
“They should not have been thinking of the poor little parents but I understand the human dimension and the pressure which immediately involved the investigators. Sometimes the police are too human. The police must be absolutely objective. Somebody’s suggestions and complaints connected to a person’s disappearance should be set aside while the evidence is being gathered. In the moments immediately following the occurrence the goal is to gather everything and preserve everything”
Not bungling, rather too caring; too human
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann DNA clue ‘useless’”
Jose Manuel Anes is 62. He is the retired head of Portugal’s police science laboratory.
He tells the Mirror, and everyone else: “I fear the case will never reach trial” - and even if it did, no jury would be able to convict anyone.
BBC: Audience for BBC News 24 peaked in 2007 at 8.2 million in the week ending 1 July for the bomb attack on Glasgow Airport and at 7.9 million for the story of the kidnapping of Madeleine McCann in the week ending 13 May

Oh, do not twist, and do not exaggerate what we’ve said on that score.
I’ve stayed in MANY a hotel, worked in MANY a hotel, and while it always has its moments, the Dantesque kinds of scenes described by Egglady and others is, well, it is bizarre. And noisy. And yet, Gerry says the evening that madeleine was abducted, perhaps only seconds after he left her side, all was deadly still–absolutely silent. No screaming, inconsolable babies, no vomiting children, no little girls sobbing “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!” for hours.
The inconsistencies are striking, aren’t they?
Since drinking copious amounts of plonk does not usually cause deafness, you kind of have to wonder about the Tapas 9s’ various, inconsistent statements.
Now, what were we arguing about again?
and hey, whot’s the deal with the coma talk?

Don’t bother…it’s the new law - you have to carry a Cuddle Cat toy around with you at all times. Especially if you’re dealing with 6 dead bodies…possibly 7.

Considering the large sized families of yesteryear, the mothers of those families would be beside themselves hearing these “poor” middle-class mothers complaining about their children today. I’ve always found a pet more difficult to keep than a child. What is it with these flaky parents who complain about the difficulties of parenthood? Makes you want to slap them in the face with a wet fish and tell them to get a grip of themselves.

Are you sure you’re American? “Boyo”? That’s Welsh!
I wonder about a halfway house - something that has elements of a hoax abduction and an accidental death. In other words - a straightforward sale of Madeleine to a 3rd party.
That is more controversial than a straightforward hoax abduction but seems to fit the circumstances. And it neatly accounts for “they’ve taken her…” and Bundle-man. The new owners probably did take her.
I don’t know…clutching at straws here. Something bad has happened so we’re coming up with all kinds of possibilities - each as valid as each other.

Oo, do note the mystical number present here!
It’s the number of “the beast,” is it not?
“Colic” does not equal “crying a lot.”
“Crying a lot” can have a great many causes.
Bridget Eggman indicates that she was “exhausted,” claims many vacationing parents at PDL similarly “exhausted,” focus is constantly on herself, not even on making good memories for her child, just of veiled partnership complexities….
Sounds like Mark Warner was more of a “Mommy Dearest” convention that fateful May.

It’s starting to sound as though there was a child-abusing convention in PDL that week, isn’t it? TB is right–kids vomiting, screaiming, crying…sounds like the children were having quite a miserable time. sounds strange….sounds like a very tense group of Brits all around, wot wot?
———————————————————————-
No.
You would have to be pretty far gone to describe a child with a Dr Who Sonic Screwdriver and a baby with colic as evidence of child abuse. Even throwing in a child throwing up does not advance the argument.
It is precisely this sort of nonsense which allows Clarence to pretend that the McCanns were behaving as typical British parents. They were not.

REPLY: Another post which confirms the validity of these recently-devised Anorak mathematical laws, or equations perhaps we should call them - based on extensive empirical observation and research in the past 3 months:
McCann-sceptics = Genuine questioners of an extraordinary claim about a so-called ‘disappearance’
McCann-supporters = Abusive resorters to personal abuse because they don’t have any valid arguments.
And then there’s Maria, who warrants a separate category all to herself.
I generalise, of course

McCanns spared police questioning ‘until after Christmas’ as they release new Madeleine photograph

Kate and Gerry McCann will not face new police interviews until after Christmas, it was revealed yesterday.
Detectives have delayed asking for the fresh interrogations until after the festive period, meaning the couple will be able to spend the time with their two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie.
They have said they are dreading the festive celebrations without Madeleine, but want to have a “very quiet, private Christmas with family”, and to keep the day as normal as possible for the twins.

