Madeleine McCann: The Gardener Questioned, Marcos Correia Cries Rape And Kelsey Lynn Kudla Says
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: BRITISH ODD-JOB MAN QUIZZED”
A new suspect?
“An anonymous email sent to Portuguese detectives claimed that Daniel Groom was spotted lurking in an alley close to the McCanns’ apartment on the night Madeleine vanished”
The paper says he looks not too unlike the man seen walking from the holiday complex holding a child. You know, that man with no face…
Says Mr Groom: “I think I am being framed. I am the victim of a smear campaign by someone with a grudge against me… During the week two detectives had arrived in town and begun asking friends about my whereabouts. I rang them after they left a message with a friend. I met them in a car park in Praia da Luz… They were two detectives from the Lisbon area, a good cop and a bad cop. One guy was quite small and smoked a cigar. The other guy was really fat, wore girly sunglasses and kept looking around him all the time”
A good cop? We know all about the bad cops (see the Sun). But this good cop..?
They showed him the email. It went:
“Is it a coincidence that this man started working as a gardener in the area and a child went missing?
“Maybe he walked through the car park at the front of the McCanns’ apartment and a little way down the dark alley between the two buildings where he could see and probably hear that the McCanns were there.
“After that maybe he listened at the window of the McCanns’ apartment for any sign that someone such as a babysitter was there. No television…nothing.
“Did this man initially see the McCanns and Madeleine whilst working on an empty apartment/villa and note that the children were left alone? Did he then come back to watch the McCanns when it was dark and not during daylight hours?”
This is front-page news…
Says Groom: “After a few minutes they said they thought it was all b******t. They said if they needed to talk to me again they would, but they thought they were barking up the wrong tree”
A gardening joke to end. Mr Groom may survive his ordeal
“KEEP LOOKING FOR HER, BEGS GRANDAD” – Says Brian Healey: “There has been so much that has been said and written, much of it untrue and hurtful, but so often it seems to me as if the only really important person in all this has been forgotten – and that’s Madeleine”
Indeed. ‘Nuff said…
“Some people don’t seem to want to know about the real Kate”
As we say, ‘nuff said…
THE SUN: “’Paedo dumped Maddie in lake’”
“MADELEINE McCann was raped and killed within 48 hours of being snatched then thrown in a reservoir, a Portuguese lawyer claimed yesterday. Human rights solicitor Marcos Aragao Correia said underworld sources tipped him off on May 6, three days after the tot vanished in Praia da Luz”
May 6?
Correia says he told the police. He then told Metodo 3, the McCanns’ private detectives. Correia says Madeleine’s body was in a reservoir with a small beach and showers for campers, late identified as the Barragem do Arade reservoir
Remerb when X marked the spot - “Vermoedelijke Vindplaats”
“KATE dad: Back off my daughter” – Says Brian Healy: “Some people don’t seem to want to know about the real Kate. She is such a warm and caring person, as well as being intelligent. But you can’t win because people say, ‘He would say that, he’s her father’”
Why would we care? A child is missing, why is it important we like Kate McCann?
“READERS in fury at ’sick stunt’”
“SUN readers bombarded our MySun discussion forums yesterday to vent their disgust following our revelations that an agency is ready to hire out a Maddie lookalike”
“LOOKALIKE mum: Let us help” – “The tearful mum of a tiny lookalike who hopes to play Madeleine McCann in a film insisted last night: ‘We only want to help’. American Kris Pfister, whose three-year-old Kelsey Lynn Kudla bears a stunning resemblance to the missing tot, added: “I feel for Maddie’s family — I am on their team”
Well, no, you’re not. But you are in the papers. Fame beckons? Tonight, Matthew, I’m going to be…
Quote of the week: “Since people started telling her she looked like Maddie, Kelsey’s been following the news. She cries when she hears she’s still missing. When we read there may be a documentary or film on the hunt, she said, ‘Mummy, I could play Madeleine. I look just like her’”
Here’s Kels-seeeey. (Come, on, Kelsey, you’re on… Smile!)
“People say that I look like Maddie. She lost her mummy and daddy. I want to help bring her home”
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE WAS ‘SNATCHED AND MURDERED’”
“Madeleine McCann was abducted, raped, murdered and thrown in a reservoir, a lawyer claimed last night”
It’s Marcos Correia again. Who told him? He will not say. But the paper notes: “He spent three weeks at the reservoir with investigators from the McCanns’ Metodo 3 agency. Last night he called on the police to search it extensively”
They have done. You can read about it here
Are these underworld figures known to Antonio Toscano?
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine was ‘raped, murdered - and then dumped in reservoir’”
“Underworld criminals contacted a human rights lawyer on May 6, three days after the girl vanished, with details of her alleged abduction and murder, he said. But when Marcos Aragao Correia tried to tell police, he was ignored, he added”
Or not. The reservoir was searched
“PORTUGUESE police ‘want to keep Madeleine file secret for another three months’”
Says Clarence Mitchell the couple’s spokesman: “We are disappointed, but not surprised given that the police are still investigating.
“We had expected this request, however our lawyers will be examining it and once again we would urge the police to come over and interview who they want to.
“DEATH threats for woman hiring out Madeleine lookalikes” - Shona Juliet-Adams, owner of Juliet Adams Modelling and Talent Casting Agency, says: “”I have had threatening phone calls and death threats. I am not speaking to anybody until I have spoken to the police about my security - I received death threats”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns suffer ‘almost inhumane’ police delay”
Kate and Gerry McCann could remain official suspects in their daughter’s disappearance for “several more months”
Clarence Mitchell says: “This is extremely disappointing. We will continue to co-operate with the Portuguese police, of course. However, the delay in resolving the case and eliminating Gerry and Kate is now becoming almost inhumane”
“BAD taste jokes need time to be funny” - An interactive humour survey at the Science Museum’s Dana centre in central London. Only seven per cent of the audience felt that a joke about Bhutto’s death was funny or amusing and only 31 per cent felt humour involving the McCanns was appropriate”
A Joke: “Dr Harold Shipman’s last meal was a curry. He said he enjoyed it but he could have murdered a nan”
FOX NEWS (USA): “Report: Agency Worker Receives Death Threats Over Madeleine McCann Look-Alikes”
“Shona Juliet-Adams, 41, whose agency offers the look-alikes for about $1,174 an hour, said she has been receiving ‘threatening phone calls and death threats’”

