Madeleine McCann: 20 Years Of Fury, Kate And Gerry McCann Prime Suspects, Robert Murat Says Nothing
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “YOU’RE STILL PRIME SUSPECTS – McCanns’ fury at police chief warning”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were furious last night after learning they are still prime suspects in daughter Madeleine’s disappearance”
It is now the 105th time Kate and Gerry have reacted with fury of been furious in a tabloid setting
“The couple’s hopes of being cleared today were crushed when police chief Paulo Rebelo asked a judge to extend their arguido status because detectives are sticking to their belief that they accidentally killed the four-year-old”
This was predictable. Robert Murat also remains a suspect
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “They are frustrated and angry. Frustrated because, yet again, there appears to be no movement in the case when they know they are innocent. They will continue to push for their arguido status to be lifted”
The Correio da Manha newspaper “claimed Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, could be charged with perjury and wasting police time”
But don’t the police waste enough of that themselves?
“They have been warned by their legal team they may have to go to the European Court of Human Rights to get their arguido status lifted”
Human rights? What of Madeleine’s rights?
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE - McCANNS ARE MAIN SUSPECTS SAY POLICE”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were dealt a crushing blow last night when a police report accused them of killing their daughter Madeleine”
Says a friend: “They are not the prime suspects. As we understand it, the report talks about the police’s continued belief that Madeleine died accidentally in the apartment and that is why Kate and Gerry remain arguidos. It also talks about Robert Murat remaining an arguido and it discusses the possibility of her being abducted. Well, they can’t have it both ways”
No..?
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Throughout 2007 we have declined to comment on speculation in the Portuguese press. We will follow the same policy in 2008. If this report is true, however, and this interim police report exists, then we believe it contains nothing new. It is simply a restatement of the current position of the police. And we note that it not only discusses Kate and Gerry as arguidos, but also continues to name Mr Murat as an arguido. Crucially it also accepts the possibility that abduction took place”
The green shoots of hope…
THE SUN front page: “McCANN AGONY GOES ON – 246 after Maddie vanished, cops name Kate and Gerry as…PRIME SUSPECTS”
“ANGUISHED Kate and Gerry McCann are facing up to living as suspects over their daughter’s disappearance for another TWENTY years, it emerged yesterday”
Maybe…
Kate and Gerry are “both 39-year-old doctors”
Fact!
DAILY MAIL: “Police ’still think McCanns killed Madeleine by accident’ - and they will be suspects for 20 years”
“A secret police dossier has accused Kate and Gerry McCann of accidentally killing their daughter and hiding her body, it was claimed yesterday. The couple faked four-year-old Madeleine’s abduction, according to a leaked report on the eight-month police investigation”
Lawyer Edward Smethurst, who is co-ordinating the McCanns’ defence, says: “Any report about the leaked document we believe is completely without substance. We think it arises out of pure speculation on the part of the Portuguese papers”
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madeleine’s parents could be under suspicion for 20 years, says judge”
“The prospect of the case dragging on for years was reinforced yesterday by the president of the National Union of Portuguese Judges, Antonio Martins, who said: ‘No-one knows what type of crime was committed. If it was homicide, the investigation can only be shelved after 20 years; if it was kidnap, 15 years’”
On we go…
THE OBSERVER: “After a year in which the torment of Madeleine McCann’s family has dominated the British media, the trials of the Lees - and the hope the new image has given them - seem particularly acute”
The story: “Katrice disappeared on her second birthday from a supermarket in Germany, where her father was serving as a soldier. Her mother turned away for a few moments to fetch a pack of crisps for the girl’s party and when she looked back Katrice was gone”
Twenty six years ago…
FOX NEWS: “Missing Madeleine McCann: Irish Witness ‘Clears’ Murat”
Says Martin Smith, who was on holiday in Praia da Luz: “I told police it was definitely not him because the man wasn’t as big as Murat - I think I would have recognised him because I’d met him several times previously. He was wearing beige trousers and a darker top. We all put him in his early 40s and I didn’t think he was Portuguese”

Matt.
You are so right!
Wheels within wheels and all that!
Appears that all these doctors are all influential in their own right. Spooky! All ‘first-among-equals’. However with ref to Cosa Nostra - waking up with a horse’s head on my pillow would be preferred to waking up with Gerry’s pained ‘Ive got something hot and sharp up my arse’ expression and Kate’s poisoned martyrish ‘I also have something hot and sharp up my arse but I am sucking baby lemons too’ expression! lol

Chloe Spain:
My point entirely! Philomena was digging holes for them to fall into because she was on telly within hours saying that Kate had been sobbing that Madeleine had been taken and the shutters had been jemmied. Clarence then comes in and smooths it all out and they end up saying that they had actually left the door open after all. Took them all weeks to get that out for public consumption and then I choked on it.

“Can’t say No, Hideki left in a huff as we do NOT want peadophilia discussed in depth here, Hideki objected.”
They are lying, Can’t Say No. They deleted my thoughtful response to JuneJohnson, and accused me of “ranting”. How convenient to delete the posts that one is talking about!
Then they blocked my access to this site, so that I cannot post unless I ask another person to use their computer. They have blocked me several times this way. I have many friends in the world, though, so I can post here if I want to. But what is the point, when clearly the Adminstrator is himself pro-McCann?
This Forum is a farce.
They are afraid of the word “paedophilia” but they use it right in their own description of the “Madeleine story” at the top of this Forum. They lied about what was prohibited several weeks ago. I have NEVER violated any rules on this forum.
They are hypocrites, and essentially pro-McCann. The administrator of this Forum, Alan, is an arrogant bully, who makes threatening and abusive remarks, just like the so many British people sticking up for the McCanns.
This Forum is INFESTED with pro-McCann people. And it is no wonder, after reading the smug and repulsive remarks of an administrator NOT WILLING TO ENGAGE ME IN FAIR DEBATE.
He is a coward, and perhaps a moral degenerate like the McCanns. JMO.

