Madeleine McCann: 4650 Articles, Christian Ridout Was Here And Lawless Morocco
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: Poster blitz in Morocco”
“More than 11,000 letters and posters have been distributed in remote parts of the North African country to jog the memory of someone who may have seen the little girl”
A spokesman says: “E-mail is great within larger towns and cities, but there are still a lot of people who do not have Madeleine’s picture or the phone contact details to report sightings or information”
Do you have Madeleine’s picture? Do you know the phone number?
DAILY MAIL: “Letter blitz on remote Moroccan mountain villages that Madeleine McCann campaign cannot reach”
“Agents [of Metodo 3] have distributed photographs of the little girl with an appeal in French and Arabic to call with information about her whereabouts. But it has proved difficult to reach all of the isolated communities where a child could have been taken, many of which are in lawless, mountainous regions”
Those lawless Moroccans…
“Madeleine: Private detectives hunt for British barman known as DJ Shifty, accused of grooming an under-age girl for sex”
“Part-time barman and disc jockey Christian Ridout, 32, allegedly sent the British girl obscene text messages when he worked in an expats’ pub 200 yards from where Madeleine disappeared. When the 12-year-old’s mother discovered the explicit messages, Ridout - also known as DJ Shifty - left Portugal in a hurry”
A suspect?
Says the paper: “By coincidence, the Ridout family were next-door neighbours of the family of Robert Murat, the chief suspect in the Madeleine hunt, when the Murats lived in the nearby village of Almadena. The night after Madeleine went missing, a British expat walked into the Plough and Harrow pub in Praia da Luz, still owned by his parents Tony, 57, and Jill, 58, and asked: ‘Where’s Christian then?’ Locals have disparagingly nicknamed the pub ‘The Plough and Paedophile‘ and the missing man is widely disliked in the tight-knit community”
So where is Christian? Well, he left Praia da Luz a few years ago. His mother says she has not seen him for two years. Says the girl’s mother: “I went in to see them just before Madeleine disappeared and they confirmed they’re still looking for him. ‘No one knows where he is, but he could have been back to this area”
Or not…
THE SUN front page: “Publicity blitz for Maddie in Africa”
“Many still don’t recognise her”
Help make Madeleine McCann the world’s most recognisable face
“Despite a massive campaign highlighting the seven-month search for their daughter, experts believe many in the north African country still lack the crucial information they need to help trace her”
Many?
“Now a silent army of volunteers from the Helping To Find Madeleine campaign have given their time over the festive period to flood businesses across the nation with 11,500 letters and posters”
Not so silent
“The initiative comes after the McCanns’ Spanish detective agency pin-pointed Morocco as the most likely place little Maddie may have been taken”
Can you pinpoint a “likely place” to an entire nation? Is this detective work or guesswork?
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”. Fact
Kate pins on badge of hope: “ANGUISHED Kate McCann returned to church yesterday – with a badge of hope bearing a picture of missing Madeleine pinned close to her heart”
A new merchandise push?
One “worshipper” at Kate’s church says: “Every mother wants to cuddle her children at Christmas – it’s heartbreaking that Kate has been denied that. The badge is a symbol of hope that could help focus new eyes on the hunt for Madeleine”
“347 new Maddie calls combed” - The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “We are pleased with the calls and they are continuing to come in. Every single call is much appreciated and we are going through them with a fine-tooth comb. Any that need to be acted upon swiftly are being acted upon swiftly. We don’t go into detail because if there is any significant information”
DAILY STAR: “TECS: MADDIE BEING HELD IN MOROCCO”
“More than 11,500 posters appealing for information about the youngster have been sent out to the furthest reaches of the north African country”
Francisco Marco, the PI hired by the McCanns, says: “Morocco is the perfect place to hide a kidnapped girl”. He has said this before. Is Morocco the perfect place? Why not Algeria? Or Malta?
DAILY RECORD: “Maddie Poster Blitz In Morocco”
“Schools, supermarkets and medical centres are being blitzed with thousands of photos of the missing four-year-old. And letters written in French and Arabic are being sent to towns and villages in the most remote parts of the country”
Madeleine in Morocco. Or not. Again… Isabel Gonzalez saw her. Mari Pollard saw her
Clarence Mitchell says: “Anyone who puts effort into assisting us in any way, we are incredibly grateful for, and it sounds like they have done a fantastic job. I have no doubt that it is this kind of effort and initiatives that will lead us to finding Madeleine”
Gerry and Kate McCann are “doctors”
THE GUARDIAN: “From Mr Bean to Shambo the bull, the media obsessions of 2007”
A review: “Almost nine months after she vanished, we know a lot about Madeleine McCann and her family. We know the legal implications of being named an official suspect in a Portuguese criminal investigation. What we do not know is who took her, if she is alive and whether any trace of her will ever be found again. A total of 4,650 articles have appeared in British newspapers since she disappeared on May 3”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madness, badness, hate and heroism - Robert McNeil continues his unique take on the events of 2007 with a look back at the second three months of the year…”
“Hell also visited the parents of three-year-old Madeleine McCann on 3 May when the toddler disappeared from their holiday apartment in the Algarve. In the ensuing months, Kate and Gerry McCann used the media to keep the case in the public eye. The Portuguese police did the same, but their efforts were directed more at casting doubts on the McCanns and their friends. Supposed sightings of Madeleine were reported periodically, but each time hopes were dashed”
THE TIMES: “Hundreds ring hotline after Madeleine plea”
Yesterday in the latest entry on his internet diary, Mr McCann wrote: “Madeleine should not be spending Christmas away from her loving family. The person who took her has it in their power to end our suffering and will be able to appease their conscience that they have done the right thing – especially at this time of year. Kate and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write to us and let us know Madeleine and our family are still in their thoughts and prayers. We still have at least one hundred cards to open! As always, every single one will be read and the support expressed helps renew our determination to find Madeleine”
The story, speculation and sensation…