Which would fly, except for a key ‘fact’ - the only ‘fact’ available to us which supports any kind of proof of abdcution - Tanners sighting of the cartoon man.
He could not have passed Gerry, Tanner and Jez and got to the point of sighting by Tanner - actually that whole sighting would be exposed as a ludicrous invention if the man had left by the patio doors.
Any theory of exit by that route wipes out the only abduction ‘evidence’.
—–
Ian,
The Sky report shows with colored dotted lines, the alleged path taken by Gerry and where he crossed the street to meet Jez and have a chat, and also the path taken by Jane Tanner, who was coming from the Tapas Restaurant, at this stage in the opposite direction to Gerry and opposite side of the street. The abductor could have come down the flight of stairs (that lead to the terrace/sliding door) exited and crossed the street a few meters from where allegedly Jane Tanner was at that point in time. All this is only my humble opinion.

Don’t think so. Drug tests are typically done on urine samples, and the technology of testing for drugs this way is quite well established - since taking blood samples is no alternative (in sports, suspects etc…)

No.
We’re not talking about professional sports people taking performance enhancing drugs, often provided by medical professionals. The twins weren’t proposing to enter the Tour de France.
If you have two unconscious children who do not awaken even as all hell breaks loose around them, then they may need to be ventilated in the near future if their respiratory system fails.
They may need to be on total life support if their organs fail.
There is no possible way in which that could be provided chez McCann.
The McCanns broke all the protocols on how to deal with a suspected poisoning.
They had no excuse for it whatsoever since they are both doctors.

Whilst residing in the “lower field” and taking the opportunity to browse those expensive coffee table magazines that Mrs Peter O insists on buying.. (Odd behaviour since we don’t have a coffee table..)

The McRepitlians try to become invisible and play hide and seek, but don’t worry Gerry and Kate, they will find you
Maddie’s parents decided to become invisible. Before, they talked all the time. Now, they only agrred to taping a Christmas message because their assessors insisted on it. SÁBADO was in the UK and saw how their days are like — betwenn ther hospital, the creche, the twins’ swimming pool and the huge household whree the only room that still looks the same is Madeleine’s.
————
The night has fallen. It’s 2ºC, but the cold doesn’t stop Gerry McCann from covering on his bike the more than 13 kilometres separating his house from the hospital he works at. At 17:55 he shows up, wearing a helmet, in a dark sports outfit, grey tennis and a backpack on his back. In the final straight part of his course he doesn’t need to pedal anymore. He already has acquired momentum and needs only to let himself slide down the slope of the street. Had he not been intercepted, he’d only stop only that the #5 door. Due to SABADO’s request, he brakes at the entrance of the alley that gives access to seven households (the McCanns’ is the largest), already on sight — and at reach — of police protection. As soon as he realizes it’s a journalist, he interrupts the dialogue. Well behaved, he promises to talk to Clarence Mitchell, the couple’s PR, while he pushes the bike. In a matter of seconds he disappears beyond the house’s gate, with the two policewomen already outside the patrol car, with crossed arms, open legs, ready to avoid more inconveniences.
A few hours later he’d talk indeed with Clarence Mitchell. And Clarence Mitchell talked with SÁBADO: “Gerry wasn’t particularly happy with your approach”. And the interview? “Let me see. We’ll consider it for the weekend, but the answer will surely be no”. And it was. “They don’t even want to see journalists in front of them and I also think it’s best they don’t”, he explained after five days. “We’re not going to get into that agenda now”.
And they haven’t, in fact — the strategy of the McCann couple has now become to appear as little as possible; now, they want to escape the journalist’s attention and retire to their life in the small Rothley village.
(…)
That’s the way things are — controlled to the smallest detail — since Clarence Mitchell took over as the McCanns’ spokesperson, on September 18. Nothing comes out of them or reaches them without his permission. After the interview to the Antena 3 Spanish TV channel (on October 14) Kate and Gerry McCann never talked to journalists again. “Even that we did only because Metodo 3 [the detective agency hired by the McCanns] thought it would be good to publicize the case, the pictures and the telephone number in Spain”, states the assessor. “And even so some people even got hold of some psychologists in order to say Kate’s tears were faked”. Justifying himself with the arguido status and the “nonsense” that according to him are published in the press, Clarence Mitchell decided to implement the cork cap law [Portuguese expression; means strict gagging orders or censorship]. Nobody talks anymore. End of story.
(…)
At the same time, the McCanns’ spokesperson handled the media. “When I arrived here there were about 20 TV vehicles and dozens of journalists. It was completely crazy. The first thing I said was: ‘There will be only one briefing a week and it will be in London. If anything new happens we’ll be available, otherwise there’s no reason for them to be here bothering the residents’. After two or three days they finally got the message and disappeared,” Clarence Mitchell tells SÁBADO. An ITV reporter confesses: “We try not to bother them, otherwise we know we won’t get anything”. The reporters working for tabloid papers reserve him another adjective: arrogant. The assessor ridicules a lot of questions he’s asked and calls the news desks criticizing the news that are not to his liking. A journalist from a Sunday paper accuses: “He’s got the monopoly on information and all the British press is afraid of him”.

