Madeleine McCann: The Age Of Jose Anes, Gerry McCann’s Fury And Murat’s Nannies Know Best
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “No one will ever stand trial”
Because no one has been charged with any crime?
Or: “NOBODY will EVER stand trial over missing Madeleine McCann because cops made so many vital blunders,” says the Sun. And so too says Jose Anes, 62: “Mistakes in the early hours demolished the entire case”
The ex-director of Lisbon’s police lab is “Portugal’s top forensic expert”, a billing the lab’s current director may dispute
Mr Anes says: “If the scene is not preserved in the first hours, all the hours of effort that follow are useless. I am utterly convinced — unless some new, concrete evidence suddenly emerges — the case will never reach trial”
But what of the evidence gathered so far, like the DNA samples found in the McCanns’ hire car?
“Maddie sniffer dog ‘was rigged’” - Gerry McCann is “FURIOUS” – as often he is. He “believes sniffer dogs used to find Maddie clues in the family’s hire car were MANIPULATED by cops”
Says a “source close to the couple”: “Gerry says a dog went up to the Scenic, sniffed around and went to head off. He watched the dog being brought back to the vehicle. Finally, it reacts around the boot area. Gerry was open-mouthed at that, he feels the dog was manoeuvred into a position where it could react”
And smell
“Murat pals ’saw him near flat’” – “SUSPECT Robert Murat was PALS with British holiday nannies who say they saw him the night Maddie vanished, it has emerged”
Good friends? “And at least two of the girls knew him well enough to be on first name terms”
That’s close, eh
“A source confirmed yesterday that he did befriend several girls, adding: ‘A lot are attractive and he made a beeline for them. When they were asked who was near the apartment that night, several mentioned Murat”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine: Forensics expert says inquiry is ‘complete waste’ because of police blunders at apartment”
Says Jose Manuel Anes: “Huge amounts of money were spent but if, in the first hours, the due precautions for the preservation of the crime scene were not taken, all this hard work goes down the drain. We can spend rivers of money which will all go down the drain if the crime scene is not properly isolated”
The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “It is alarming to hear that Mr Anes has this view. All we want, and have done throughout, is to ensure the operational police side of this has been done in an effective and efficient manner as possible”
And why is Mr Anes – “the 62-year-old” - speaking out now? Because he’s making his comments known in a book called The McCanns’ Guilt – not that the case will ever, come to trial, you understand
“Madeleine: Gerry’s fury at ‘bungling’ dog handlers” – More Gerry McCann fury
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE COPS HIDE WITNESS”
Says the paper: “The key witness in the Madeleine McCann inquiry was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal” – Jane Tanner? Kate McCann? Gerry McCann? No, the unnamed Portuguese tapas waiter…
“Pals say he is terrified his identity is about to be revealed and claim he is also scared of British and Portuguese government influence in the probe…Friends add that he is worried about the private eyes hired by Gerry and Kate McCann, both 39, to help find their daughter”
One former work colleague of the waiter says: “He does not want to be involved in any of this. Through no fault of his own he finds himself at the heart of this worldwide mystery”
DAILY EXPRESS: “MADELEINE: WITNESS GOES ON THE RUN ‘TO PROTECT HIS EVIDENCE’”
“THE key witness in the missing Madeleine McCann case was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal”
“POLICE WERE ‘SIDETRACKED’ BY MCCANNS” - Former police crime scene chief Jose Manuel Anes is “ONE of Portugal’s top forensic experts”
The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER investigates. Mr Anes is “71”
And “last night hinted that Kate and Gerry McCann were partly to blame for the flawed investigation into their daughter’s disappearance”. Although the Sun says it was those bungling Portuguese police (see above)?
“They should not have been thinking of the poor little parents but I understand the human dimension and the pressure which immediately involved the investigators. Sometimes the police are too human. The police must be absolutely objective. Somebody’s suggestions and complaints connected to a person’s disappearance should be set aside while the evidence is being gathered. In the moments immediately following the occurrence the goal is to gather everything and preserve everything”
Not bungling, rather too caring; too human
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann DNA clue ‘useless’”
Jose Manuel Anes is 62. He is the retired head of Portugal’s police science laboratory.
He tells the Mirror, and everyone else: “I fear the case will never reach trial” - and even if it did, no jury would be able to convict anyone.
BBC: Audience for BBC News 24 peaked in 2007 at 8.2 million in the week ending 1 July for the bomb attack on Glasgow Airport and at 7.9 million for the story of the kidnapping of Madeleine McCann in the week ending 13 May

