Madeleine McCann: Her Blood, Official Tabloid News And Michaela Walczuch Denies
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: IT WAS HER BLOOD IN PARENTS’ HIRE CAR”
“New results sent to Portugal in the last few days show the blood samples could only belong to Madeleine, it was claimed” – claimed…
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reports: “The definitive result of the tests leave no doubts for the Policia Judiciaria. The blood found in the McCanns’ car is that of Madeleine as well as those samples detected in the flat”
No doubt? So says a newspaper report that provides the basis to THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER’S lead story
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “These reports are very distressing for Kate and Gerry, they are depressed that again wild rumour and speculation is being presented as fact. We wish Portuguese police would just get on with their investigation, come over to England and carry out the interviews with Kate and Gerry and their friends. All those interviews will prove, yet again, that Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide.
“As for the supposed DNA testing, we cannot comment on yet more unsubstantiated rampant speculation in the Portuguese press. It is ridiculous to suggest that Madeleine’s blood was in the hire car because she was never in it. It was hired more than 20 days after she went missing, which means it was impossible for her to have ever been in it”
A friend of the McCanns says: “They were in no way involved in her disappearance, reports like this just add to their anguish. We would also point out that low copy DNA is under review by police forces in this country following the outcome of the Omagh bombing trial”
But it is a sign of police progress, right?
THE SUN front page: “Maddie blood ‘in hire car’”
“The tormented parents of Madeleine McCann reacted in fury last night to new claims that DNA evidence backs the theory they killed her”
KATE AGONY OVER ‘WILD’ DNA CLAIM – Blood specks behind sofa and in car ‘are Maddie’s”. The scent of death?
A ‘wild’ claim repeated in the Sun…
“Now it is being claimed new and ‘definitive’ results from Britain support the police theory that Maddie was killed in the apartment and her body moved in a car hired 25 days AFTER she vanished” – Claimed by Portuguese newspaper Correio Da Manha, from where the Sun gets its news
The Forensic Laboratory in Birmingham says: “Tests are still being carried out. No final report has been submitted to the Portuguese authorities”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Blood in car is hers OFFICIAL”
“BLOOD IN CAR IS MADDIE’S OFFICIAL – ‘No doubts’ after test on Renault”
“The findings appear to support the police theory that Madeleine was accidentally killed in the apartment and her parents disposed of her body to mask their negligence”
Only…
“But they come from low-copy DNA analysis – a controversial technique based on just a few human cells which was recently branded unreliable by UK police. Last month, Omagh bomb suspect Sean Hoey walked free after a judge decided this type of testing was not at a sufficiently scientific level to be considered evidence. The Association of Chief Police Officers then announced it was suspending use of the technique in criminal inquiries. And the Crown Prosecution Service in England and Wales is reviewing a number of cases in which it was involved. That means the results in Madeleine’s case could probably never be used in court”
DAILY MAIL: “Did Maddie witnesses mistake this friend of the McCanns for Murat”
As Anorak reprotered yesterday, David Payne, one of the so-called Tapas 7,9 etc., looks not a lot unlike Robert Murat
Mr Murat’s lawyer Francisco Pagarete says: “Robert has always said the witnesses were mistaken. He was not there that night”
“MR MURAT’S girlfriend Michaela Walczuch was yesterday forced to deny claims she had been named as a police suspect in the case. The Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas claimed the mother-of-one, 34, had been made an ‘arguido’, or formal suspect, alongside Mr Murat and the McCanns. Lawyer Mr Pagarete insisted he had been misquoted by the tabloid when discussing her. Police refused to confirm or deny the report”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Murat’s girlfriend ‘is Madeleine McCann suspect’”
“The Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas reported that Michaela Walczuch, 32, was made an arguida after a witness claimed to have seen her with a small girl two days after four-year-old Madeleine went missing last May”
He is an arguido. She is an aguida
“A spokesman for the Portuguese police said yesterday that she had ‘no information’ about Miss Walczuch being made an official suspect”
Or not…
“ARE spin doctors taking over the world? - The rise and rise of the profession is not confined to politics: even the McCann family, campaigning to find their daughter Madeleine, sought the help of a former BBC journalist, Clarence Mitchell, to manage their publicity”
DAILY MIRROR: “ NEW LEAD ON MADDY”
British tourist Gail Cooper says she saw a “mystery man hanging around Madeleine McCann’s holiday flat just days before she vanished”. Like Paul Gordon did
Ms Cooper say: “He was horrible looking man , really creepy, unkempt and dirty. He definitely wasn’t Portuguese. He scared me”
Is there more than one creepy man in Praia da Luz? Another oddball?
Says Cooper: “I’m sure this man had something to do with Madeleine’s disappearance”
THE SCOTSMAN: “New claims on blood in McCann’s hire car
“Blood traces found in the hire car used by Kate and Gerry McCann were from their missing daughter Madeleine, according to a Portuguese newspaper”
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Please don’t make this into another Maddy’”
Amy Fitzpatrick is missing. She is Irish. Her mother lives in Spain. Amy is 15. she went missing as she walked home on New Year’s Day from a friend’s house where she was babysitting in Calahonda near Mijas in southern Spain
“Outside Amy’s home, a gated development called Riviera Del Sol, just outside Fuengirola, children played in the shrubland, oblivious to the fact a teenager had vanished nearby without a trace. Some poked through shrubbery, others rode their bikes. It was a very different scene to that when Madeleine McCann disappeared last summer in Portugal, when locals and ex-pats joined the search to try and find the missing girl. But the family does not want a repeat of the publicity which has surrounded her case. ‘Please don’t turn this into a circus,’ a family spokesman said last night. ‘Don’t make it another Maddy. Let the police do their job’”
There is only one Madeleine McCann – Her story so far

