Madeleine McCann: McCann Incorporated, McCann Ink And Going Back To Portugal
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY MIRROR: “Tapas 7 in despair at all the ‘lies’”
They say they are also called the Tapas Nine? And the Sangria Seven
“The Tapas Seven are “in meltdown” over the failure of Portuguese police to make any meaningful progress in the hunt for Madeleine”
“IT’S OUR D-DAY - McCanns return to Portugal - EXCLUSIVE Kate and Gerry set date in April for Algarve showdown They’ll tell cops: show your evidence or clear us for good”. Like that D-Day back on November?
“Despairing Kate and Gerry McCann are planning to return to Portugal for a face-to-face showdown with police who think they killed their daughter Madeleine”
They are going back. Now..?
Well, not exactly: “A close friend said the the couple were likely to go back after their ‘D-Day’ of April 11, when their three-month extension is up, and added: ‘They feel they’ve waited long enough with this cloud of suspicion hanging over them. They know their return would be very high-profile. They believe investigators do not have the evidence against them to bring charges, and their presence in Portugal would embarrass them. They’ve so far held off going back there, but they see it as their trump card”
They will go back once they have been allowed to see the police first on them
Says the paper’s source: “They see April 11 as their D-day. They have decided to give the police reasonable time to clear them, or at least open the case files so they can see the evidence against them”
That’s good of them…
FIONA Philips, of GMTV writes: “Have a heart”. Yes, that Fiona Philips
“Unbelievably, every time I write about the McCanns I get messages saying, ‘I used to like you, until you started supporting the McCanns.’ Nice, eh? So I hope you’re happy now that Kate and Gerry have blamed themselves for Madeleine’s disappearance”
Happy?
“In a list of ‘if onlys’, Gerry said: ‘I wish I’d stayed in the apartment that night.’ Now, I expect more bile on praising them for considering making a documentary on the case. Surely you can’t tell me that there’s a parent out there who wouldn’t do anything possible to find their missing child?”
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “’We pray she’ll be at party for twins’”
“Brave Kate McCann is planning a huge birthday party for her twins - and dreams missing Maddie will be there too. Kate, 39, has vowed to go ahead with the bash for Sean and Amelie even though she is still waiting for cops to quiz her again. Mother-in-law Eileen said: ‘The party’s on and it will be an even bigger one if wee Madeleine is back. All we can do is hope and pray.’ Sean and Amelie turn three on February”
Touching stuff. Gerry McCann is a “heart specialist”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “Madeleine: No film will be made unless she’s found - alive or dead”
“Kate and Gerry McCann have been told that the proposed documentary about their daughter’s disappearance can go ahead only if she is found – alive or dead.
A source says: “It was awkward to raise but there would need to be an ending – either Madeleine being found alive or a body being discovered. If this wasn’t the case, and there was a major development after filming and editing, it could render the documentary redundant”
Or the parents or some other person or persons are charged, perhaps?
THE OBSERVER: “A good week for … a bad week for …”
“A bad week for …
“Tradition – A Lib Dem MP called Lynne Featherstone has made a bid for the limelight by reporting the monarchy to the Equality Commission because it goes in for primogeniture”
“Marcus Agius The chairman of Barclay’s was the target of £10,000 fraud”
“Good Taste - Or indeed any taste at all. A London based agency which supplies celebrity doubles has employed a small girl to rent out as Madeleine McCann. 20 per cent”
It was a “good weeks for… Washing up”
“THE Maddie story is already a soap opera, so why the moral panic over a movie? - Don’t get me wrong - nobody wants to see Maddie: The Musical. However, needs must if the McCanns want to continue trying to find out what happened to their daughter and they do, despite the devastating expense (their somewhat unproductive detective agency alone costs £50,000 a month) and the increasingly shabby odds.”
Maddie: The Musical, eh..?
THE SUNDAY INDEPENDENT: “Strange case of the detectives trying to trace Madeleine”
“After a week when commercials deals were more apparent than clues, we investigate the investigators”. Why not investigate the case?
“Just when the Madeleine McCann saga couldn’t get any more agonising, along came a raft of developments last week that began to achieve what you would hope would be impossible: turning a little missing girl into an industry – Madeleine Inc. Item: a London agency hawking around various small girls as Madeleine lookalikes. Item: US television bringing a team of psychics to bear on the disappearance as part of what they no doubt hoped would be a money-spinner of a show. Item: her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, exploring the possibility of selling the book and film rights to the case”
Madeleine became a brand long ago. Brand McCann…
“Madeleine Inc bring benefits to some, but not, so far, to the girl herself or her distraught parents”
Or Madeleine Ink – see the press
THE SUNDAY TIMES: Ron Liddle writes:
“So, get yourself ready for Maddie – The Movie (PG, until you fancy nipping out for something to eat). Kate and Gerry McCann’s press spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, has confirmed that the couple met with representatives from the US entertainment company IMG before Christmas and that while nothing was agreed, the meeting had been ‘positive’. A day later Gerry McCann hastily backtracked and said no, no, they weren’t planning a movie. Who to believe? And which British actors will Hollywood cast as the parents if there is a film? Sacha Baron Cohen and Catherine Tate? Am I bovvered? Look at my face – is it bovvered? And maybe Matt Lucas as the shady-looking Robert Murat? Norman Wisdom as the Portuguese chief of police?”

Watcher, if it’s nothing personal and purely connected to his legal cases, do you really need to ask about his name? In any case, at least you can personally share your views about his role in the stories/cases with him.

