Madeleine McCann: 20 Years Of Fury, Kate And Gerry McCann Prime Suspects, Robert Murat Says Nothing
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “YOU’RE STILL PRIME SUSPECTS – McCanns’ fury at police chief warning”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were furious last night after learning they are still prime suspects in daughter Madeleine’s disappearance”
It is now the 105th time Kate and Gerry have reacted with fury of been furious in a tabloid setting
“The couple’s hopes of being cleared today were crushed when police chief Paulo Rebelo asked a judge to extend their arguido status because detectives are sticking to their belief that they accidentally killed the four-year-old”
This was predictable. Robert Murat also remains a suspect
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “They are frustrated and angry. Frustrated because, yet again, there appears to be no movement in the case when they know they are innocent. They will continue to push for their arguido status to be lifted”
The Correio da Manha newspaper “claimed Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, could be charged with perjury and wasting police time”
But don’t the police waste enough of that themselves?
“They have been warned by their legal team they may have to go to the European Court of Human Rights to get their arguido status lifted”
Human rights? What of Madeleine’s rights?
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE - McCANNS ARE MAIN SUSPECTS SAY POLICE”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were dealt a crushing blow last night when a police report accused them of killing their daughter Madeleine”
Says a friend: “They are not the prime suspects. As we understand it, the report talks about the police’s continued belief that Madeleine died accidentally in the apartment and that is why Kate and Gerry remain arguidos. It also talks about Robert Murat remaining an arguido and it discusses the possibility of her being abducted. Well, they can’t have it both ways”
No..?
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Throughout 2007 we have declined to comment on speculation in the Portuguese press. We will follow the same policy in 2008. If this report is true, however, and this interim police report exists, then we believe it contains nothing new. It is simply a restatement of the current position of the police. And we note that it not only discusses Kate and Gerry as arguidos, but also continues to name Mr Murat as an arguido. Crucially it also accepts the possibility that abduction took place”
The green shoots of hope…
THE SUN front page: “McCANN AGONY GOES ON – 246 after Maddie vanished, cops name Kate and Gerry as…PRIME SUSPECTS”
“ANGUISHED Kate and Gerry McCann are facing up to living as suspects over their daughter’s disappearance for another TWENTY years, it emerged yesterday”
Maybe…
Kate and Gerry are “both 39-year-old doctors”
Fact!
DAILY MAIL: “Police ’still think McCanns killed Madeleine by accident’ - and they will be suspects for 20 years”
“A secret police dossier has accused Kate and Gerry McCann of accidentally killing their daughter and hiding her body, it was claimed yesterday. The couple faked four-year-old Madeleine’s abduction, according to a leaked report on the eight-month police investigation”
Lawyer Edward Smethurst, who is co-ordinating the McCanns’ defence, says: “Any report about the leaked document we believe is completely without substance. We think it arises out of pure speculation on the part of the Portuguese papers”
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madeleine’s parents could be under suspicion for 20 years, says judge”
“The prospect of the case dragging on for years was reinforced yesterday by the president of the National Union of Portuguese Judges, Antonio Martins, who said: ‘No-one knows what type of crime was committed. If it was homicide, the investigation can only be shelved after 20 years; if it was kidnap, 15 years’”
On we go…
THE OBSERVER: “After a year in which the torment of Madeleine McCann’s family has dominated the British media, the trials of the Lees - and the hope the new image has given them - seem particularly acute”
The story: “Katrice disappeared on her second birthday from a supermarket in Germany, where her father was serving as a soldier. Her mother turned away for a few moments to fetch a pack of crisps for the girl’s party and when she looked back Katrice was gone”
Twenty six years ago…
FOX NEWS: “Missing Madeleine McCann: Irish Witness ‘Clears’ Murat”
Says Martin Smith, who was on holiday in Praia da Luz: “I told police it was definitely not him because the man wasn’t as big as Murat - I think I would have recognised him because I’d met him several times previously. He was wearing beige trousers and a darker top. We all put him in his early 40s and I didn’t think he was Portuguese”

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I was not referring to one of Hideki’s particular posts and I would have thought that was obvious. I was referring to the general theme of all of Hideki’s posts which I assume led to the ban. How do you know that there wasn’t a nugget of truth in them? If I didn’t catch the exact post which caused the uproar, so what? I don’t sit reading this forum all day and night. I just happened to see that he/she was banned and was musing why, do you have a problem with that?
———————————————————————–
The odd thing is that people announce that they don’t bother to read other posts with the air of expecting others to imediately recognise that they are busy and important people with busy and important things to do.
They don’t seem to realise that it simply confirms the impression that they are conceited twats sounding off for the pleasure of hearing their cyber voices echoing in the void.
If you are going to accuse the Mods and Admin of dark deeds, best get the facts straight.
Admittedly, the facts indicate that there was no dark deed, which rather khybers the claim, so I will rephrase.
If you are going to accuse the Mods and Admins of dark deeds, do so amusingly. Sarcasm will do…

To make them crack.
Oh, dear. I’m stilling feeling mortified from my googling horror.

