Page 5: The Find Madeleine fund is down to its last £400,000. More money is needed. So why the “outrage”?
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We need money to search for Madeleine and that is the most important thing. Nothing has been decided yet. And how many films ever make a profit? It would be a film, perhaps, like that about 15-year-old Amy Smart, abducted in the US and found eight months later. “Several movies were made about her while she was missing including The Amy Smart Story”
The “WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER” does not say if the Amy Smart story made any money. But it does trawl the web and see blog comments like:
“Angry” Pamela Blears, from Oldham, posts: “From the day little Madeleine disappeared I have felt sympathy and compassion for the McCanns but this beggers belief. How can they think about making a film out of the tragedy when the poor child hasn’t even been found yet? How low can you get?”
The Daily Express costs “ONLY 40p”
“McCANNS FEAR CHARGES SOON” – “A source close to the family” tells us: “Kate and Gerry insist they are innocent but they fear they will be charged. Naturally Kate and Gerry are concerned that if this line of inquiry continues to its natural conclusion, charges are always a possibility and they know that’s entirely wrong”
He added: “The Portuguese police seem to be blinkered in their approach and it feels like they want to find the McCanns guilty regardless.”

Skint? The Find Madeleine Fund is dwindling, down to its last “£200,000”. But Gerry McCann is going back to work. He is, as the tabloids never tire to telling us, “a heart consultant”. She is a “GP”

But we watching the parents. So why not make profit, if it will help?

The idea of a film is supposed to be that any money would go into the fund to find her. But remember the funds trustees are family members who allowed K and G £4000 for mortgage payments and more I’m sure. That was probably why a lot of people stopped contributing. People saw these parents in a £500,000 house , probably with expensive cars, fabulously paying jobs , using fund money for their mortgage. Money contributed by people who just wanted to help find a missing child not support her parents lifestyle, which was much better then theirs!!.. It was their fault she went missing in the beginning, but they dont seem willing to dig into their own pockets to find her. if it was my child I’d sell everything, my house, cars and work all the hours I could to pay for help looking for her. But the McCanns? Gerry’s only working part time , but hes visiting the pub and playing tennis ( all costs money) And Kate’s not working to stay with the twins. which seems odd since she didnt want to spend time with them on holiday. As far as i can see they spent more time in the kids club then with their parents. Maybe if people see the McCann family -all of them grandparents, parents and all the uncles and sisters who flapped their mouths so much in the beginning , doing a bit of giving, contributions might start up again

firestar seems to be making enemies as per usual.
I suggest firestar goes to singing lessons and sharpens up his voice before doing anymore Pink Floyd covers. The mysterious thing about his recording is that you can’t hear any lead guitar and the backing track is available anywhere. I’m sure with a few beers inside you, it goes down well at karaoke nights in Derbyshire.

Hi all ! Evening Abraham - nice to see you on here again
Like others I watched Richard and Judy this evebing - didn’t realise they were going to open with the McConns - it was pure coincidence that the tele was on. The tiler had just left (new kitchen floor) and I was making coffee and convincing the dog that he couldn’t go out. - it was persistently precipitating at the time. - The weather - not the dog.
Anyway Comical Clarrie was on. But on the phone. “Stuck in traffic” Max Clifford was in the studio with Richard and Judy and (I think) Sue Carroll. What I found interesting was not only the denial about the film but the body language of Max Clifford. IMO he looked decidedly uncomfortable throughout Clarences conversation - which went on and on and on. And Judy kept trying to interrupt him.
It was also interesting that he was on his way back from Rothley to do this interview. Now - if I were the McConns and I really really wanted to make sure everyone knew I was not going to do a film about my daughter I would have bloody well made sure that my spin doctor - sorry PR man - was in a televsion studio in plenty of time to make that interview. Not stuck in traffic somewhere. Methinks there is - yet again - more to this than meets the eye. More smoke and mirrors.
The other half got quite shirty when I mentioned the cast list bit that came out yesterday and asked if I got that from the papers. He shut up when I said Comical Clarrie had said it himself.
He didn’t like it very much when I pointed out that if a girl and her husband / partner from a council estate had acted and done as the McConns then the whole fury of the media and public would have been thrown at her. And that any other children would have probably been taken into care.
He’s retreated to the pub to lick his words.
All is peace in the gillyflower household.
Except for this bloody chest infection. I can bark at the dogs now.

You know Peter, as much as I try, some people just dont want to understand anything other than what they believe to be their own course of action. We are not all the same. If I were in Gerrys shoes, and in the heat of the moment (bearing in mind it wasnt long after the last check) I think I would be frantically running the streets in the hope I would catch the claimed person. If I went straight to the phone and called the police, to me, I would be wasting valuable time in catching the perpetrator.

I do not agree. The fact that Max Clifford has allowed his name to be linked with Robert Murat is significant. Clifford rarely backs a loser, and that is the point I was trying to make. To say that MC works for money is hardly a revelation and I feel that he must be pretty sure that Murat is in the clear and that substantial damages are owed or he would not have gotten involved at all.

Well there you go. From what I have been led to believe he asked someone from MW to make the phone call. And by the way, I searched in my house,the garden, the neighbours and I evetually got in my car to look for her. It was a good 30 mins+ before I contacted the police. Why? Because I felt I would find her. When, and after that time it was apparent that I wasnt going to , i decided to phone the police. And in Gerrys case, he would have felt the same. Kate, hysterical and claiming she’s been taken. With the amount of checks the friends were purported to have taken this potential kidnapper couldnt have gone too far. I think everyone was franticly searching for her.The 40 mins iant as insignicant as you would like to believe. If of course, the 40 mins is even accurate.