And why did they have no doubt she had been abducted? Its never been explained just why they were so sure.
Was it, perhaps, because abduction was the most unlikely option, the most unlikely risk? Being so unlikely they couldnt easily be accused of taking the risk?
Perhaps they were aware of the necessary conditions which would need to be met to charge them under Childrens Act 1933 and they used this as a baseline? Perhaps - as a GP - Kate was fully aware of the Act and the necessary conditions because all GP’’s were briefed in early 2007 as part of a tightening up on GP awareness? Could that be why they knew so certainly?

You know, I feel that the McCanns from the outset trusted the PJ wholeheartedly (again their naive and trusting nature raising its miserble head). The PJ were (as far as the McCanns were concerned) conducting thorough searches in all areas. For McCanns, they had no doubt whatsoever that she had been abducted. Looking in bins for them at that time was not going to bring Madeleine back. They needed to get as much publicity as possible about their missing daughter in the hope that someone might recognise her. Pointless it may seem to some (with the benefit of hindsight) but you nor I were in their shoes. Its too easy to judge.
———————————————————
Garth, you know perectly well that it simply isn’t true.
From the very beginning the McCanns claimed that searches weren’t being carried out; that was a lie, one of many lies which followed.
But if the McCanns really believed what they told the BBC and all the other media organisations about people not searching it was all the more imperative that they get out there and search themselves.
There is no conceivable reason for them not to do so if they genuinely believed that Madeleine wasn’t being searched for…

Sorry , Garth, no matter how naive and trusting you are, common sense would almost certainly prevail and alert you to the fact that 3 babies should not be left alone, in the dark, in an unlocked apartment, in a foreign country.

This is the most frustrating thing, the press and tv coverage. I have never witnessed such biased reporting. Im hanging on to the hope that they have been silenced in order to stop them from protesting that they have had trial by media. fingers and everything that hangs crossed!

