Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Message And McCann Posters For Mari Cortes Luz
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: “I feel your pain – Kate’s note to kidnap parents”
Kate McCann has delivered a “heartfelt message of support” to the parents of missing girl Mari Luz Cortes
Writes Kate, a “GP”: “I feel your pain, as parents we know what you’re going through…I am praying that Mari Luz is found quickly, safe and well”
Not that it’s all about the McCanns, a Maddy 2. Although: Says Juan Jose Cortes, Mari’s father: “Only now I understand what Madeleine McCann’s parents are suffering”
Neither Mr Cortes nor his wife are named suspects in their child’s disappearance
The McCanns have offered to equip posters of Madeleine with a shot of Mari – 12,000 of them are to be put up in Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands
Mr Cortes says thank you but “We don’t feels strong enough to make a decision”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “The posters could lead to vital clues in both cases. Mari Luz’s face would sit along Madeleine’s… We just want to help”
Help who?
DAILY STAR: “’I KNOW THE PAIN YOU ARE FEELING’”
“Madeleine McCann’s mum has told the parents of a child feared snatched by the same abductor: ‘I feel your pain.’ GP Kate, 39, sent her words of comfort to the parents of five-year-old Mari Luz Cortes when the McCanns’ private detectives met them to investigate links between the two cases”
How did the papers come to know of this message, and how can knowing help either child?
“POLICE reject claims of link” – Portuguese police do not “believe” there is a link between Mari and Madeleine
Kate McCann is a “GP”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns comfort lost girl’s parents”
Kate McCann has sent an “emotional message” to the parents of Mari Luz Cortes
THE McCanns will have to wait until September this year to discover why they were made suspects
THE MIRROR: “KATE’S PRAYER OF HOPE”
“I FEEL YOUR PAIN – Kate’s message to parents of missing Spanish girl Mari”
Reports are that police are seeking a “local sex pest” in Huelva
“70,000..the number of kids under 16 that go missing in the UK every year. Only 10 per cent vanish for more than five days”
Any more room on those posters? How are they remembered?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns tell lost girl’s parents: We feel for you”
Says a friend of Mari’s parents, Irene a
nd Juan Jose Cortes: “They have been touched by the fact someone who is going through her own turmoil can find the strength to think of their moment of need”

… I would prefer for him to be at least having to work for his pay.
………………………………
Again, excuse my ignorance but I take it that a doctor has to be registered with the GMC to practice in the UK. Does that also go for ‘non-contact’ doctoring, for instance medical research or lecturing? And what about working in the private sector, are the rules the same? Also, what about working abroad… maybe a man with his experience could get a job in, say, Portugal!
January 18th, 2008 at 11:39 am
I wonder if Kate got a pay out?
January 18th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Tony - if he were to be suspended it would be suspension with pay. I believe there have been cases of doctors being suspended for years on full pay before action taken. I would prefer for him to be at least having to work for his pay.

Good morning Tony.
I don’t know very much about this sort of thing but are the GMC subject to the FoI? I mean would it be possible to ask them if any reperesntations have been made to ‘discipline’ Dr G and if so what were the findings of the Council?
I seem to recall reading reports from the GMC when they have ’struck doctors off’ before - especially in high profile cases.

El Mundo newspaper said Mari Luz’s grandfather, Juan José Cortés, spoke of ‘Romanian’ immigrants, who he thought may have kidnapped his grand-daughter out of ‘revenge’ for the family’s refusal to allow them stalls at the Sunday market they run in El Portil.

Mari Luz ” parents and extended family and friends and related etc…..KNOW about Mari.
It is well kept quiet in the press because,we all know that it is a feud between gypsies AND it is really better to keep out of their way.
Like Juan said: “the cops are dealing with it.We are all suspicious even us her parents but thats how it is.”
Just a subtil hint the mccanns: “we are poor people,we have nothing. We will sell our house to get Mari back.”…..
I am telling you, I wouldnt like to be near Mari”s abductor.I hope Juan will not go and murder them….

Old rumour, never confirmed….
What I found interesting about the rumour at the time was that seven children and not the eight that ought to have been in the overall group was mentioned. Where was the missing one?
As I say though, this rumour has never been confirmed.

You do not suprise me! It has to be the media involvement and the fact that it occurred in another jurisdiction.

Chosing their status/reputation instead of the truth? It is so foreign to me! or is this (pathological)madness?

“Alcohol changes perceptions and alters judgement. They found Madeleine dead (or perhaps dying) and were terrified - how to explain why they had left her alone. Do not underestimate the reaction of the health service to doctors who had made such poor judgement as to leave little children alone. They would have been finished - and they were obviously very tight financially. They probably saw no real evil in concealment - after all, her life was lost.”
REPLY: I have had an e-mail from a G.P. in the last 24 hours. He says that almost the entire medical profession cannot understand why Dr Gerry McCann has not been suspended fro mpractice. He said that medical ethics and convention effectively prevent one G.P. from bringing another Doctor to the General Medical Council in a case like this, but he fully encourages any member of the public to do so. He says anyone other than Dr McCann woud have been suspended from practice long ago

There has to be another factor that made them want to cover an ‘accident’ up. The only feasible thing is sedation. If this wasn’t the case, then it means a loss of temper resulting in a death (and are we sure that blood was found?) Or else, it has to have been planned. All IMO. I do, however, think the McCanns do believe they are above other people which stuns me as they are both from modest backgrounds. I have searched and searched and they just don’t behave as simple human beings. Any of us with children know that they have reacted with coldness and avarice.

Yep!
Its interesting, though. I have a theory that child care is ‘cyclic’. Life with my parents was pretty harsh. We often got left to fend for ourselves, didnt get fed much, had holes in our shoes (and school trousers!) etc etc.
That made the opposite (and probably too much of a worrier etc).
It makes me wonder if my kids will be like my parents when they have kids of their own!

A close family friend is a “therapist”…. Patterns of behaviour seemingly do “repeat” and it is not unusual for them to skip a generation because indeed as you suggest, the intervening generation may over compensate for whatever ills befell them as youngsters.
I share similar concerns to yours, I too had an “interesting” upbringing at times.

I know this but I still dont understand, there is a big WHY? I just dont grasp it.
If madeleine died accidentally - those unfortunate accidents happen - why dont they just admit it?.
I do not believe in their status etc….its crap. Before being -high- flying connected-VIP-GPs,they are human beings…the sadness of it all is they dont show they are simple human beings.
NO.No similarities at any levels with Mari”s case at all. Here in Spain no one relates the case.It is a kind of mass refusal….
