Madeleine McCann: 20 Years Of Fury, Kate And Gerry McCann Prime Suspects, Robert Murat Says Nothing
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “YOU’RE STILL PRIME SUSPECTS – McCanns’ fury at police chief warning”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were furious last night after learning they are still prime suspects in daughter Madeleine’s disappearance”
It is now the 105th time Kate and Gerry have reacted with fury of been furious in a tabloid setting
“The couple’s hopes of being cleared today were crushed when police chief Paulo Rebelo asked a judge to extend their arguido status because detectives are sticking to their belief that they accidentally killed the four-year-old”
This was predictable. Robert Murat also remains a suspect
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “They are frustrated and angry. Frustrated because, yet again, there appears to be no movement in the case when they know they are innocent. They will continue to push for their arguido status to be lifted”
The Correio da Manha newspaper “claimed Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, could be charged with perjury and wasting police time”
But don’t the police waste enough of that themselves?
“They have been warned by their legal team they may have to go to the European Court of Human Rights to get their arguido status lifted”
Human rights? What of Madeleine’s rights?
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE - McCANNS ARE MAIN SUSPECTS SAY POLICE”
“Kate and Gerry McCann were dealt a crushing blow last night when a police report accused them of killing their daughter Madeleine”
Says a friend: “They are not the prime suspects. As we understand it, the report talks about the police’s continued belief that Madeleine died accidentally in the apartment and that is why Kate and Gerry remain arguidos. It also talks about Robert Murat remaining an arguido and it discusses the possibility of her being abducted. Well, they can’t have it both ways”
No..?
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Throughout 2007 we have declined to comment on speculation in the Portuguese press. We will follow the same policy in 2008. If this report is true, however, and this interim police report exists, then we believe it contains nothing new. It is simply a restatement of the current position of the police. And we note that it not only discusses Kate and Gerry as arguidos, but also continues to name Mr Murat as an arguido. Crucially it also accepts the possibility that abduction took place”
The green shoots of hope…
THE SUN front page: “McCANN AGONY GOES ON – 246 after Maddie vanished, cops name Kate and Gerry as…PRIME SUSPECTS”
“ANGUISHED Kate and Gerry McCann are facing up to living as suspects over their daughter’s disappearance for another TWENTY years, it emerged yesterday”
Maybe…
Kate and Gerry are “both 39-year-old doctors”
Fact!
DAILY MAIL: “Police ’still think McCanns killed Madeleine by accident’ - and they will be suspects for 20 years”
“A secret police dossier has accused Kate and Gerry McCann of accidentally killing their daughter and hiding her body, it was claimed yesterday. The couple faked four-year-old Madeleine’s abduction, according to a leaked report on the eight-month police investigation”
Lawyer Edward Smethurst, who is co-ordinating the McCanns’ defence, says: “Any report about the leaked document we believe is completely without substance. We think it arises out of pure speculation on the part of the Portuguese papers”
Kate and Gerry McCann are “doctors”
THE SCOTSMAN: “Madeleine’s parents could be under suspicion for 20 years, says judge”
“The prospect of the case dragging on for years was reinforced yesterday by the president of the National Union of Portuguese Judges, Antonio Martins, who said: ‘No-one knows what type of crime was committed. If it was homicide, the investigation can only be shelved after 20 years; if it was kidnap, 15 years’”
On we go…
THE OBSERVER: “After a year in which the torment of Madeleine McCann’s family has dominated the British media, the trials of the Lees - and the hope the new image has given them - seem particularly acute”
The story: “Katrice disappeared on her second birthday from a supermarket in Germany, where her father was serving as a soldier. Her mother turned away for a few moments to fetch a pack of crisps for the girl’s party and when she looked back Katrice was gone”
Twenty six years ago…
FOX NEWS: “Missing Madeleine McCann: Irish Witness ‘Clears’ Murat”
Says Martin Smith, who was on holiday in Praia da Luz: “I told police it was definitely not him because the man wasn’t as big as Murat - I think I would have recognised him because I’d met him several times previously. He was wearing beige trousers and a darker top. We all put him in his early 40s and I didn’t think he was Portuguese”

201 The consul would appear to still be ‘out to lunch’ lol whereas KM looks to be permanently ‘out’. No lights on - no panic - no problem. As she said on telly, ‘Show us the body!’ Cocky mare. How can we show her the body when we can’t find out where it is on account of her and all her buddies not being able to even tell the time.
I am really concerned about having surgery in future now that I know all these doctors can’t even tell the f*cking time! What if I was under anaesthetic? And one of them f*ckers came at me with a knife. Oh my God!

