AS Gawker head Nick Denton notes, the video of Tom Cruise preaching about Scientology has been on the web for a while. It is the Sun’s “Cruise’s oddball cult rant”.
But it has been removed from YouTube.
You can watch it hereunder, for now:
Given that religionists make videos of heads being lopped off, is this so bad? Let’s ask the guys in the white vans…

what a nutter….i have never liked him, especaially since his refusal to come out of the closet
scary nutter.
January 17th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I worked for someone who worked personnally for him. I have personally spoken to him and I can say from experience that he is the most arrogant and obnoxious individual in the world.
January 17th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
WHAT AN IDIOT.
January 17th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Yes, he’s boring as hell and yes, his ego is nausiatingly out of control….but he’s really no different than any other proponent of organized religion. He thinks that his religion is the ONLY religion….. that they’re the most enlightened, the only ones thinking clearly, and that the rest of us are morons for not believing exactly how they do. It’s how every single war has begun on this planet, by religious fanatics like Cruise who do everything in their power to shove their beliefs down the throats of everyone else. That given, it’s hard to single he & his beloved Scientology out as the only nut jobs, though he certainly does represent “nut job” with perfection.

Tom’s a great actor, but a crap script writer and ad-libber, maybe a rehearsal was warranted - it reminds me of the Michael Palin Prophet in The life of Brian “There shall in that time be rumors of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things with the sort of raffia-work base, that has an attachment. At that time, a friend shall lose his friend’s hammer, and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight O’clock..”
I wonder if the cuts throughout the film are done by TCoS or the releaser?
Generally dull

I think this must be an audition tape for a new movie where he’s going to play the part of a mental patient. He’s very convincing!

Jake Says:
Never has someone talked so much without saying a single thing.