Do you have a link which states that congenital adrenal hyperplasia causes rapid hair growth? I would be interested to see where this is stated because I have always understaood that this condition can involve accelerated development such as precocious breast growth and growth of axillary and pubic hair, i.e. a 4 year old can, say, have breasts and body hair. I was not aware that there was rapid growth of head hair because it is not under the same hormonal control as body hair.

Apparently, the bag is not the one in this picture - the one in question ‘disappeared’ around May 3rd. This site has an interesting discussion about it - and it is believed that the PJ may already have it in their possession!

343 Instead of challenging it logically you mean? Yep, thats about the best I’d expect from your level of intelligence ‘ruth’.
The reason people are suspicious is because of the unprecedented level of support the T9 received. If you dont wish to question it, then dont - but why refuse to allow others to?
The older lady alone on holiday with her daughter and son in law raised some questions, is all. But as usual, no one is allowed to question anything are they.
Personally I dont think this case is anything more than well connected doctors failing in their judgement and responsibilities , resulting in an accidental death covered up by their ability to distract attention using their connections and screw up the crime scene.
If we all simply accepted that as a possibility and then logically challenged or supported it, it would be much easier! Sadly, the McCanns have prevented that calm logical approach because they usied the media and are defrauding people from their money - to use for their mortgage, extended holiday, new career development.
They have also sought to defend themselves by accusing others of the crime of neglect, which has angered people - hence fuelling all kinds of theories to explain the McCanns awful behaviour. In short, they created the whole situation they now find themselves in.

Hello,
I’m reading since month on Anorak, today it’s my first posting.
To me there are at least two photos meant to show Madeleine which in fact
show another girl. Those two photos are the one with the Everton Shirt and the one where she is dressed in blue jeanslike clothes. Not only does look the girl much more than 5 years, she has much more finer and blonder hair. The most striking thing is (I think chenier mentionned it yesterday), that middle class children wouldn’t wear a football shirt and wouldn’t wear those blue jeans clothes.
Concerning the description of Tanner of the so called Eggman, could she have told the truth, meaning the Eggspender?
The family photo (the 5 sitting on the floor), who first was coloured and then in black/white seems odd to me in the way that Madeleine is the only one of the 5 looking in a different direction.
Sorry for my English, Mods and Admin feel free to correct.

