Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Message And McCann Posters For Mari Cortes Luz
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: “I feel your pain – Kate’s note to kidnap parents”
Kate McCann has delivered a “heartfelt message of support” to the parents of missing girl Mari Luz Cortes
Writes Kate, a “GP”: “I feel your pain, as parents we know what you’re going through…I am praying that Mari Luz is found quickly, safe and well”
Not that it’s all about the McCanns, a Maddy 2. Although: Says Juan Jose Cortes, Mari’s father: “Only now I understand what Madeleine McCann’s parents are suffering”
Neither Mr Cortes nor his wife are named suspects in their child’s disappearance
The McCanns have offered to equip posters of Madeleine with a shot of Mari – 12,000 of them are to be put up in Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands
Mr Cortes says thank you but “We don’t feels strong enough to make a decision”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “The posters could lead to vital clues in both cases. Mari Luz’s face would sit along Madeleine’s… We just want to help”
Help who?
DAILY STAR: “’I KNOW THE PAIN YOU ARE FEELING’”
“Madeleine McCann’s mum has told the parents of a child feared snatched by the same abductor: ‘I feel your pain.’ GP Kate, 39, sent her words of comfort to the parents of five-year-old Mari Luz Cortes when the McCanns’ private detectives met them to investigate links between the two cases”
How did the papers come to know of this message, and how can knowing help either child?
“POLICE reject claims of link” – Portuguese police do not “believe” there is a link between Mari and Madeleine
Kate McCann is a “GP”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns comfort lost girl’s parents”
Kate McCann has sent an “emotional message” to the parents of Mari Luz Cortes
THE McCanns will have to wait until September this year to discover why they were made suspects
THE MIRROR: “KATE’S PRAYER OF HOPE”
“I FEEL YOUR PAIN – Kate’s message to parents of missing Spanish girl Mari”
Reports are that police are seeking a “local sex pest” in Huelva
“70,000..the number of kids under 16 that go missing in the UK every year. Only 10 per cent vanish for more than five days”
Any more room on those posters? How are they remembered?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns tell lost girl’s parents: We feel for you”
Says a friend of Mari’s parents, Irene a
nd Juan Jose Cortes: “They have been touched by the fact someone who is going through her own turmoil can find the strength to think of their moment of need”

I agree with you but isn’t it strange that CM has been saying for ages that the Mccanns want the PJ to come here to clear matters up, and then for the Gvt to slow things down?

Perhaps any B Gov Interference re the case has backfired greatly.
The PJ have now had the opportunity to present their evidence to
the Judge and that has persuaded him to decide to allow the Investigation
to continue. It has also allowed him to agree to the changing of the case
Status to one of “Complexity” which in turn has permitted Portugal to apply
to EuroJust for the case to be accepted by them.
Seems any Interference has aided the PJ to be able to extend the Arguido
Status for at least 3 more months and also to have the Power of EuroJust
giving extra assistance regarding the Judicial, Political and Bureaucratic
matters which may be affecting the PJ’s ability to expedite this case.
All very bad news for the McCann’s.

307 Peter O Says:
“My point was that if/when these letters are sent, if they are ever sent, then it would end the rumour mill if they announced that they had done so in a manner that is not open to interpretation .”
But you also said:
“Then those of us in the UK with an interest in this case could ask pertinent questions of MP’s etc. It would also make it pretty damn difficult for the UK media to ignore that particular piece of news.”
I agree with your analysis, but what effect would that have, if any, in your opinion? And why should that effect be desirable for the portugese autorities?

Not that I agree with them at all, but I understood the monitor was suppiled by Mark Warner
as was the baby listener person. Monitor must be designed for the distance or the company would ne at fault.
Just pointing out that the PJ can’t have it all ways!
I personall don’t believe for a moment that the children were all in together……

Yes Stevo - it was picked up and commented on a couple of days ago. Also that they were going to set up a fund a la Madeleine.

They’re highly selective with who they choose to offer their condolences to as it is.
As you say, it would be like Huntley writing to those parents. Sick beyond belief.
Why don’t the McCanns just shut up and say nothing…keep a low profile etc?

If they have been required to apologise, Peter O - no-one has found this claim on the Mirror site yet. There is only the piece on a French site which has been translated. It may not be accurate.
………………………..
I sorta scanned the French bit then clicked the first of the hyperlinks and it took me to a single paragraph on the Mirror site. I am getting old, can’t quite recall what it said or if it was a full apology. Can soeone who has the French link check it please

Been out most of the week but I liked the tale of two fathers…
Juan José Cortés, the father of the five-year old child, admitted he “has a suspect in mind” but expressed his hope of having news about his daughter soon. “The police are working on a specific clue”, he said. Speaking at an improvised Press Conference, he told also that “all of the closest family members can be considered suspects, including myself.”
Notice how it’s not “ludicrous” for the father of that missing girl to include himself as a suspect.

“However, all the rumours re these damn letters could be ended in an instant if someone like Mr Rebello, or the prosecutor, or someone who clearly has the authority to speak about this investigation would only stand up on live television and say that the letters had been sent. Then those of us in the UK with an interest in this case could ask pertinent questions of MP’s etc. It would also make it pretty damn difficult for the UK media to ignore that particular piece of news.”
It has taken them four month to send those letters, so obviously they are not in a hurry. Why should they now have changed their mind and want to speed up things?
++++++++++++
Where did I say they wanted to speed things up ?
You have no idea how long they’ve taken to send these letters. The only thing any of us have to go on is rumours in the media.
My point was that if/when these letters are sent, if they are ever sent, then it would end the rumour mill if they announced that they had done so in a manner that is not open to interpretation .

Bearing in mind I’ve already read the Mirror this morning, I found this … on the Letters page.
For the Record
Further to our article of October 29, we are happy to make clear that whilst the contrary impression was given by the comments of the Portuguese Ambassador to the Times on October 27 we can confirm that the Ambassador Antonio Santana Carlos did not, and has not, said that the Madeleine McCann case has seriously damaged relations between Portugal and this country.
