Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reports: “The definitive result of the tests leave no doubts for the Policia Judiciaria. The blood found in the McCanns’ car is that of Madeleine as well as those samples detected in the flat”
No doubt? So says a newspaper report that provides the basis to THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER’S lead story
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “These reports are very distressing for Kate and Gerry, they are depressed that again wild rumour and speculation is being presented as fact. We wish Portuguese police would just get on with their investigation, come over to England and carry out the interviews with Kate and Gerry and their friends. All those interviews will prove, yet again, that Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide.
“As for the supposed DNA testing, we cannot comment on yet more unsubstantiated rampant speculation in the Portuguese press. It is ridiculous to suggest that Madeleine’s blood was in the hire car because she was never in it. It was hired more than 20 days after she went missing, which means it was impossible for her to have ever been in it”
A friend of the McCanns says: “They were in no way involved in her disappearance, reports like this just add to their anguish. We would also point out that low copy DNA is under review by police forces in this country following the outcome of the Omagh bombing trial”
But it is a sign of police progress, right?

I think they need to start pressuring O’Brian into telling where the remains are.
He’s the one who they say is changing his story to concur that he saw the bundleman. Jane just thought she saw it because she is his soul mate. But actually, you see, she never left the Tapas bar at all–Gerry and Wilkins having thrown off the timing for the evening.
O’Brian has always placed himself at the scene of the crime and said he didn’t see anything except the sleeping twins. Isn’t that right? Or did he say he only listened at the door? Or was this Payne and not O’Brain.
Maybe they need to get Inspector Amaral to question O’Brian AND Payne and see if they’ll start remember some additional details for May 3.

This has nothing at all to do with ‘Pragmatism’. This behaviour and practice derives from a patriarchal culture that sees women as possessions and/or livestock; some four footed forms are more highly regarded and are better treated.
It is not cultural imperialism to condemn such revolting practices, just an accurate and valid recognition that women are treated inhumanely in some cultures and that some aspects of those cultures are fundamentally indefensible.
To draw a comparison with Joseph and Mary is entirely appropriate, as it reinforces the perception that such practices are culturally out-of-date and are are entirely anachronistic in more modern times.

He’s used up all the other ones; nobody is going to believe another Madeleine sighting and he can’t even slag off Michaela because she’s cleared and in a mood to sue.
The Mail has even pulled the story claiming that Michaela is an arguida.
So what is left?

It does in a ghostly way–look like Madeleine gazing from the back seat of a car. She seems to be looking right at them. LOL! But most likely it is someone else with a short blond bob. I think the lens makes the figure look somewhat opaque.
One of those creepy anomalous moments.

There was a photo of the McCanns near the car and there appeared to be a small child looking out of the back. However, a closer examination revealed that it was a poster with a photo of Madeleine stuck on the back windscreen. I imagine this is what you’re referring to.

Gerry’s sending out a big message when he announces he is selling his story. He is saying in effect: quick send cash!
Strangely, after scouring the internet for about an hour I couldn’t find the “confession” post by Gerry. I remember reading it, but could not find it. In it, Gerry talks about understanding how this kind of thing could have happened and about regret.
WhereClarence stands: he has to be negotiating his exit strategy. He can’t continue through a legal snarl to work for the McCann’s … or will he hang along for the long haul? Or sell his story for $1M and retire.
Will Portugal depend on the UK to mete out justice? Surely we will hear from the Portugese prosecutor this week.
