Madeleine McCann: 4650 Articles, Christian Ridout Was Here And Lawless Morocco
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: Poster blitz in Morocco”
“More than 11,000 letters and posters have been distributed in remote parts of the North African country to jog the memory of someone who may have seen the little girl”
A spokesman says: “E-mail is great within larger towns and cities, but there are still a lot of people who do not have Madeleine’s picture or the phone contact details to report sightings or information”
Do you have Madeleine’s picture? Do you know the phone number?
DAILY MAIL: “Letter blitz on remote Moroccan mountain villages that Madeleine McCann campaign cannot reach”
“Agents [of Metodo 3] have distributed photographs of the little girl with an appeal in French and Arabic to call with information about her whereabouts. But it has proved difficult to reach all of the isolated communities where a child could have been taken, many of which are in lawless, mountainous regions”
Those lawless Moroccans…
“Madeleine: Private detectives hunt for British barman known as DJ Shifty, accused of grooming an under-age girl for sex”
“Part-time barman and disc jockey Christian Ridout, 32, allegedly sent the British girl obscene text messages when he worked in an expats’ pub 200 yards from where Madeleine disappeared. When the 12-year-old’s mother discovered the explicit messages, Ridout - also known as DJ Shifty - left Portugal in a hurry”
A suspect?
Says the paper: “By coincidence, the Ridout family were next-door neighbours of the family of Robert Murat, the chief suspect in the Madeleine hunt, when the Murats lived in the nearby village of Almadena. The night after Madeleine went missing, a British expat walked into the Plough and Harrow pub in Praia da Luz, still owned by his parents Tony, 57, and Jill, 58, and asked: ‘Where’s Christian then?’ Locals have disparagingly nicknamed the pub ‘The Plough and Paedophile‘ and the missing man is widely disliked in the tight-knit community”
So where is Christian? Well, he left Praia da Luz a few years ago. His mother says she has not seen him for two years. Says the girl’s mother: “I went in to see them just before Madeleine disappeared and they confirmed they’re still looking for him. ‘No one knows where he is, but he could have been back to this area”
Or not…
THE SUN front page: “Publicity blitz for Maddie in Africa”
“Many still don’t recognise her”
Help make Madeleine McCann the world’s most recognisable face
“Despite a massive campaign highlighting the seven-month search for their daughter, experts believe many in the north African country still lack the crucial information they need to help trace her”
Many?
“Now a silent army of volunteers from the Helping To Find Madeleine campaign have given their time over the festive period to flood businesses across the nation with 11,500 letters and posters”
Not so silent
“The initiative comes after the McCanns’ Spanish detective agency pin-pointed Morocco as the most likely place little Maddie may have been taken”
Can you pinpoint a “likely place” to an entire nation? Is this detective work or guesswork?
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”. Fact
Kate pins on badge of hope: “ANGUISHED Kate McCann returned to church yesterday – with a badge of hope bearing a picture of missing Madeleine pinned close to her heart”
A new merchandise push?
One “worshipper” at Kate’s church says: “Every mother wants to cuddle her children at Christmas – it’s heartbreaking that Kate has been denied that. The badge is a symbol of hope that could help focus new eyes on the hunt for Madeleine”
“347 new Maddie calls combed” - The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell says: “We are pleased with the calls and they are continuing to come in. Every single call is much appreciated and we are going through them with a fine-tooth comb. Any that need to be acted upon swiftly are being acted upon swiftly. We don’t go into detail because if there is any significant information”
DAILY STAR: “TECS: MADDIE BEING HELD IN MOROCCO”
“More than 11,500 posters appealing for information about the youngster have been sent out to the furthest reaches of the north African country”
Francisco Marco, the PI hired by the McCanns, says: “Morocco is the perfect place to hide a kidnapped girl”. He has said this before. Is Morocco the perfect place? Why not Algeria? Or Malta?
DAILY RECORD: “Maddie Poster Blitz In Morocco”
“Schools, supermarkets and medical centres are being blitzed with thousands of photos of the missing four-year-old. And letters written in French and Arabic are being sent to towns and villages in the most remote parts of the country”
Madeleine in Morocco. Or not. Again… Isabel Gonzalez saw her. Mari Pollard saw her
Clarence Mitchell says: “Anyone who puts effort into assisting us in any way, we are incredibly grateful for, and it sounds like they have done a fantastic job. I have no doubt that it is this kind of effort and initiatives that will lead us to finding Madeleine”
Gerry and Kate McCann are “doctors”
THE GUARDIAN: “From Mr Bean to Shambo the bull, the media obsessions of 2007”
A review: “Almost nine months after she vanished, we know a lot about Madeleine McCann and her family. We know the legal implications of being named an official suspect in a Portuguese criminal investigation. What we do not know is who took her, if she is alive and whether any trace of her will ever be found again. A total of 4,650 articles have appeared in British newspapers since she disappeared on May 3”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madness, badness, hate and heroism - Robert McNeil continues his unique take on the events of 2007 with a look back at the second three months of the year…”
“Hell also visited the parents of three-year-old Madeleine McCann on 3 May when the toddler disappeared from their holiday apartment in the Algarve. In the ensuing months, Kate and Gerry McCann used the media to keep the case in the public eye. The Portuguese police did the same, but their efforts were directed more at casting doubts on the McCanns and their friends. Supposed sightings of Madeleine were reported periodically, but each time hopes were dashed”
THE TIMES: “Hundreds ring hotline after Madeleine plea”
Yesterday in the latest entry on his internet diary, Mr McCann wrote: “Madeleine should not be spending Christmas away from her loving family. The person who took her has it in their power to end our suffering and will be able to appease their conscience that they have done the right thing – especially at this time of year. Kate and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write to us and let us know Madeleine and our family are still in their thoughts and prayers. We still have at least one hundred cards to open! As always, every single one will be read and the support expressed helps renew our determination to find Madeleine”
The story, speculation and sensation…

