Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reports: “The definitive result of the tests leave no doubts for the Policia Judiciaria. The blood found in the McCanns’ car is that of Madeleine as well as those samples detected in the flat”
No doubt? So says a newspaper report that provides the basis to THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER’S lead story
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “These reports are very distressing for Kate and Gerry, they are depressed that again wild rumour and speculation is being presented as fact. We wish Portuguese police would just get on with their investigation, come over to England and carry out the interviews with Kate and Gerry and their friends. All those interviews will prove, yet again, that Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide.
“As for the supposed DNA testing, we cannot comment on yet more unsubstantiated rampant speculation in the Portuguese press. It is ridiculous to suggest that Madeleine’s blood was in the hire car because she was never in it. It was hired more than 20 days after she went missing, which means it was impossible for her to have ever been in it”
A friend of the McCanns says: “They were in no way involved in her disappearance, reports like this just add to their anguish. We would also point out that low copy DNA is under review by police forces in this country following the outcome of the Omagh bombing trial”
But it is a sign of police progress, right?

“But they come from low-copy DNA analysis – a controversial technique based on just a few human cells which was recently branded unreliable by UK police. Last month, Omagh bomb suspect Sean Hoey walked free after a judge decided this type of testing was not at a sufficiently scientific level to be considered evidence. The Association of Chief Police Officers then announced it was suspending use of the technique in criminal inquiries. And the Crown Prosecution Service in England and Wales is reviewing a number of cases in which it was involved. That means the results in Madeleine’s case could probably never be used in court”

Maybe Stig is GM I haven’t got a clue. However I thought he said he was from Ireland not Scotland. Not that it matters where he said he came from, just that several posters have refered to him coming from Scotland as if it were significant. I remember Ireland & racing motor bikes?

The Gerry confession is day 117 on gerrymccann’sblog - formerly pamalan.
My computer is very slow at mo so too much hassle to negotiate the back and forward link thing.
I think it’s interesting because he first mentions the results of dna tests coming through then goes on to talk about how we’re all capable of etc….
I think hes talking to other tapas and geeing them up to deal with what must feel like a mad surreal situation. As well as being sympathetic with himself/Kate?, also how it could have come to happen, and the situation they’ve found themselves in re accident, cover up, the media blast and continuing circus. This blog is close to another that talks about how it was friends/family rather than he and Kate which initiated and fueled the media coverage. Bit of whining basically

Well well well,………………MADELEINE McCann died after tumbling down steps outside her family’s holiday apartment, a team of British police claim.
They think she stumbled and cracked her head on the floor after waking up and looking for her missing parents.
That is the shock judgement of Brit officers brought in to search the family’s apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, with sniffer dogs specially-trained to detect blood and death.
Last night it was alleged that it was UK detectives – and not their Portuguese counterparts – who first raised suspicions about the possible involvement of Madeleine’s parents.
And after their report last week, Portuguese detectives are said to be “100% certain’’ the four-year-old died at her family’s Algarve flat on May 3.
They had thought Madeleine and her two-year-old twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, were given sedatives to help them sleep while parents Kate and Gerry, both 39, dined out with pals at a tapas bar 40 yards away.
But, according to Brit police information leaked to a Portuguese paper, Madeleine woke up and went to look for her parents.
There are “strong suspicions’’ the dazed youngster stumbled down 10 steps outside the door.
The paper claims: “The death was due to traumatic shock to the back of the head against ceramic tiles on the stairs.

This is pre-emptive defence, against charges yet to be brought. Pre-emptive defence takes the form of subtle and subversive denigration of evidence not yet presented, in an investigation not yet completed, of a crime, in this case, not yet fully determined. It is a precursor to weakness in a defence case, and an indicator of guilt in the suspected parties. The spokesperson cannot know, and is simply guessing, whether low copy number DNA is involved, or how much, if at all, the Policia Judiciaria case against the suspects will rest on LCN DNA.

I tend to agree with the posters who think its comparatively too well written to be Gerry, I have been staggered by the poor quality of Gerry’s writing on his ‘blog’ but then maybe the blog wasnt being written by him? I guess a consultant has someone to do his writing for him (someone very close to me used to be a PA/Medical Secretary!).
You are right about the ’scariness’ - certainly the poster ‘Stig’ had an agenda, as do a specific category of pro-mccann posters here!