Garth
many families have had children go missing, some even sell their homes to fund their search themselves. These people have received over a £m from a kind and caring public, and 8 months on,and 4 months back in the UK despite desperate searches in N Europe , the US, the Vatican and Rothley they still haven’t found her.
And lets be honest when they were in Portugal where did they actually look? people desperate to find a child would sleep in tents, use the cheapest form of transport use everything they own to find her
Sorry Garth, they lost her, not us

Allison Pearson! If she’s defending them, it’s hardly going to set even Mail readers on fire.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Clarrie must be desperate; Alison Pearson in the Mail is dutifully spinning away urging the McCanns not to make the movie which Clarrie has already pointed out could not be made whilst they remain arguidos.
It looks as if Clarrie is pulling out all the stops to divert attention away from the Fund resignations…

Portugal’s public prosecutor Jose Magalhaes e Menezes is proceeding with legal moves to ask British police to interview Gerry and Kate McCann and the rest of the so-called Tapas Nine over their movements on the night of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
The news has triggered fears detectives are ready to charge Mr and Mrs McCann.
Portuguese police want to speak to the seven friends who dined with the McCanns at the tapas restaurant in the Ocean Club holiday complex in Praia da Luz on the evening of May 3 last year.
Letters from the prosecutor sent to British police have been delayed for several months because of the lengthy bureaucratic process involved.

Madeleine witnesses ‘may have mistaken this friend of the McCanns for Murat’ on night she disappeared
The McCanns have welcomed the new interviews in the hope they can clear their names as suspects in their four-year-old daughter’s disappearance.
The couple, both 39, were named as arguidos - formal suspects - on September 7.
Detectives hope the interrogations could provide a vital breakthrough in the case.
They want to quiz the so-called Tapas Nine to clear up alleged “inconsistencies” in their stories about what happened in the Mark Warner resort on the night Madeleine went missing.
Police believe the toddler, who was three when she disappeared, died in an accident and the McCanns then covered up her death.
Blood samples found in a car the couple hired 25 days after their daughter disappeared are said to come Madeleine.

Kate and Gerry McCann: Welcome re-interviews in the hope to clear their names
A team of Policia Judicial investigators, lead by Paulo Rebelo, drafted the questions which were then revised and translated by the public prosecutor’s office.
They were approved by judge Pedro Frias, who is overseeing the investigation.
The legal letters were sent on Monday afternoon by Mr Magalhaes e Menezes, the public prosecutor in Portimao, near Praia da Luz, through the EU body Eurojust.
British authorities will receive them by the end of the week and will then make preparations to interview the so-called Tapas Nine.
Portuguese detectives will fly to the UK to sit in on the interviews, which will be carried out by officers from Leicestershire police.
Shortly afterwards public prosecutors said they did not have enough evidence to justify fresh interrogations.
But detectives now reportedly believe they have enough evidence to prosecute the couple.
The McCanns insist they had nothing to do with Madeleine’s disappearance and believe she was abducted.
Two of the couple’s holiday friends have reportedly contacted police through lawyers saying they wish to change their stories.
They have been named as Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner.
Ms Tanner, 37, from Exeter, says she saw a mystery man carrying a child away from the flat at 9.15pm on the night Madeleine vanished.
Staff at the Tapas restaurant reportedly claim Ms Tanner did not leave the restaurant until after Kate McCann raised the alarm at 10pm.
Dr O’Brien and Ms Tanner deny wanting to change their stories.

Stevo, Remigius and others,
Have you noticed how free the forum is of trolls today! They were so scared they their ugly spin will be exposed, when one person writes for several pro-s to create the impression of debate when there is nothing but abuse from them. They knew full well, that calling someone a nazi is libel, and they can be sued for that, “they” being actually one poster working for the “team”.
IPs really do not mean anything, except that the multiposting and lies can be exposed, and the offender sued if they made defamatory comments. They are scared to death, and they leave us in peace. They start crying about “threats”, and “details of posters”, forgetting that there was only one offender involved, whom Dr. knows nearly personally, i.e. independently of anorak.
Pathetic. It would be really wise if anyone who makes libellous remarks and insults genuine posters is banned, not the one who tells people WHO made those remarks.
Anorak is always very sensible, anyway.