208 Karen
I’ll have to depart from you on that one Karen!
I guess it could depend on your definition of ‘bad’ but using their own extremes (the way they love their children more than ‘ordinary folk’ could even conceive of, their use of colourful almost ‘victorian’ language, ‘adoration’, ‘festive season’, ‘adorned’, ‘ludicrous’, over use of ‘incredible’ etc) I’d have to class them as ‘bad’ people, certainly I’d not hesitate to call them ‘very bad’ parents regardless of anything else (even if a super abductor swept in and swept Maddie away).

————————————————————————————————————————-

Nao significa que a policia não saiba o que aconteceu.
O facto de não haver 1 acusação ,não significa que não tenha havido crime

Mods and Admin: You are funny! lol These two would want to die looking young and pretty though. She would probably bronze him all over and dress him up in a leather skirt like a Roman gladiator and he would probably cover her in rose petals flown in from Amsterdam.
They would lie down on silk sheets and then they would syringe insulin into each other so that it would be painless and easy and would not mess their hair up. lol Only a suggestion! I don’t want them pinching this idea off me like they do with Clarrie lol - I just hope that they sort the kids out first and I don’t mean in a Goebbels kind of way lol! More a Mid-Summer Night’s Nightmare and hope that All’s Well That Ends Well kind of lol

Edit…… Therefore would the present concerns be better placed in routing out any potential paedo rings and abductors instead of this media circus. Any attempts in this area have would be welcomed if it saves just one child.
+++++++++++
Your assertions re “evidence” are incorrect, but then I suspect you already know that.
As for your other familiar refrain…”Let’s look anywhere, anywhere that is but at the people who last saw Madeleine alive. The people primarily responsible for Madeleine’s care and well being…” It’s a worn out technique/record/diversionary tactic that few people are buying these days.
Yes, we should be vigilant and route out those less desirables who do indeed prey upon defenceless children but in the case of Madeleine I am of the opinion that the answer to the mystery can be found much closer to home.

Cheryl (yesterday’s thread) explained why it was right for the McCanns to put their twins in a creche all day in Praia da Luz the day after Madeleine disappeared - and on many other days in the next few weeks whilst they embarked on their campaigning - as follows:
QUOTE FROM CHERYL
I’ve stated that earlier today on here my thoughts of wee ones not being around stressful, emotional and upsetting situations. Any mother wants to protect her child from that. Children feel it, sense it and react to it negatively. Best they be kept out of it and preoccupied with playing with others in a calm environment. I believe every mother knows that if a young new mother is nervous around her new baby or young one her child reacts accordingly. You get a screaming baby in your arms and you get upset and nervous and tense the baby screams all the longer. Hand your baby to a calm person to hold the baby calms down. The same applies as they grow even at 1, 2 or on up. The parent seems sad the child changes in their own mood and if older asks questions and becomes puzzled and concerned. Children react to emotions around them as do adults. However, adults can usually understand whatever the emotion may be about but children don’t always. Yes, in one’s grief you want to hug your child and hold them very close and not let them out of yours arms. Is it fair to your child to cling tightly to them when they are too young to understand why and they become agitated and start acting out sensing the change in Mommy and/or Daddy?
UNQUOTE
COMMENT: I wonder if Cheryl’s advice could become part of the ‘Gerry McCann Guide to Responsible Parenting”?
You know, along with: “We have been advised that what we did [boozing six nights in a row leaving three kids under 4 in a dark, foreign apartment] was well within the bounds of repsonsible parenting”.
Perhaps in a question-and-answer form, something like this:
Q: What advice would you give if your child has been abducted or kidnapped?
A: Well, you will of course be very upset. It’s really important that your children don’t see you upset. Spend as much time away from them as you possibly can whilst you remain so upset. Especially if they are only two years old

163 Mods and Admin: Not yet! lol
168 Sledgehammer Facts are something that have been thin on the ground during this pantomime and you don’t have to be an Ears Nose and Throat specialist to smell the bull-sh*t and choke on the sickly pair. Listen to the McCanns live performances and work some things out from their body-language which is how human being quantify emotions in other human-beings.
171 MrsT Thanks! And I bet you never saw any of them invited to the Consulate for a bite-to-eat either. Surely the Consul should have remained impartial given that Portugal has one of the most efficient legal systems in the World not to mention the most rigorous and oldest!
Instead of dragging the kids into the public eye to be gawped at by taking them to watch a pantomime - why not just replay Philomena and co on You-tube and Sky? Fiona on the breakfast show is really funny! I would scream my head off if Aunty Phil was ‘behind’ me lol