Exactly. But wasn’t it fun watching how SMART he wants to appear? Poor little megalomanic man.
By the way: In Germany the Scientology organisation is under surveilleince of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
January 17th, 2008 at 5:43 am
Does Tom ever read what happened to L. Ron Hubbard’s family and close buddies? Talk about criminal..oh, that is why “they” would authorities on criminals….LOL.
January 17th, 2008 at 5:42 am
Poor Tom boring as batshit. Is he suppose to be captivating or put you to sleep?
What does he want done to the “spectators”? If “they” (scientologists) are the leading authority on criminals why are they not in the prison system? Why is there still a prison system if they are an authority? Sounds to me like a little bit of head too big to get through the door syndrome. Why is it that John Travolta doesn’t upchuck this dribble as much as Tom?
Tom has issues full stop.
January 17th, 2008 at 5:19 am
Because it is what it is.. you know what I mean.. I mean where ever you go, there you are… What goes up must come down, you know what I’m saying? If I go over there then thats where I am, how much clearer can it be? If you’re able then you can, right?
Does anyone know what in the heck this guy is trying to say? I’ve never seen someone say so much and not say a thing. Whatever they’re passing around at that church someone should get ATF to investigate.
January 17th, 2008 at 4:38 am
This guy is fuckin nuts. WTF was he talking about! Amazing firsthand footage of the power of brainwashing via religion/cults.
January 17th, 2008 at 3:47 am
To Shawn,
A 26 point increase in your IQ? That’s fabulous! So I’m guessing that puts you around 90
or so now, right? Your Mom must be thrilled that you can tie your own shoes and stuff now.
Thank Xenu for Scientology! (How’s that for “exuberant amounts of animosity”). God, what drivel! Burn your thesaurus, professor! You’re much too intelligent to need it now!
January 17th, 2008 at 3:41 am
WOW! I think what L. Ron junior was trying to say is that he and all of those other wackjobs think they are superheroes. Don’t act like only scientologists “save” or “help” people. I think you are very sad and you need to join a cult that was basically started from science fiction novels because you are not a very good actor and you need something else to do with your time. I feel very sad for you and hope you enjoy it when the spaceship comes and takes you and your family away. I know I will.
January 17th, 2008 at 1:44 am
The Church of Scientology is for people who have nothing better to do in their lives but control other people. No wonder it is liquid rich…will remove vulnerable persons’ well earned cash from them very quickly. Kate looks awful in these days…dresswise. Bet her family are worried about her. Look what the Scientology lot have done to Nicole’s adopted children…cut them off. There is another religion like one. All going nowhere.
January 17th, 2008 at 1:28 am
he’s mental and he’s saying bollocks but whatever he’s on, i want some of it!!
January 17th, 2008 at 12:54 am
Tom does sound nutty. But his beliefs are his beliefs. The wonderful thing about America is that he is NOT supposed to be persecuted for his beliefs. Just as christians, atheists, agnostics, jewish, catholics, buddists, muslims, condombles, and the other 5000 religions in this world are not supposed to be persectued. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I present toyou the first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This amendment is what gives you the right to say all of the things you’ve said here today. We should not forget that this country was found on differences. Different races, religions, homelands; but, we all had the same idea! We WANTED/ARE ENTITLED to FREEDOM.
I find it rather bizarre that people here complain this is not news, yet leave comments and watched. What is also very strange is that not one person has mentioned an obvious fact. This video MUST be altered in some way. It appears broken, sound fades in and out, it is almost a planned attempt at making Mr. Cruise look crazy.
Please do not take this as my support of Scientology. I am a free thinker, I support no dogmatic approach. I just ask that as Americans, as Humans, we take a look at ourselves, ask would I want someone saying this about me? It’s a simple concept, Aretha Franklin said it best, R-E-S-PECT…. find out what it means to me (Or you, or others).
We don’t all have to agree. But, we should all respect one another. Perhaps if we did, wars wouldn’t be waged for oil, terrorists wouldn’t bomb countries because of different beliefs, and children wouldn’t die needlessly, and the hungry would get feed.
I pose this question: WHERE HAVE OUR PRIORITIES GONE? When the beliefs of one man engross an entire nation for a day. Just think what we could all accomplish if we worked together like this on something important.
January 17th, 2008 at 12:53 am
STOP making stuff up and preaching falsities as fact. You are holding back the human race as a whole. Shame on you and your retard cult.
January 16th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Tom Cruise sounds like he is on drugs and needs help himself. I didn’t understand what the heck he was talking about. It made no sense at all. Maybe is own scientology members should help him.
January 16th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Oh Tom
How to say more and more about less and less
January 16th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Never has someone talked so much without saying a single thing.
January 16th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Interesting points Ramey King. As a recruitment tool, has this video been successful? I could not understand what Tom Cruise was saying - it sounded a bit like the bloke had been on the drink, no clear theme or message. Do potential Scientologists have their interest piqued by the mundane or is the message overshadowed by the fact that it is delivered by a movie star?
Scientology does not seem to do any harm, unlike a lot of other, major religions but I still think I’d prefer to have an ambulance crew attend a car accident - sorry Tom!
January 16th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I didn’t personally watch the video, but I want to write S/G. My wife and I are relatively new to Scientology. Where I cannot intelligently speak for Mr. Cruise’s experiences in Scientology, I can say Scientology saved me and my marriage–two distinctly different and real ruins of my life. The best part is, Scientology never interfered or conflicted with our religion. Maybe it’s just me, but something which turns someone’s life around, where they’re healthier, happier, more intelligent (IQ increase of 26 points), quicker to response (aptitude increase of 45%), etc, deserves maybe a small jump on the couch. Sounds like something that could never happen, huh? Guess again. Before getting into Scientology, and even now, I’ve heard an exuberant amount of animosity from people with a proclivity to defame others and their religion. With anyone spreading information (particularly of a negative nature), one should perhaps look deeper at the specific source(s) of the negative information.
January 16th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Thank you, Ramey Kings, for blowing all the lies out of the water. It IS very funny hearing all the silly things being said about him and about Scientology or L. Ron Hubbard.
Before others here make any further, unfounded judgments, read a book - Dianetics to start.
Here’s some valuable thoughts: respect the religion of others and make decisions made on your own observations, not opinion and rumor.
We are scientologists.
January 16th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
i would just like to know how he is changing reality? what a nutter!,
January 16th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Tom Cruise is unqualified to speak on any matters of medical consequence. The Church of Scientology ALSO is NOT qualified to speak on such issues. The issue is that they are hood winking their members by claiming that LRH “researched” and “proved” that his “tech” can heal. This has never been proven. They are bald faced liars and use TC to further their money grubbing agenda. The only research L Ron Hubbard did was to get as high on drugs as he could and transfer to paper whatever came into his head. The anti-drug church, founded by a drug addict. Delicious irony. No wonder everyone in Scientology lies, the entire church is built on them.
January 16th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
“Get those spectators either in the playing field or out of the arena” sound worryingly like jihadist rhetoric to me. Whilst I don’t think Mr. Cruise will be bombing the London Underground anytime soon, shouldn’t we be a little concerned about a extremely high profile celebrity using that influence to promote a faith that either regards people as in and worth bothering with or out and not worth considering? I, for one, won’t be queing up for tickets for his next blockbuster.
January 16th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I’m actually quite amused, No Scientology is not like any other religion. How so? find out for yourself.
I have found myself looking at several websites on this video that has been leaked, purely out of curiosity ( as I am a scientologist)
There are several lies.
1. the video is top secret and not meant to be seen by non-scientologists.
This is definitely not true. It was shown during an IAS (International Association of Scientologists) event. During events, we invite everyone to come and see what is going on in Scientology around the world. So it is true that the church isn’t doing anything, cause we didn’t care who saw it when it was first released.(We just wish you would understand the words he’s using before saying he’s crazy. He may be crazy, but how can you tell if you don’t understand what he’s saying.)
2. That the video is used as a recruitment video.
How can the video be both top secret, and used as a recruitment video.See above. Again It is part of an event where scientologists find out what is going on around the planet in regards to scientology. It is also an awards ceremony.
3. Tom Cruise is trying to spread a message about Scientology.
No, Tom Cruise is recieving an award for having had a direct influence in getting 400,000 children taken off of psychiatric drugs because he had the balls to go on network telivision and tell what he believes. Some people listened. He had also set up a purification center for the rescue workers of Ground Zero to help them get rid of the toxins that were caused by the debris of the 9/11 attacks. These are only a couple of things he did.But ultimately, he is accepting an award and is happy about it.
That’s all I got.
