I am happy that Labor has finally formed government and brought about the end of a dark 11 years for my country but Peter Garrett needs to go. To name but a few issues, he has stood silent while the new Labor government has committed to opening more coal mines, logging more old growth forests (more than even the previous government committed to), mining more uranium, supporting the creation of world's biggest paper pulp mill and the dredging of Port Phillip Bay. I once defended him from the attacks of my friends when he first entered Parliament in the Labor opposition but having the choice I'd prefer to have seen John Howard reelected than Peter Garrett.