Maybe the PJs don’t want the items and it’s all speculation.
Maybe the PJs are just bugging them to make crack.
Maybe they want to see if they’ll panic and clean the items, or will lose them or will refuse to hand them over - in which case that’s a hint that they’re guilty.

I’ve been thinking about the impending collection of the Bible, Cuddle Cat, etc. by the PJ.
One of many things that have puzzled me regarding their investigation is, why are the PJ forewarning the McCanns about what they want to cease and when?
Where is the element of surprise? What if these items mysteriously disappear and can never be re-examined?
I don’t understand their process in this regard. Any clues anybody?

hi duncan,
i have advised keesha how to browse the current day’s posts.
we lowly general users could really do with something like the facility avaivlible to you guys in M&A. how about adding a request to your “nice to have” enhancments list for your developers?

Top Right of the Page, sandwiched in between ‘Recent Post’ and ‘Twitterings’ is a Google Search Box. Enter posters name in here, click search button and the page will reload with details of previous posts by that person positioned above the ‘Twitterings’ section. Space limits means only a few posts will be shown but there are ‘button’s providing option to view ‘more’ postings.
I suspect, however, that this is not quite what you are looking for. Admin/Mods have a facility to look back at all posts from a particular person, but am not sure if there is any way for ordinary punters to do this - other than by using the ‘find’ option on your browser to jump to posts from a particular user.
Perhaps someone else can help here?
Anyone know a ’shortcut’ way to filter out comments other than those you want to read from a particular person?

keesha, if you are talking about the current day’s postings, select “show all” next to page 1 at the top of this series of posts or just above the comments area at the bottom of the page.
wait a bit then all the posts for the current day’s posts will appear as if in one large “page”. use the “edit” “find” command in which ever browser you are using and enter the name you want to search on

Including Smilies in comments -
Below is a list of some Smilies currently supported in Opinions. In the examples that follow I have included an * before and after the emoticon text to enable you to ’see’ what must be typed. When you want to use any of these smiles in your posts, however, DO NOT type the *. Instead, type the emoticon text preceded IMMEDIATELY and after by a colon, i.e., no space between the colons and the text.

Hi! I am not very bright at all and rather unintelligent. I only learned to read and write recently.
However, a blind man on a galloping horse with both ears sliced off and his knob-end hanging off howling in pain would pick up more f*cking clues in a millisecond than you have picked up in the past 8 months.
You lower the tone of Anorak and so I am going out to a swingers party to get pissed now. I am leaving my 3 yr old to look after the 18mths old babies but I will leave the patio doors slightly open in case there is a fire.
Don’t go ringing the police because it’s obviously not against the law anymore coz K and G did it last year. To quote G - What are the chances of a stranger-abduction? F*ucking none! They will all be there when I get back but one could have suffocated another or one could have choked to death on some fluff Hey ho!
____________
REPLY: Surprisingly, Coco, some of the abductions by strangers we’ve had over here have been with parents and/or grandparents in the house but asleep! Some abductions by strangers grabbing children on the street usually at a bus stops for school, one out of a fenced in yard playing with friends. My personal friends’ daughter was missing from her house right after getting home from school. She was old enough by the way under the law to be in house alone after school - she has never been found. Then we have had new born babies taken out of hospital nurseries by women pretending to be nurses. One last year was taken right out of her mother’s room/arms by a woman dressed up like a nurse. The children that have died from outright neglect were those that were left home alone by parent going ‘out’ to local grocery store or maybe even local bar and the house or apartment burns down and no one there to save them. So many parents forget children’s fascination with matches or leave candles burning!
Over here a few years ago a policeman wanted to demonstrate to mothers at a playground how easy it is to take their child and to watch their children closely even at a playground. He asked all of them if their child would go with a stranger and each one said no they would not they had taught them not to go with strangers. How he proved his case to them - he went back to his car, took out a puppy, and approached each child and each child went to him.
Am I saying that sweet child was truly abducted? I haven’t sorted that out in my mind yet. Yet it is not impossible it happened that way. The twins I think are too young to have been playing with her roughly and caused a horrible accident to happen and thus a cover-up. Yet, that has crossed my mind. You know how kids jump around on beds bouncing here and there…my two pulled that when young and I ended up at the hospital ER with one with lip split wide open and him getting stitches when he fell off the bed bouncing around and hit the dresser.

Try again but don’t type in the ‘-’ character before and after the other text. For example, if you type
:-mrgreen-:
you get nothing
But if you type mrgreen, preceded and followed by a colon but with NO hypen then you should see your emoticon appear
P.S. Also ‘typo’ in your emoticon text ‘opps’, replace this with ‘oops’, preceded immediately and after by a colon (i.e., no hypen or space between the colons and the text) and you should see -