Peter O - more than just not teasting the twins - less than 48 hours later the twins were left with ’strangers’ in the creche. The same strangers that the McC’s didn’t want to leave them with in the evenings, the same strangers who may have been responsible for ‘abducting’ Maddie.

We disagree on the facts of the position and we disagree on a fundamental point which I have recently been taught! Its written down in my course notes! Evidence is the legal version of the facts (says the course book!) proof is the legal version of truth. What other facts do you have in a court case except that which is presented as evidence? Heres a knife with blood staines on it. Its a fact that this is a knife and its a fact that the stains are blood.
Anyway, lets not seek to confuse each other but return to the initial disagreement.
One persons fact is not necessarily accepted as a fact by another, was the basic argument.
Someone said earlier, ‘its a fact that the twins were not tested in a hospital’ - that person believes it to be a fact. It is their perception. To me it amy not be a fact, as its not been proven to me. I may choose to have faith in that person and accept it as a fact. It then becomes a fact in my belief system.
I believe its a fact that evidence is legal fact. You believe you have proven that this is not a fact. I do not have sufficient faith in the evidence you have provided to me to believe that evidence does not have to be factual. I can try to swamp you with cases (I have access to thousands and thouands of citations!) which show where evidence has been taken as fact and applied to the law to reach a judgement.
All it would do would be to fill up space here and distract us from seeking to prove that Madeleine McCann was not abducted by stranger!

Indeed.
And the parking meter must have made a mistake.
But it remains a fact that the twins were not taken to hospital to be tested and monitored.
It is also a fact that there is no conceivable justification for that if the McCanns genuinely believed that someone had abducted their other child.

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence to suggest any testing/monitoring of the twins was carried out in the hours and days following Madeleine’s disappearance.

Daqisy 117 - and where do the open shutters feature in this scenario?
—-
Miss Match,
In my theory there are not shutters open. That’s something that the parents, in my opinion, made up, together with other things, to cover-up for the neglect aspect of this case. They were in a state of panic and had to come up with something quickly to let people know that they had been “very responsible” in looking after the children every 30 mins. I personally don’t believe that they checked on the kids as often as they say they did either.
January 12th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Daisy - Yes, Dr McCann sits on the odd committee as an advisor, but he is hardly a big fish. If he really carries the weight and power that you believe, surely the McCann children would have had body guards.
If this was a political kidnap, I doubt the worldwide publicity would help. On the contrary, it would put Madeleine’s life in danger.

114 Ferdinand - in Italy, and not sure if it is the same as in Portugal, but the first thing that the police do when there is a kidnapping, is to freeze the bank accounts of the family to stop them paying a ransom demand to kidnappers. Italians do not negotiate with kidnappers, (allegedly).
Considering that the McCanns were unable to pay their mortgate shortly after the ‘abduction’, I seriously doubt that Madeleine was a kidnap target for financial gain.

Miss Match,
In my opinion, if there was an abduction, it wasn’t for financial gain, but for another reason. Could have been for “favors” (either you do this for me or you’ll never see your child again), or some scientific reason, or some political reason. I believe that there is some big “secret” behind this disappearance, which is more than just lying about time-lines, alleged cover-up after the fact, etc.

Oh and one other thing, its difficult to cite cases where evidence (facts) were inadmissable or suppressed!
Thats my point. The facts presented may not be all of the facts (and rarely if ever are all the facts).
From those ‘facts’ presented the court will apply the law. It will not apply the law to ‘facts’ not presented. The perception is that no other ‘facts’ exist, as you cannot compare any ‘facts’ to the law if you dont have those ‘facts’ to present.
So the existence of fact, the presentaion of fact and the definition of fact all impact on the outcome.

Evidence isn’t fact.
Evidence is what you use to determine fact.