“Had heard of a rumor abroad re the press having had up to 14 injunctions rendered against them to prevent publication of “Kiss and Tell” stories about the suspects and company. But that was some time ago…haven’t heard any firm news about it since”.
REPLY: There is one charitable interpretation that could be put on the silence of the press and the absence e.g. of ‘kiss and tell’ stories.
It is possible that the government knows the strength of the case against the McCanns.
It is possible that they recognise that matters are so serious that there will inevitably have to be a trial, either in Portugal (probable) or in the U.K. (possible).
In that case, the Attorney-General may well have issued not a D-notice to the press but an extremely strongly-worded circualr advising that any juicy gossip etc. about the McCanns would be a clear contempt of court and that contempt of court proceedings would be taken against any newspaper revealing anything that could prejudice a fair trial.
Although such a step is normally only taken after someone is formally charged.

Pssst! Don’t tell anybody but I am off out at lunch-time to a swingers party! I know a local guy who can procure some soft drugs and I have told him if he sees me in the street he’s not to let on he knows me coz I’m a doctor and it wouldn’t look good if we knew each other with him peddling weed. He looks spookily like one of my mate’s husbands but for his height.
I’m going to give my kids a mild sedative because they will not go to sleep when the sun’s still shining. I’ve stacked some dirty nappies up in case I need them later and I’m going to leave the sliding door open just a bit in case there’s a fire. My eldest is only 3 but she knows how to get the babies outside if there’s a fire. Must take my bionic eye with me that bounces round corners because I’m not sure if I can see the kids bedroom from the bar we always meet up in.
At least I know I won’t be locked up if one of the kids goes missing.

It amazes me how much store all you pro/anti mcann people put in the tabloid ‘exclusives’ and how many times the Mcanns have ‘expressed ‘fury’ and the PJ have been reported as having said this twaddle or the other and how excited CM makes you. There seems to be a spectrum of high running emotions, some expressing anger at the Mcanns others at the PJ. The one fact that is indisputable is that this beautiful little girl is still missing. There is no evidence of her death anywhere despite endless ad-nauseum DNA tests and stories of bodies in churches and fridges. Therefore would the present concerns be better placed in routing out any potential paedo rings and abductors instead of this media circus. Any attempts in this area have would be welcomed if it saves just one child.
January 4th, 2008 at 10:46 am
37 Matt. “If I were part of the PJ Investigating Team, I would haul Mr Mitchell in for questioning and insist on him revealing just how he ‘knows’ that the parents are so
‘Utterly Innocent’. I would be also be insisting that he tells me exactly where he was during the period of April 28th through to May 3rd especially, and also later. I would want to know if he was present in the McCann’s apartment at any time during that period of time”.
REPLY: Good point. As in:
* Did you know Kate and Gerry McCann before 3 May?
* When did they first contact you?
* Can you explain why the Foreign Office was able to tell the ‘Daily Telegraph’ before 00.01 hrs on 4 May that the McCanns were receiving consular assistance?
* Were you the Foreign Office spokesman quoted in that article?
* If so, where did you get your information that the parents were ‘having dinner’ and that they were ‘regularly checking on their children’?
* Did you know any of the ‘Tapas 9′ before 3 May?
* Did you know Robert Murat before 3 May?
* Please account for your movements on 2 and 3 May

Tony Bennet: Do you know much about Sarah Macaulay - Gordon Brown’s wife? She worked alongside the woman that is doing a lot of press monitoring. The kind of monitoring that Clarrie used to do. I am probably going to disappear up my own ass on this one but I am ultra-suspicious about why the McCanns employed him in the first place. Was he forced upon them because Philomena was digging their graves for them?

REPLY: The N.S.P.C.C. has been asked to comment about the McCann case and has gone on the written record as refusing to do so ‘until the case is concluded’ (!).
N.S.P.C.C., many Social Services and child welfare wbesites and BUPA all say: “Never leave young children on their own, even for a few minutes”.

REPLY: If you are in possession of information (e.g. re the McCanns) given to you in confidence, especially in professional confidence, then, yes, you need to exercise great caution.
One of the fascinations about this case is just how much about the McCanns and their activities and those of ‘Team McCann’ is shrouded in secrecy. Very strange

Good Morning to Tony Bennet ……. Hello and big thanks for all your hard work during this case. I rang the McCanns Social Services and told them that I was proposing to visit a family-friendly resort in Portugal and would possibly be leaving my three children alone for a couple of hours each night.
I asked if I would be afforded all the same governmental and media help if one of them choked or got stung by a wasp or wandered off or was abducted or there was an electrical fault causing the apartment to catch fire. and then I asked if they would put some guide-lines in the post for me to have read-through and I was told ‘No comment’. Has anybody else had a similar reaction from the social services?

HAHAHA!
The McSnakes can be arguidos for 20 more years and they whine about it like spoiled brats.
They don’t seem to grasp how disgusting their deeds are and they expected just to get away with it.
Killing a defenseless child(IMO) proved to be more easy then the getting away part and Kate ‘n Gerry are now shellshocked, furious, and it is ridiculous, ludicrous, and unhelpful!