Let’s not roll into that, although, I am Oscar…the trash can one. Don’t tell the kids! Silly little kids..

it seems Mr Tony Bennett enjoys using his ‘position’ to be taken seriously on this forum.
however his track record would seem to be lacking having failed to bring a case against both barrymore and the McCanns .
nothing personal tony
but why use your real identity on here?
vanity?

Well, I suppose ‘because it’s true’ would be the obvious answer.
TB and I have had a fair number of ‘heated’ discussions ,but I have never gained the impression that TB has any more, or any less, than the usual quota of human vanity…

For those not wishing to think of Kate dying by apparent suicide, there is another, perhaps more palatable alternative possible outcome. That is that they both are killed in an apparent accident/suicide.
is this your idea of fun??
am i alone on this or do others on the forum object to this sort of sick fantasy ?
—-
The Watcher,
I object!! I object not only to these sickening wishes of some posters but also to the unsubstantiated claims, which are all based on allegations released/leaked by/to the Media.
No-one has any concrete proof of anything, except maybe the PJ.
And I will bring in the following case: Lindy Chamberlaine spent 6 years in jail for a crime she did not commit. Everybody found it impossible that a dingo could have taken the baby and the majority of the public hated her and the media also. There were no internet forums back then, but the same hatered that is displayed by many here, was then printed in the media and reported on TV.
Since that case, there have been several attacks by dingos on toddlers, but thankfully family members were nearby to rescue the child from the hungry animal.

Trust me; the willingness to overlook such matters has nothing to do with being blonde.
There has been a concerted campaign by Team McCann to slag off anyone they can think of in pursuit of their own ends.
Michaela’s daughter is reported as seeing a psychologist after the abysmally immoral attack on her by the press, cutting and pasting Clarrie’s press releases.
It has only been very recently that the media here have begun to ask unpleasant questions about the McCanns; hitherto they have been perfectly happy to print anything Clarrie hands them…

BUT being blinded by admiration or wilful obtuseness or indeed brainwashing into an opinion is morally uncertain too.
___________________________________________________________________
My view of this case , which makes me see the McCanns and their friends as less than totally credible, is as follows.
A group of not-so-young, educated , British people repeatedly leave their children unattended while they go dining and drinking on their European holiday. One couple does use a baby monitor. They have a “checking system” and look in on the kids every 30 minutes or so.
On the evening of a quiz night, one of the children disappears from an apartment where she was left alone with 2 younger siblings. Varying and contradictory accounts are provided by the group members (including the parents) regarding how often they checked the children, when the missing child was last seen, and whether or not the appartment window and shutters were open when they went to check. These discrepancies are never cleared up.
One woman claims to have seen a man making off with the child, but another male member of the groups says that he did not see her or the man, even though he was in a place where he could not have avoided seeing them. The description and height of the abductor, given by the woman, changes in time.
The parents immediately set up a fund and collect a huge amount of public money and see nothing wrong with paying mortgage payments from that fund, until others object to it.
They put forward an abduction theory as fact, when it is hardly more than their belief and account for the small window of opportunity available to the would be abductor by claiming that the perp watched and waited for an opportunity.
The parents also complain constantly about being suspects, even though close family members are usually considered suspects in such cases, unless there is firm evidence that they were not involved. There is one other official suspect, who maintains that he is in no way involved and who remains in Portugal. The parents answered “no comment” when asked if they knew that man prior to their child’s disappearance.
Please point out any bits of the above which denote moral obtuseness, brainwashing or blinding admiration of anyone,

Leeza, you are missing my point entirely. Despite all that which you have so eloquently compiled there is a certain mindset of people who still can see nothing wrong the the people who created the situation of the disappearence. They could see things happend , hear things , and know things and STILL be obtuse enough not to acknowledge it.
By May 5th I was very unsure of anything we were led to believe, events since then have not changed anything.
BUT there is a mindset who WILL not see.
Have you read all the posts in here, especially from the pro camp?

Also good to remind ourselves of Gerry’s somewhat bizarre outlook:
‘Mr McCann, 39, agreed with hospital bosses that he will respect the wishes of any patient who does not want to be under his care.’
Gerry has no choice whatsoever in the matter; the suggestion that he loftily condescended to respecting the wishes of patients implies that he does.
Amazing what running a search on Vanessa Allen pulls up…

i do not have sympathy for anyone who inflicts pain on others
and that includes people on here who want to inflict pain on the McCanns
to indulge in sadistic fantasy to me is disturbing no matter who is the victim.
to try to justify such fantasies leads us into a very black area.
when is it right to enjoy watching people being tortured.
in my opinion never.
******************************
I would never personally want to inflict pain on others. However, I feel that there needs to be justice for Madeleine. For the Mc’s to be going through the mental torture of knowing that their little girl is no longer around, I’m afraid, is not enough punishment for the circumstances that caused Madeleine’s disappearance.
They are now living back at their home in Rothley, breathing in fresh air every single day and carrying on (to a certain degree) with their lives with the twins. But where is Madeleine? Certainly not living life the way her neglectful parents are. They need to be shown that their judgement was WRONG, as they will never admit it! If you or I show wrong judgement by for e.g. such a petty crime as stealing a packet of sweets from a shop, and are caught, will we then not be shown the error of our ways and be meted out a suitable punishment? Their “crime” of neglect appears to be going unpunished, and why, because they’ve lost their daughter? THEY CAUSED IT!
They, themselves, invited all the attention onto them, supposedly in the hunt for their daughter (which has been seriously lacking from their part, apart from their OWN media exposure!), so why do they then object so much when not everyone wishes to take their part and can see right through them to the basics of what they did? IMHO everything that each and every person thinks of them and says about them was brought about by their own actions.

the basic story in the film “the truman show” is exactly that - the mass manipulation of public opinion
