I cannot make my mind up why this type of person is drawn to a forum like anorak - I guess the answer is they probably feel driven enough to voice their opinions which seem to me to be invariably negative.

On why they’ve had such support from the british establishment.
I’m not one to favour conspiracy theories (they are often an easy excuse for something a lot more complicated). But you should think about the following “coincidences”:
- - - A Mr Andrew Brown (allegedly Gordon Brown’s brother)works for EDF energy which operates nuclear power stations. In November 2005, EFD’s Chief Executive, Vincent de Rivaz, told a parliamentary committee that new nuclear power stations could be built within ten years if planning and licensing laws are relaxed.
- Gerry McCann is a medical advisor to COMARE, a governemnt committee which monitors radiation in the enviroment. You can
- Today Gordon Brown is expected to announce formal go-ahead for new Nuclear Power Stations in the UK.
- This morning in a French radio station EDF was mentioned as a favourite to be granted the contract to build and run some of these power stations in the UK.
Lies, coincidences, inaccuracies? Maybe. But these are facts that when brougth into the same context should make us think…
Putting out old interviews like Vanity Fair/Film is a high risk strategy – as headlines and editorial presentation are now subtly shifting. It’s getting very hard for CM to maintain control.
Also, the use of the word “murder” is interesting, since I have always understood that the PJ tended to think more in terms of an accident, i.e. manslaughter, rather than murder.
To play devil’s advocate for a moment, she might just have gone stark staring mad. If not, it’s the most revolting cynical comment (not sure that the English word is cynical - I might be going Spanglish) I’ve heard for a long time.
‘It was at that point, Trish says, that her sister-in-law became incandescent with rage, screaming, “Do you honestly believe that I would murder my own child?”

I do so agree about the way times have changed
I often think back to those halcyon days of our youth, when to be gay meant to be happy, a Virgin was not an airline, and only Generals had Aides.
In those days you married first and then lived together,
fast food was what you ate during Lent,
sheltered accommodation was where you waited for a bus.
a chip was a small piece of potato, not silicone,
making out referred to how you did in your exams,
a stud was what attached your collar to your shirt,
and going all the way with your girl friend meant staying on the trolley bus all the way to the depot.
Cigarette smoking was fashionable, grass was mown, coke was kept in the shed, a joint was the Sunday roast, and pot was what you cooked it in.
Ecstasy was a religious experience, and smack was what your father gave you if you smoked a cigarette.
When I was young it was the ‘Duke’ of York who had 10 thousand men.

Tony Bennett has put it so well.
One of the suspicious things about the McCanns and also Jane Tanner is the flat, “dead” voices they use in interviews. There is nothing natural or spontaneous about the way they speak.
The only time KM sounded faintly natural was that weird interlude on Panorama when, frankly, she seemed a bit drunk.

No-one would have dreamed of thinking they were involved in Madeleine’s disappearance…until they were caught out in all the inconsistencies about doors locked/unlocked, windows jemmied/not jemmied, soft toy on non-existent high shelf..and that was just the beginning.
The biggest mystery is why the British press is pussy-footing around the subject. Worse…deliberately holding back on any criticism of McCanns, even while the inernet forums seethe with it.
When, for instance, nanny Louise Woodward was accused of shaking the little boy she looked after in the US, the press didn’t feel any need to protect her because she was British. So what is going on here?
