Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “These reports are very distressing for Kate and Gerry, they are depressed that again wild rumour and speculation is being presented as fact. We wish Portuguese police would just get on with their investigation, come over to England and carry out the interviews with Kate and Gerry and their friends. All those interviews will prove, yet again, that Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide.
“As for the supposed DNA testing, we cannot comment on yet more unsubstantiated rampant speculation in the Portuguese press. It is ridiculous to suggest that Madeleine’s blood was in the hire car because she was never in it. It was hired more than 20 days after she went missing, which means it was impossible for her to have ever been in it”
A friend of the McCanns says: “They were in no way involved in her disappearance, reports like this just add to their anguish. We would also point out that low copy DNA is under review by police forces in this country following the outcome of the Omagh bombing trial”

Did people really believe them totally innocent, or were they just putting on a show of loyalty? Personally, I think most in the family believed the McCanns were guilty but they figured “What’s in it for me if I say so? Nothing. What happens if they are not convicted and I had not supported them? Banishment from the family, and no royalties from book sales and box office booms.” Also in the back of their minds, some of them are thinking that they might some day stage their own abduction, in case they decide to weed out one or two of their own brats. They know they could say it was a “copycat” abduction, or that it is a “serial abductor” obsessed with the McCann family. And they will know they can count on the support and sympathy of the whole McCann clan during their time of tribulation.
Actually, a lot of these McCann haters are just jealous, because in similar circumstances their own family would immediately spill the beans, rat on them, and steal all of their property, even if they were completely innocent. The McCann family is not like that. It has an aristocratic quality of ethical refinement, and cherishing of traditional values such as loyalty and money.

You’re “defence” of the McCann’s is based not on any proof of “their” innocence but on the “possibility” that there may have been some wrongdoing in another unrelated case. The allegation to which you imply are as yet unproven. Even if they are ever proven it doesn’t automatically follow that their has/is any similar wrongdoing on the part of the PJ in the Madeleine case.

411 chenier - gerry works for UHL trust Kate works for an agency providing locum GP’s in leicestershire /rutland - being pedantic i know but only G is their problem..
Can you remember how much his research grant is for? We should find out who’s funding it, UHL have ‘lost’ lots of money on their proposed redevelopement scheme this year - hence a new CEO (old one retired - hum - unfortunatley imo) research grants are valuable currency in ensuring ones employment status.
I’ll try to look up details - coz some of G’s relatives works for pharmacutical companies don’t they? might be an interesting sideline ..

All the hosting companies I use give comprehensive stats about visitors etc. It’s inbuilt and if you were as clever as you make out you are, you’d know that. You’d also know that an IP address is about as useful as a random telephone number. But no - keep perpetuating the myths and rumours and show yourself up each time.

what i’m talking about, as you are well aware, is people setting up sites, using windows help centre or whatever your choice of theft tool is, to obtain email addresses on the sly, and then
people changing names and threatening people on here who don’t know enough to not let it bother them.

Yes, Meeji, many here have written to their MP’s on Madeleine’s behalf.
The fact that no action may have been taken by those MP’s, reflects badly
on them, not on us.

I don’t wholly agree Matt.. Your/our MP’s are just giving you/us the “establishment line that they can’t comment on an ongoing criminal investigation etc, etc…” Not exactly helpful I agree, however at least by writing to our MP’s they should be left in no doubt that “when” they can comment they are in no doubt that there is a significant body of public opinion that are at best “suspicious” of the McCann’s activities, in my opinion.
If there is anything like the alleged high level collusion/involvement that has been speculated in this case then you would that if/when the balloon finally goes up that the opposition MP’s would be only too happy to wade into the government? Oh look, pigs above Big Ben!
