I’ve just noticed that Kate took Anglican communion. I know people have mentioned it before - but I thought the McCanns were just sitting through the service.
That’s really weird when they’re in a Catholic country and they could go to a (sorry - from a devout point of view) proper mass.

DCB - i’m a bit uncomfortable disagreeing with someone on one of my first posts - but a doctors licence to practice has nothing to do with employment law. It is granted by the GMC and he/she has to have one to become employed.
If the McCanns had been arrested (but not charged) in the U.K. for involvement in their daughters dissapearance then I suspect that the GMC may have suspended their licence to practice on a temporary basis until the outcome of the investigation is known.
I think that the ‘aguido’ status is confusing issues - as a witness can ask for it to be applied as well as the police. Also as far as I am aware they are aguido’s but no crime has been specified thus far.
I could understand that the hospital trust and the GMC could ask Gerry to have no patient contact - which would give them some protection if he were later charged, even though it involves no direct action on their part. However I read somewhere that when he returned after Christmas he would be seeing patients, and I can not see the GMC or the Hospital Trust being comfortable with this decision, but perhaps they do not want the publicity that would come with them temporarily ‘altering’ his licence.
The McCanns connections may be playing a part in this scenario, but I wonder what a patient may think when faced with him as their doctor? Are the patients given a choice? Will we see them selling their stories to the press? Is there a potential lawsuit against the trust for additional anxiety caused? They have been referred to a cardiologist and so must be anxious already.

Seriously, what would the scope of any GMC investigation/hearing be?
Are they to make a determination as to whether any crime has been committed by either or both of the Doctors McCann - hard to see how they are going to beat the PJ to that punch.
Similarly, any allegation of dishonesty would need to based on knowing (and been able to prove) what the true facts are - another tall order.
No, the GMC will not be able to get out of the starting gates
