Madeleine McCann: 4650 Articles, Christian Ridout Was Here And Lawless Morocco
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: Poster blitz in Morocco”
“More than 11,000 letters and posters have been distributed in remote parts of the North African country to jog the memory of someone who may have seen the little girl”
A spokesman says: “E-mail is great within larger towns and cities, but there are still a lot of people who do not have Madeleine’s picture or the phone contact details to report sightings or information”
Do you have Madeleine’s picture? Do you know the phone number?
DAILY MAIL: “Letter blitz on remote Moroccan mountain villages that Madeleine McCann campaign cannot reach”
“Agents [of Metodo 3] have distributed photographs of the little girl with an appeal in French and Arabic to call with information about her whereabouts. But it has proved difficult to reach all of the isolated communities where a child could have been taken, many of which are in lawless, mountainous regions”
Those lawless Moroccans…
“Madeleine: Private detectives hunt for British barman known as DJ Shifty, accused of grooming an under-age girl for sex”
“Part-time barman and disc jockey Christian Ridout, 32, allegedly sent the British girl obscene text messages when he worked in an expats’ pub 200 yards from where Madeleine disappeared. When the 12-year-old’s mother discovered the explicit messages, Ridout - also known as DJ Shifty - left Portugal in a hurry”
A suspect?
Says the paper: “By coincidence, the Ridout family were next-door neighbours of the family of Robert Murat, the chief suspect in the Madeleine hunt, when the Murats lived in the nearby village of Almadena. The night after Madeleine went missing, a British expat walked into the Plough and Harrow pub in Praia da Luz, still owned by his parents Tony, 57, and Jill, 58, and asked: ‘Where’s Christian then?’ Locals have disparagingly nicknamed the pub ‘The Plough and Paedophile‘ and the missing man is widely disliked in the tight-knit community”
So where is Christian? Well, he left Praia da Luz a few years ago. His mother says she has not seen him for two years. Says the girl’s mother: “I went in to see them just before Madeleine disappeared and they confirmed they’re still looking for him. ‘No one knows where he is, but he could have been back to this area”
Or not…
THE SUN front page: “Publicity blitz for Maddie in Africa”
“Many still don’t recognise her”
Help make Madeleine McCann the world’s most recognisable face
“Despite a massive campaign highlighting the seven-month search for their daughter, experts believe many in the north African country still lack the crucial information they need to help trace her”
Many?
“Now a silent army of volunteers from the Helping To Find Madeleine campaign have given their time over the festive period to flood businesses across the nation with 11,500 letters and posters”
Not so silent
“The initiative comes after the McCanns’ Spanish detective agency pin-pointed Morocco as the most likely place little Maddie may have been taken”
Can you pinpoint a “likely place” to an entire nation? Is this detective work or guesswork?
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”. Fact
Kate pins on badge of hope: “ANGUISHED Kate McCann returned to church yesterday – with a badge of hope bearing a picture of missing Madeleine pinned close to her heart”
A new merchandise push?
One “worshipper” at Kate’s church says: “Every mother wants to cuddle her children at Christmas – it’s heartbreaking that Kate has been denied that. The badge is a symbol of hope that could help focus new eyes on the hunt for Madeleine”
“347 new Maddie calls combed” - The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “We are pleased with the calls and they are continuing to come in. Every single call is much appreciated and we are going through them with a fine-tooth comb. Any that need to be acted upon swiftly are being acted upon swiftly. We don’t go into detail because if there is any significant information”
DAILY STAR: “TECS: MADDIE BEING HELD IN MOROCCO”
“More than 11,500 posters appealing for information about the youngster have been sent out to the furthest reaches of the north African country”
Francisco Marco, the PI hired by the McCanns, says: “Morocco is the perfect place to hide a kidnapped girl”. He has said this before. Is Morocco the perfect place? Why not Algeria? Or Malta?
DAILY RECORD: “Maddie Poster Blitz In Morocco”
“Schools, supermarkets and medical centres are being blitzed with thousands of photos of the missing four-year-old. And letters written in French and Arabic are being sent to towns and villages in the most remote parts of the country”
Madeleine in Morocco. Or not. Again… Isabel Gonzalez saw her. Mari Pollard saw her
Clarence Mitchell says: “Anyone who puts effort into assisting us in any way, we are incredibly grateful for, and it sounds like they have done a fantastic job. I have no doubt that it is this kind of effort and initiatives that will lead us to finding Madeleine”
Gerry and Kate McCann are “doctors”
THE GUARDIAN: “From Mr Bean to Shambo the bull, the media obsessions of 2007”
A review: “Almost nine months after she vanished, we know a lot about Madeleine McCann and her family. We know the legal implications of being named an official suspect in a Portuguese criminal investigation. What we do not know is who took her, if she is alive and whether any trace of her will ever be found again. A total of 4,650 articles have appeared in British newspapers since she disappeared on May 3”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madness, badness, hate and heroism - Robert McNeil continues his unique take on the events of 2007 with a look back at the second three months of the year…”
“Hell also visited the parents of three-year-old Madeleine McCann on 3 May when the toddler disappeared from their holiday apartment in the Algarve. In the ensuing months, Kate and Gerry McCann used the media to keep the case in the public eye. The Portuguese police did the same, but their efforts were directed more at casting doubts on the McCanns and their friends. Supposed sightings of Madeleine were reported periodically, but each time hopes were dashed”
THE TIMES: “Hundreds ring hotline after Madeleine plea”
Yesterday in the latest entry on his internet diary, Mr McCann wrote: “Madeleine should not be spending Christmas away from her loving family. The person who took her has it in their power to end our suffering and will be able to appease their conscience that they have done the right thing – especially at this time of year. Kate and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write to us and let us know Madeleine and our family are still in their thoughts and prayers. We still have at least one hundred cards to open! As always, every single one will be read and the support expressed helps renew our determination to find Madeleine”
The story, speculation and sensation…