“All this cods-wallop about “good-parenting” is insulting to the poor beggars who have a child with this disorder. ”
________________
From all the kids I’ve seen with ADHD, I’ve seen the parents as being inept and can blatantly see how they’ve got no idea on how to parent. You must be the exception and must be a great parent struggling with ADHD.
****************************************************
That’s why all of us with genuine cases to handle find ourselves lumped in the same basket as all those you correctly describe as being inept and I have to wonder what happened to that generation who are now so unable to raise their own generation of kids ? I tried hard to get a group going, along with others here, for the teens and pre-teens in the village because I could see so much good talent going to waste but eventually we threw up our hands and stepped back ( metaphorically speaking) as there was no support from their families and I am truly horrified to know what will happen to these kids in the future. One told me he was going to “be like his Dad” when he grew up and left school, so I asked what his Dad did ? “…oh he’s on the dole” he said brightly !! I explained that I and other tax-payers provided the money for the coffers which paid benefits to such wasters and I for one was beginning to a) resent it and b) wonder what happens if three-parts of the country is on the dole and the other part consisting of hard-working , upright individuals are etting taxed to the hilt to support the bastards ? There is always a job to do….
Believe me, I sometimes sit having my “me-time” coffee in such places as Tesco’s and just watch what goes on around me, sometimes I will catch the eye of another Grandparent and we don’t have to say a word ……….we know exactly what we are both thinking !!
Speaking of which…small anecdote…there was a child of about 8 climbing all over the table, his chair and everywhere else whilst picking up his chicken nuggets and chips with his fingers. His long-suffering Mother told him repeatedly to sit properly, eat with his knife and fork and behave himself. Eventually she said “If you don’t soon sit still and eat properly like you have been taught, then I will slap your legs ” Tiny Terror smirks and says ” If you do that I can have you prosecuted !!” he gazed triumphantly around the other diners who suddenly found something frightfully important to do with their mushy peas and gravy ( WTF ??? this from an 8 year-old ?? ) The Mother never raised her eyes from her magazine but quietly said ” Oh…so you want to go and live in a Children’s Home do you ? ” The child looked blank and said “..no…why ? ” so she said ” ..if you prosecute me, I will be deemed an unfit parent and you will be taken to a place of safety i.e. a Children’s Home and I will probably never see you again” Tiny Terror was silent for a while but then said in small voice “..but I don’t want to go and live in a Childrens’ Home” “Ah…” spake the Mother “…then we know what the answer is don’t we ? ” There was a few moments of quiet shuffling as TT sat down in his chair, raised his eating irons and ate in complete silence for the rest of the meal . The silent cheer from the rest of the assembled populace was tangible !! Mother 1 TT 0
What is so sad about that is that this is not the norm nowadays, but why ? why are kids growing up the way they are ? I also witnessed two other little so-and-so’s creating havoc in the same cafe several weeks later and heard the Mother explain that they “…had ADHD” no…they effing didn’t !! they just wanted a good lap across the legs and be taught some manners !!

Can’t agree more. ADHD is one of my bugbears. I call it Spoiled Brat Syndrome or Neglected Child Syndrome - always caused by some form of bad parenting.

possibles for tapas 10 identity (most suggested already at some time)
1 beardie branson
2 window cleaner kennedy
3 ambassador buck
4 comical clarrie
5 drugs company baron
6 diane webster’s partner
i think beardie is unlikely as he would have been recognised by bar staff etc - unless he was wearing a false beard as a disguise
i am very suspicious of buck - he seemed to be there uncomfortably quickly
a drugs company baron is possible, especially if they were involved in some sort of unauthorised ivf trial and especially if the holiday was a freebie - as someone has posted ages ago
any comments?
any suggestions for the list?
this topic could get a swift reaction from the raw nerve department

The clumps of hair in the boot might have evidence of sedatives and death.
Also Gerry knows that calpol night time is legal.
They probably only checked for unexplainable traces of sedatives.
Maybe only Madeleine needed sedating alot.

REPLY: I’m curious - what ‘clumps of hair’ - clumps means a lot - where was that fact stated by the Police? If there were ‘clumps’ as you are stating there would have been absolutely no problem in a DNA test and proven it was from the young child. I remind you proven is a far cry from ’similar to ‘.

So do you think that the parents are to blame for all children’s psychological and behaviour problems? That’s awfully judgemental. And although I agree that children’s responses are very much dependent on the parents’ treatment of them, do you think that giving the parents a mirror would actually help the problem and benefit the child?

Here’s one for you Garth. Did Jon Corner lie or not? You watched Panorama right? Read this account from him on May 7:
Jon Corner, a close friend of Mrs McCann and godparent of the twins, said she telephoned him in the middle of the night distraught.
He said: “She just blurted out that Madeleine had been abducted. She told me, ‘They have broken the shutter on the window and taken my little girl.’
“They had left the apartment locked while they were having their meal, but when they went back the last time they saw the damage.
“First they saw one of the window shutters had been forced, and then they saw the door was open and the bed was empty - and Madeleine was gone.
“Obviously Kate was incredibly upset when she phoned. I have spoken to her since, and she is still completely devastated - as we all are for them.

REPLY: Love the precision! Not ‘left the door ajar’.
And here’s some more precision:
* Abductor was 5′ 7″ not 5′ 9″
* Abductor was 170 cm not 175 cm
* Jane T: Saw abductor at 9.15pm
* Gerry: Checked children at 9.05pm
* Gerry: Arrived Tapas bar 8.30pm
* Checking the children ‘every half hour’
* Told David Payne to ‘check on Kate’ (version 1) or ‘get Kate and the children down to watch me play tennis’ at 6.20pm
* Last photo of Madeleine taken 2.29pm on 3 May
* Jogged to the top of the cliff in only 19 minutes
* Service at church six months after Madeleine ‘disappeared’ - candles lit at precisely 9.30pm - ‘cos that’s when the abductor struck
* 4 bottles of wine consumed and 2 ‘just opened’

This kind of tosh was being published on May 6:
The McCanns weren’t negligent; they did nothing wrong. They were doing only what tens of thousands of us do every year. Yet they will be suffering unimaginable guilt. Their daughter’s disappearance is a freak occurrence, one that triggers feelings of horror - and the deepest sympathy among every one of us.