I think they did mention crossing the road on Panorama Tony. I always assumed they had a conversation by the alleyway at the corner of Apartment 5A. I always thought it odd they’d cross the road there - what for?
I agree. An hour’s walk is a long time doing nothing. Especially in streets with little or nothing going on. Plus, wasn’t he close to the apartments in the middle of his hour? It makes little sense.

Bring on the accountants, and you’ll find out how much Madeleine’s disappearance was worth to him. It’s quite fair to ask whether the BBC/CBS paid for his footage–CBS says it did. Did the networks also pay for his stills/videos of madeleine’s birthday party, etc.?
Someone like Stevo should coordinate the dates that the queer pool pic actually appeared–and was given to the PJ–was Corner in PDL yet? Did he send it in by email? That may be what the PJ are looking for in terms of computers. Did they create the pic, then put it on a camera card? There are a lot of interesting questions here.
Corner lost all credibility with me when he lay down on the ground and just pointed his camera up and down, back and forth, to apartments across the way and said, “look! the abductor might have been there, or there, or there or there or there…”
It was a very childish kind of footage. Very early filmschool stuff.
How much Corner was paid, and who paid his various expenses, will tell you a lot about motive in this case. Anytime someone hires their own private videographer–even someone like previous Presidential candidate John (not “Jon”) Kerry, you have to wonder why. Why did kerry want to have a ready-made movie of his Vietnam heroism displays, his Swift boat maneuvering? Was it just a lucky fluke, or did he thoroughly desire to run for the presidency even back then, and wanted to be able to prove his heroism/manhood down the road?
What did the McCanns want to do by hiring Corner to film them during their “trauma?” In fact, they are all so shockingly oblivious to what their vids really show about all three of them.

Remigius, yes, I remember the stomach problems of Gerry’s.
I thought it was strange to talk about it, this is very privet.
Yes, it could have been a secret message.
Though its very sad to use shit to communicate about Maddie.

“Did the media ever publish about Gerry crossing the street on that night, meeting that TV producer, who was walking around with a crying baby in a buggy? I knew about the TV producer but I never heard of the baby before. And the TV producer seem to have told this story (baby) much later to the Britsh police. Odd, such a important person in this story”.
REPLY: I think you are new on this forum? Well, I’m glad you posted that comment.
For I must confess I had never heard about this crying baby before, and Gerry and Jeremy Wilkins meeting each other with Gerry pushing a pushchair. According to all the early reports, they stopped for 10-15 minutes and discussed playing tennis.
Tennis!
Again!
And there was nothing about crossing the road before, either. As far as I can recall.
It was one of many queries I had about the Bridget O’Donnell story that makes me doubt if she and ‘Jes’ Wilkins are telling us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
The sudden introduction of this baby (unless I am mistaken about that), and the claim that ‘Jes’ left his partner for an hour to walk around in the dusk and dark in order to settle a crying baby, both IMO raise suspicions

Even if Madeleine was taken by new parents or a fake abductor - what kind of thing is that to do with a toddler? Using her as a pawn for some financial gain? For the hell that poor girl has had to endure, I blame the parents fair and square for the whole fiasco - whatever the outcome. Had they sat in the room or taken the kids to the Tapas Bar (as did the Hertfordshire couple), Madeleine would be here today…assuming she was ever in PDL of course.