They were just being polite. They probably resented your presence , worried that you would harm their twins, and wished you would stay the hell away from their kids.
But what was your point, Cheryl? It got lost in your idiotic rambling. Was y our point that you did not sedate and kill your sister’s children? Neither did your sister? Wow, what a great family you have! Superior to the McCanns, anyway.

A common blind McCann followers response!
Gerry tried to deflect accusations of sedation by pretending he thought an abductor had sedated the kids! Incredible! The idea that a doctor would not have his children tested for suspected illegal sedation by a stranger! Ludicrous!
What more evidence do you need!

Tony, kindly lay off the Catholic Church and the Priest. You were a lawyer you know all courts in the world respect the Secrecy of the Seal of Confession. Furthermore, you are attacking it once again because Maria printed the story on here of the Priest making it quite plain all that was said by a ’supposed’ friend was barbaric and not true. It was further explained why all pictures, etc. were removed from the Church temporarily. …
Having twins is truly double trouble (work) and a 24 hour non-stop caring. You don’t just have one crying baby, one baby that needs changed, one baby that needs a bottle, one baby that needs rocked in the rocking chair - you have two babies to do all that for yet you only have two hands and two arms to hold and cuddle them in. Throw on top of that she also had a toddler crawling around. How do I know that, Tony, personally and hands on experience with twins? My sister and her husband had their first babies (twins) first year of residency. The WHOLE family gathered around and helped them out.

Karen, what a fabulous posting. I love it, because it’s so true and real. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to read something ordinary and real on this forum, I’d begun to give up hope of ever seeing such stuff here again.
Good for you for sticking up for the priest too, I bet he’s a lovely man.

Small children, when frightened, instinctively go to their parents. In Madeleine’s case her instinct was strong, but her powers of reasoning had not developed. She did not realize that the most dangerous place of all to be was around her parents.

You cannot reward a child for not bothering you. You need to know they have woken to address the cause.
My children made it past 4. I did not abandon them and I did not fail them.
The McCanns are not in any position to lecture anyone on childcare.
Your posting is highly revelaing. Please contact social services for advice as soon as possible - I’d really like to help you, but you need to use an appropriate route for assistance.

What’s so wrong with ’star charts’? What’s the alternative to teaching your child to do as their told - knock it into them? Shout and scream at them?, smack them around?
What exactly is your remedy to keeping a child in it’s bedroom at bedtime and not having it coming down stairs every 5 mins?