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN GERRY MCCANN CHECKED ON HIS CHILDREN AT 9.05PM
I regard all of this as pure fabrication, but nevertheles for the sake of accuracy let us have David Smith’s account from ‘The Times’ reproduced here again:
QUOTE
They had just ordered starters when the routine of checking began. Matt Oldfield went first at 8.55 to check his own apartment and to hurry up the Paynes, who had still not arrived.
He was followed by Gerry, who entered his apartment at about 9.05 through the patio doors to the lounge. Earlier that week the McCanns had used a key to go in through the front door next to the children’s bedroom but, worrying the noise might wake the children, they began using the patio doors, leaving them unlocked.
When he entered the apartment, Gerry immediately saw that the children’s bedroom door, which they always left just ajar, was now open to 45 degrees. He thought that was odd, and glanced in his own bedroom to see if Madeleine had gone into her parents’ bed. But no, she and the twins were all still fast asleep.
Gerry paused over Madeleine, who – a typical doctor’s observation, this – was lying almost in ‘the recovery position’ with Cuddle Cat, the toy her godfather, John Corner, had bought her, and her comfort blanket up near her head, and Gerry thought how gorgeous, how lovely-looking she was and how lucky he was. Putting the door back to five degrees, he went to the loo and left to return to the restaurant. That, of course, was the last time he would see his daughter.

If you are inocent ,you don’t need to request the “ARGUIDO” Status

The clumps of hair in the boot might have evidence of sedatives and death.
Also Gerry knows that calpol night time is legal.
They probably only checked for unexplainable traces of sedatives.
Maybe only Madeleine needed sedating alot.

Can’t agree more. ADHD is one of my bugbears. I call it Spoiled Brat Syndrome or Neglected Child Syndrome - always caused by some form of bad parenting. Sadly the answer to it here in the US is to prescribe the child a pill like ritalin. If I was a doctor I’d prescribe a mirror for the child’s parent/carer.

Medical tests require the consent of the the parents; police cannot insist on a child being taken to hospital for tests when the two parents, both doctors, refuse consent…
**********
It’s a lovely catch 22 Chenier, they can only refuse consent if it is reasonable to do so, and in the child’s best interests……..one of those examples of how actually your children are not your property to do with as you please…although I will grant you, ’someone’ - ie Social Services, would need to challenge them on this one.
—————————————————————————-
Indeed; a court would give an order in this country but that would need someone prepared to go to the courts to act on the children’s behalf together with evidence that the parents were not acting in their child’s best interests.
And to be blunt, very few doctors would be prepared to argue that two other doctors were behaving unreasonably…

Chloe, when people in Portugal refuse to ask questions their lawyer asks for the arguido status, because this is the only way they can refuse answering questions. (without going to jail) If the Mcs didn’t ask for the arguido, they would be in jail by now.
But of course, with the arguido status they remain suspects and cannot move from the domicile they give to the police.
Mcs chose to have domicile in UK.
When they got to the UK, they hired Pinochet lawyer (to fight extradition) and started putting pressure on the PJ for the arguido to be lifted. Clarence Mitchell has said so.
The only way for the arguido status to be lifted is by cooperating with the PJ and answering all their questions and doing whatever they are asked to do, reconstruction in the crime scene, for example…

GARTH - HOW THE ABDUCTOR SPIRITED MADELEINE AWAY
In Garth’s own words:
QUOTE
1. The abductor opened up the shutter first. Picked up Madeleine out of her bed. Sat with his backside on the window sill. Lifted his leg over and out so as to ’straddle’ the seal, and then…wait for it…he manoeuvred the other leg over and through the window and put both feet firmly on the ground. He then toddled off. Easy. Especially with a small child.
2. There was an accomplice.