Family gathering: Madeleine (second from right) with, from left, her cousins Paul, Fiona (holding Madeleine’s sister Amelie) and Gregor, right
Portuguese police will make formal requests for the McCanns and the other members of the so-called Tapas Nine to be re-interviewed some time after December 27.
The requests will have to be rubber-stamped by the Foreign Office and by the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith. Portuguese officers will travel to Britain for the interviews, which will be carried out by British police but in the presence of Portuguese detectives.
Happy family: A close-up of the picture shows Madeleine smiling as she snuggles next to cousin Gregor
The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said police had not yet contacted the couple’s lawyers about the new interviews. “We welcome the fact that Kate and Gerry will be able to have as normal a Christmas as possible in the circumstances,” he said.
“However, we are keen for the process to be completed as soon as possible. No one has anything to hide.”
Madeleine’s grandmother, Eileen McCann, revealed yesterday that she had bought presents for Madeleine which she would keep for her safe return.
Mrs McCann, 67, said she planned to put a large pink teddy bear with a big white heart on the four-year-old’s bed, ready to welcome her home.
She said: “I always pick out clothes and put money in a little envelope for each of [Madeleine, Sean and Amelie]. This year I did the same for Madeleine. I’d never leave her out.
“She loves the colour pink. I have a huge pink teddy bear with a white heart on it - a gift to her from the Scottish Government. I’m going to put it in her bedroom later.”
Mrs McCann, of Glasgow, told Hello! magazine: “Our big family Christmases used to be so special. This was my time of the year with my family and it always has been.
“But I’m afraid I won’t be celebrating this year because I don’t feel like it. What Madeleine’s disappearance has done to us is indescribable.”
She fought back tears as she said: “I’m sitting here looking at photos of her and wondering where she is and who’s got her. When I lost my husband John two years ago, I thought that my world had collapsed. But losing Madeleine is ten times worse.
“It’s because we don’t know where she is. We need closure of some description: we need to find her. I can only hope and pray she’ll be found safe and well.”
Mrs McCann insisted she had not given up hope that Madeleine could still be found alive.
She said: “I’ve always had faith. As long as they don’t find her body. I’ll never give up hope she’s alive. I don’t care how long it takes, I just won’t give up hope she’s alive.
“I don’t care how long it takes: I just won’t give up hope. When we do finally get her home, she’ll have so much love and hugs from us all.”

Struggle: Madeleine’s maternal grandmother, Susan Healy, is furious about Kate and Gerry’s ‘arguido’ status and says they are being made scapegoats
Madeleine’s other grandmother, Susan Healy, 61, and her husband Brian, 67, said Madeleine’s mother was struggling to cope with the idea of spending Christmas without her oldest daughter.
Mrs Healy told the magazine: “I just don’t know what we’re going to do this year. Brian and I are feeling very sad and low. It’s been the most difficult period we’ve had so far since Madeleine disappeared.
Madeleine: The four-year-old loves the colour pink and her paternal grandmother, Eileen McCann, is saving a pink teddy bear with a white heart for when she returns
“I find that I can’t think of anything except her from the minute I wake up in the morning.
“My daughter is really struggling at the moment. She just doesn’t want it to be Christmas, but obviously we have to do something for the twins.”
Mrs Healy, of Allerton, Merseyside, said it was “diabolical” that Kate and Gerry McCann were official suspects in the disappearance.
She said: “Their ‘arguido’ status should never have been imposed. We know there’s nothing to incriminate them and they’ve known it all along.
“While people are so intent on trying to find scapegoats, nobody is looking for Madeleine.”
Mr McCann’s sister Philomena, 43, of Glasgow, added: “Nobody’s been talking about Christmas, we just want it to pass. Even mentioning the word feels terrible.
“I’m sure Kate and Gerry will do something special for the twins Sean and Amelie, but we’ve all agreed that none of the adults in the family are buying presents for each other.”
She said Madeleine’s disappearance was difficult for her young cousins to bear as they prepared for a Christmas without her - a time of year that the lively child had always loved in the past.
Miss McCann said: “There was always loads of food, laughter and games. She’d love to play with her cousins Paul, Fiona and Gregor.
“We’d organise horse-races - with Gerry and me as the horses. The younger children would climb on our backs and we’d race around the living room.