REPLY: Taking the McCanns’ secret to his grave when he could help solve what happened to Madeleine. No wonder his conscience appears to be troubling him. He puts the institution of the Roman Catholic Church above his obvious duty to God and man to assist the police in solving a crime. I have little sympathy with his self-imposed ‘plight’
________
REPLY: Tony, kindly lay off the Catholic Church and the Priest. You were a lawyer you know all courts in the world respect the Secrecy of the Seal of Confession. It was further explained why all pictures, etc. were removed from the Church temporarily.
Now, I was too busy today at work to respond when I read your disparaging and sinister remarks about Kate McCanns’ relatives always around here with her husband was gone. Very simply, Tony, and this I am speaking of from personal and hands on experience. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, however one cares to look at it, I lived closest to her and not a state or so away as our parents did. Thus, I watched the babies after work, when their babysitters (note the plural) left promptly at 6. Just infants and what a chore that was. It got the point I roped by best friend into going with me as one night I sat there and cried with them when I couldn’t rock two at one time to settle them down. One cries the other cries, one wanted a bottle with my luck the other was also ready to be given a bottle. You finish changing one baby then the other baby needed changed and screaming with a dirty nappie. On weekends we also went over one day if they needed one of us to help out so they could do their chores or shopping, from a long hours at the hospital. It was a true family affair in raising those twins and they were the first to admit they couldn’t have done it without us. Now with all time needed devoted to taking care of twins I think I would have jumped off a bridge if they had had a toddler running around. Kate McCann already had a toddler running or crawling around and she was not some young woman in her 20’s with endless energy she was already into her mid- 30’s.
Now for your not nice remark about her husband giving speeches and putting his career ahead of his family. I don’t know what kind of law practice you had, Tony, that you could go home at 5 or 6 in time for dinner every night and devote yourself to your family. Not everyone has that supposed cushy job in this world today which you must have had not to understand people do travel with their jobs. It doesn’t mean they put their job before their family it may mean being able to support their family properly or live on poverty row! I know what I speak of personally on that for myself, Tony, but I won’t expound on that on here.
So I suggest before you open your mouth and insert your foot in it you stop and think!

Suicide bombers tend to be motivated by the idea that Islamic cultures have been humiliated and oppressed by the West (which in many ways is true) and that they only way to restore self-esteem is to fight the oppressor and free themselves from domination and control.
God and the afterlife are consolations, like the money their families get and the Hero status they know they’ll have - it’s not really the cause (although it does stop them fully identifying with the West and thereby not being so aware that we’re more powerful).

There are plenty willing to contribute, but the time needs to be right. I believe that the McCanns and their ‘friends’ will be taken to task by the PJ, so we may not need to progress. However, if the T9 look like they are getting away with their awful parenting, I dont think there will be a problem in obtaining support for taking the appropriate legal action.

If the McConns had to use double doses of sedation, there was no need to beat the shite out of the kids anymore, and so they would not get many stars. Maybe the public needs to start training Kate and Gerry with a “moon chart”? They only get a moon on their chart at night if they have not gotten one during the day.

I see you weren’t around much as your kids grew. Coming to you because they are scared or need changing or are thirsty is one thing, coming to you because they woke and are incapable of putting themselves back to sleep (because they were rocked to sleep or whatever) or just for the hell of it is another story. I learnt with my first, I rocked him to sleep and even now at the age of almost 13yrs he still comes down stairs for the hell of it at all hours. The little one has lived with my disability since birth hence less problems with coming downstairs at night or behavioural problems in general. Do not judge people on your own standards Ian, especially when you know nothing about them, you make yourself look the fool you are.

A bleak and empty world?
The world is a wonderful place, but human beings make it a hideous place with their evil ideas justified more often than not by procedures which go under the name of religion.
How do the evil men of the world persuade young men and women to strap explosives to their bodies and detonate them amongst innocents? They uise ideas of afterlife to reduce the value of their only life. Is this any different to your own religion? If people would only value what they have, if they would stop filling the void with invention and accept that this is their life - then life would be valued and much of the worlds evils would disperse.