I have not been able to find any authoritative source for the claim that the McCanns refused to provide a urine sample for their twins to the PJ in the first week of the investigation. Though they might well have refused.
But there was this in ‘The Times’ in October:
‘FORENSIC TESTS SHOW TWINS WERE NOT SEDATED’, CLAIM MCCANNS
QUOTE
Forensic tests on the brother and sister of Madeleine McCann have shown that neither was sedated, it was claimed yesterday.
Portuguese newspapers have repeatedly alleged that hair samples from Kate and Gerry McCann’s children show that the couple sedated the two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie, and Madeleine on the night that she disappeared.
But it is understood that the couple have commissioned their own tests, which found no traces of sedatives in hair samples from Sean and Amelie.
A source close to the couple said: “Any legal team worth their salt would have these kinds of tests done. No evidence of sedatives were found iMadeleine disappeared from an apartment in Praia da Luz, southern Portugal, more than five months ago. Experts said that traces of any drugs would be retained in their hair.
Rachel Woods, the general manager of TrichoTech, a private toxicology laboratory that carries out tests on behalf of the Home Office, said: “Anything that enters the blood-stream also enters the root of hairs and stays in the same position as the hair grows. If there was nothing found in the hair, that’s pretty clear-cut.” David Gerrie, an analyst at Guy’s Hospital Medical Toxicology Unit, said: “Traces will remain in the hair until it falls out or is cut. Hair grows at about 1cm per month so to test for five months ago you would need a 5cm-long hair.”
Kate and Gerry McCann, both doctors, have vehemently denied sedating their children and have threatened to sue Portuguese newspapers that carry such allegations.
Clarence Mitchell, a spokesman for the couple, said: “I’m more than happy yet again to confirm that Kate and Gerry have never used sedatives on their children. Any suggestion that they did so is both hurtful and defamatory.”

135 Gary (Garth) says (December 27th, 2007 at 12:21 pm):
“When Gerry was questioned about the timeline and doubt was cast over his alibi…it just might have then occurred to him that the abductor could well have been in the apartment prior to his checking. Bearing in mind that they then exited via the window…he then may have recalled…that the twins appeared to sleep through all the mayhem of that night, thus he made his claim that they could have beeen sedated”.
REPLY: How? An injection? Two sets of cotton wool with ether on then? Stuffing some Calpol down their throats? The contortions through which Team McCann are going to try and convince us there really was an abduction are truly fascinating.
And how about answering this one, Gary.
When the abductor climbed out of the window, did he:
a) have Madeleine tucked under his left or right arm?
b) have her over one of his shoulders?
c) put her down on the floor in the bedroom, climb out of the window, and then reach over back into the bedroom and pick her up?
d) put her down outside the window, then climb out and pick her up?
e) other?
————————————–
Okay then Tony lets debate the abduction scenario.
But lets be clear before we start. Sedation is not something that I am saying didnt happen as your post implies that. hmm? I’m just making suggestions as to the ‘thinking’ behind Gerrys comment which was not made on the night of the abduction.
So thats put that straight………I hope!
Obviously if she was sedated any one of the number of ways you mentioj is possible. But, even if she wasnt there are quite simply to alternatives
1 the abductor opened up the shutter first. Picked up Madeleine out of her bed. Sat with his backside on the window seal. Lifted his leg over and out so as to ’straddle’ the seal, and then…and wiat for it……he manouvred the other leg over and through the window and put both feef firmly on the ground. He then toddled off. Easy. Especially with a small child.
2 there was an accomplice.

No.
What you maintain is that the PJ are to blame for everything that happened to Madeleine and her parents and her parents’ friends.
If the aliens had landed to collect the twins you would maintain that it’s Portugal’s fault for failing to maintain a space force.
The notion of taking responsibility for one’s actions seems entirely foreign to you.
Sadly, it appears to have been entirely foreign to the Tapas 9 as well…
