Madeleine McCann: Praia da Luz Calls, Maddy Shunned And Portugal On The Edge
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MAIL page 36: “Madeleine: Portuguese detectives trawl thousands of phone records”
Police are looking through phone records of Praia da Luz’a 27,000 residents at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance. They are looking for unusual call patterns. Bugging calls
A local resident of Praia da Luz says the police questioned her, saying: “We are investigating all calls made within Praia da Luz from 9.30pm onwards on May 3″
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “Any information could prove vital”
THE SUN page 15: “Maddie cops seize local phone bills”
“They are using a method of triangulation which pinpoints a person’s location via their mobile and are also checking land-line calls”
Can it work? Says the Sun: “Mobile phone evidence exposed holes in the alibi of Soham murderer Ian Huntley”. And that is similar to this case because..?
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY – Blitz to fined phone clues”
Page 10: “COPS CHECK EVERY CALL ON DAY MADDY VANISHED”
Well, not every call. Just calls made in the area of Praia da Luz by those 1,000 persons on a police list
DAILY EXPRESS page 19: “Now Madeleine police seize all phone records”
The papers says the search is in light of talk of a “massive conspiracy”. The Express is belived to be fond of a conspiracy
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Kate and Gerry are encouraged by this police work because it shows the investigation is now active and thorough…Crucially they also hope it may lead to them being reunited with Madeleine”
DAILY STAR: “PARENTS SHY AWAY FROM NAME ‘MADDY’”
Or Madeleine, for that is her name
The name Madeleine is “now lower than at any time in the past five years”. It is now the 80th most popular name. Says a child psychologist called Ruth: “The majority of people who hear the name Madeleine automatically associate it with her”
What the top girl’s name is readers are not told, nor where Kate features. The Telegraph says it is “Grace”, as in Baby Grace
NEW YORK TIMES: “Portugal Polishes Its Image as the ‘West Coast of Europe’”
Portugal wants to reposition itself. Portugal is exciting, shiny, new and historical.
But: “The unsolved case remains a big story for the British tabloids, and there have been reports of declines in tourism from Britain, an important market for Portugal.
“Over all, though, tourism remains strong, Manuel Pinho, Portugal’s minister for the economy and innovation said. ‘This is a tragic case, of course, but it has not affected the numbers,’ he said. ‘It’s a very peaceful country, a very safe country’”

Guilty!
I admit to the imbibing of wine in the bath. And I stand by my comment!
I had to change / extend my name. Mods and Admin and I had a slight problem. Which was nothing to do with my postings, but something connected to my work computer.
I must admit, in my ever so humble opinion, it would appear more logical for something to have happened to Madeleine earlier in the week. The timescale of the “abduction” is so tight as to be unbelievable.
For it to have happened that night, the clean up operation et al had to have been carried out by Mary Poppins and her clicking fingers, or Samantha and her wiggly nose in Bewitched. ( The Elizabeth Montgomery version - not Liz Hurley!).
But if they had more time then the clean up, including the washing, drying and rehanging of curtains would appear to make more sense.
And those excavations would have still been open that night. Were’nt they filled in before Madeleine officially went missing?
The photos, as lots have said, look contrived.
And maybe Mrs Webster is the Tapas 1 who wanted to change her story?

Weren’t you the one with the absolutely delightful “glass of wine in the bath” saying a couple of weeks ago?
Whichever way I look at it, I have no belief whatsoever that Madeleine was still alive on 3 May! I still believe that a terrible accident occurred prior to this, and that the time required to set up such a “perfect abduction” was used to its fullest up until the time that Kate screeched out that she’d been taken at 10 pm on 3 May! IMHO of course!

With all this speculation re Madeleine’s departure being before May 3…… Do the panel think this is why O’Brian said he had a sick child?
And needed clean sheets?
So he could distance himself from what was really going on. And never thought that his “alibi” wouldn’t stand up, because he didn’t actually ask for the sheets?

509 Tony …. Missing children statistics are absolutely shocking in each and every country! Your average man in the street (sorry if this is an offensive term to anyone) has absolutely no idea of how many children go missing without a trace. In my country alone, there are currently in excess of 980 children (reported to authorities) who have disappeared without a trace! Where are these children, why are their cases not widely publicised, who is responsible for their disappearances, why do people not care? WHAT MORE CAN WE DO????

DAVID ICKE’S TAKE ON MADELEINE MCCANN - FROM HIS LATEST NEWSLETTER
Before posting this, I hasten to add that I do not read any of David Icke’s stuff, this was sent to me by someone who knows of my interest in the ‘disappearance’ of Madeleine McCann and saw the reference to her in the newsletter (which I think was dated last week).
His reference to Madeleine is: “…the missing British girl, Madeleine McCann, who was abducted while on holiday in Portugal…”
Here’s the rest of it:

QUOTE
Hello all…
I have a crew from Belgian national television coming to see me on Monday to talk about the global trafficking of children. This is especially significant in Belgium after the child kidnappings and murders in the mid-1990s that threatened to implicate the country’s political establishment and other famous names.
How they got away with it and pinned it all on a sick and pathetic paedophile and child-supplier called Marc Dutroux was the classic establishment response to danger that is repeated constantly across the world.
Often I hear people say that if child abuse, kidnap and murder was happening on the scale I suggest then ‘they’ would not be able to keep it under wraps. What happened in Belgium shows that they can.
As I have said so many times, people generally don’t get their views and opinions from researched information, but from an ‘image’, an ‘impression’, of how things are. With regard to missing children, this ‘impression’ is heavily influenced by the number of lost children stories they see in the media.
If we are talking the national media there are very few. The enormous coverage of the missing British girl, Madeleine McCann, who was abducted while on holiday in Portugal, is a rare example compared with the number of children who disappear every year.
While people get their impression of scale from the lost children featured in the media, staggering numbers of children go missing never to be seen again. I remember calling many American states a few years ago to ask for their missing children figures and it was truly extraordinary. On average, around 3,000 children a day are reported missing in the United States, never mind those the authorities never hear about. Add them together and you are talking hundreds of thousands of children.
Belgium is a small country of some ten million people and yet in the Brussels region alone it was revealed that 1,300 minors disappeared between 1991 and 1996. Around the world you find the same repeating story and multi-millions of children go missing every year never to be found.
Where do they go?

Less news day by day, although there are always news. Remember what I told you yesterday, or two days ago? Thanks the Lord the PJ keeps on working, no matter if its Christmas or Summer holidays…. they simply don’t stop. Today, we have had the phone calls tracking…
They’re framed. And who knows if Metodo-3 people are charged too at the end.
Go to bed (exhausted after a working day full of horrendous meetings). Bye

I wonder why this is?

American Football sends me to sleep. A 1 hour game spread out over 3 hours - what’s that about? And two complete teams on each side as well? Oh, and add in no offside.
American Football players wouldn’t last 10 minutes in a pro-rugby game in Europe or anywhere else in the world.