Mr. Bennett:
I doubt it necessary to remind you that Pope Benedict has attacked and denounced, in turn, Islam, the Protestant Church, the Orthodox Church, and Atheism. Are we to have a re-ignition of the Religious Wars?
Perhaps, this Christmastide, His Holiness might beholdest not the mote in his brother’s eye, but considerest the beam in his own.
I generalise, of course.

I must be spending too much time on this forum - I had a very strange and vivid dream that I was in Portugal in some sort of farmhouse - not at all dilapidated. Kate was there and another older motherly woman. Madeleine was running around but I felt great sadness instead of elation. Kate was silent and tragic and seemed emotionally tortured. I don.t claim any sort of pyschic vision here, it was just a dream, but I woke up disturbed and it took me some time to shake off that feeling.

When that happens, it’s a sign from the great god Psychology to spend less time here.

When Gerry talks about meeting Jes, and jane Tanner talks about seeing Gerry and Jes, none of them say anything about having a baby there. Gerry says that it was completely quiet in the street–so, no crying baby.
The baby comes out in Mrs. Eggman’s article.

That’s favourite. Like everything with McCann written on it - a total mystery. Would you drive 120 miles (2 hrs +) to drop off some leaflets in a town that already had posters of your child? On a day when you were supposed to go the previous day but now everything is closed including the church you intended going to? Wouldn’t you want to stay there a whole afternoon at least?

Or perhaps, as they headed off to Huelva, some other Tapas 9ers or “close friends and relatives” took the body/remains, and headed the other way…while everyone was watching Gerry, kate, Corner & company?

All I would like to say, one week before Christmas. Beyond my wildest dreams, I would wish for Madeleine to be home for Christmas> If this is not going to happen, then my deepest wish is that those involved will be caught in enough time, so that there Christmas days will not be spent with all the trimmings and gumph intended on that particular day. What they deserve is a 4X4 cell with plenty of time to sit and ponder about how they let a small 3-year old down …. and then their punishment and haunting of the rest of their lives will start.
Maddy, sweet girl, your member will never be forgotten!

I think the video was a mobile phone video - hence the low quality. I’m not sure which Tapasman did it.
As for John Corner, he’s not a very credible witness in many respects. Firstly, he’s “family”…or as good as. Isn’t his wife a long term friend of Kate? Then you have to factor in that he’s Madeleine’s Godfather. Not at all good for credibility with no bias eh?
***********
It’s JON Corner, River media, godfather.
His film may be worth something, in time. A part may have been bought in by Panorama, but who am I to speculate?
Fact is, he was doing a McCann video, and had already done some still to video footage.

Forgot to say–
Incessant crying is a sign that something is not right between father/mother and baby. My son cried once in a while, but never incessantly. Was colicky on two occasions. But if something is distressing the infant, and the “something” is not fixed or removed, then the crying will continue because babies have no other way in which to communicate their distress.
I am not talking about Dr. Who screwdrivers.
I am talking about children in need of a non-stressful, supportive situation, which clearly, Mrs. Eggman’s baby wasn’t getting. This could be the result of a lot of things. But colic? No, they aren’t necessarily synonymous. Babies pick up on a lot of parental angst, anxiety, distress, anger, etc., and on a “vacation,” in a strange environment, suddenly Mrs. Eggman and her “partner” (who for whatever reason aren’t married) have an incessantly crying child. One wonders: Were the Eggmans having frequent arguments? She alludes to some kind of discord when she talks about how Jess observed kate’s adoration of Gerry’s tennis talk. Mrs. Eggman is not as beautiful, not as adoring, not as appreciative of Jes’s prowess on the court as Kate is of Gerry’s.
Weird!
Kooky!
And that kind of incipipent tension very likely contributes to the baby’s misery. so it cries, without ceasing, and its parents clearly have no real clue as to how to comfort it.
I pity them all, honestly.