Dreading Christmas: Kate McCann’s mother, Susan Healy, says her daughter does not want it to be Christmas but will ‘do something for the twins
“We’d play other daft games, too. Madeleine loved singing along to Fiona’s karaoke machine, chasing Gregor’s remote-controlled cars all over the room. It was hilarious. Fiona, who’s Johnny’s daughter, is 11 now, she’d look after the little ones.
“They’d jump on their big cousin Paul, my sister Tricia’s son. Madeleine’s disappearance has been hard on the children. They tend not to talk about it, and insist that they’re fine and can cope.”
A Foreign Office spokesman denied claims that it had requested the postponement of police interviews until after Christmas to protect the family.
He said: “The Foreign Office remains in contact with the Portuguese authorities and police and will continue to offer assistance. The Portuguese investigation continues.”
A police source said: “It is not Policia Judiciaria practice to carry out interrogations at Christmas unless it is absolutely necessary.”

From Spudgun
It would be most erroneous to judge the Spanish ‘Ace’ Agency in terms of their investigative prowess. That is NOT what they were hired to do. Certainly, the McCanns wouldn’t touch anyone with a barge pole who might even remotely unearth one scintilla of the TRUTH!!
No, Metodo 3 were hired because, unlike the REAL police investigating this case who refused to tow the McCann Party Line, they needed another Police force, albeit a fake one, who could tell the world what the PJ wouldn’t.
Which is why, since their inception, there has been unlimited sightings of Madeleine in Spain, Bosnia, and Morocco; combined with the fact that our intrepid heroes are hot on the ‘abductors’ heels, whether it be Murat, / his Girlfriend, / his Mother, / all three, / Saudi Arabian Paedophiles, / local Portuguese Paedophiles,/ Moroccan Drug dealing child stealing mountain dwellers or swarthy men who spend their lives dragging blonde haired children into cars who are crying for their father/mother.
All of which are clearly responsible and unquestionably guilty; and all of which were clearly overlooked, ignored or missed by those useless, boozy, inadequate, Porto plod!!, but for whose efforts Madeleine would have been rescued and the perpetrators brought to justice.
£50,000 per month for Metodo3 ? Dirt cheap. A mere fraction of what it would cost to otherwise persuade every single UK media outlet, press and television, to faithfully print and broadcast every single word of garbage!!!

In fact, didn’t the bulk of the Tapas Mob go home on May 4?
I was thinking about other people’s photos and realised that most people don’t take photos of other people for privacy reasons…whether consciously or not. I know I don’t usually do that unless it’s just a crowd.
What were the travel arrangements? Does anyone know? Like did they all go out from East Midlands together or did the southerners (Exeter) go from London?
I know O’Donnell mentioned the police asking who the girl was in the photo - perhaps that was her way of saying to the McCanns “we don’t think Madeleine was ever there”?

Oh. Well, lookee here….I had a thought just now….
Do you recall how Murat’s lawyer claimed his client was innocent of any wrongdoing, but “guilty only of a virtual crime?”
Perhaps you have something here….I always thought that statement was odd. But maybe, if Mad died/was killed/was sold/etc. in the UK, they’d need a girl child to get through immigration (at least the CCTV), and to be seen by the pool, in the kid’s club, etc. for a few days….perhaps they went overboard in then trying to finger Murat as the abductor. Or maybe Murat’s been in on the setup, just never thought things would get so out of hand….
But the British couple and their car also interests me. And like we said, if Madeleine was IVF, biological parentage could be VERY uncertain….
Stevo, are you reading, boyo? What do you think?
“Guilty only of a virtual crime….”
Does that have legs, or what?
