Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Message And McCann Posters For Mari Cortes Luz
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: “I feel your pain – Kate’s note to kidnap parents”
Kate McCann has delivered a “heartfelt message of support” to the parents of missing girl Mari Luz Cortes
Writes Kate, a “GP”: “I feel your pain, as parents we know what you’re going through…I am praying that Mari Luz is found quickly, safe and well”
Not that it’s all about the McCanns, a Maddy 2. Although: Says Juan Jose Cortes, Mari’s father: “Only now I understand what Madeleine McCann’s parents are suffering”
Neither Mr Cortes nor his wife are named suspects in their child’s disappearance
The McCanns have offered to equip posters of Madeleine with a shot of Mari – 12,000 of them are to be put up in Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands
Mr Cortes says thank you but “We don’t feels strong enough to make a decision”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “The posters could lead to vital clues in both cases. Mari Luz’s face would sit along Madeleine’s… We just want to help”
Help who?
DAILY STAR: “’I KNOW THE PAIN YOU ARE FEELING’”
“Madeleine McCann’s mum has told the parents of a child feared snatched by the same abductor: ‘I feel your pain.’ GP Kate, 39, sent her words of comfort to the parents of five-year-old Mari Luz Cortes when the McCanns’ private detectives met them to investigate links between the two cases”
How did the papers come to know of this message, and how can knowing help either child?
“POLICE reject claims of link” – Portuguese police do not “believe” there is a link between Mari and Madeleine
Kate McCann is a “GP”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns comfort lost girl’s parents”
Kate McCann has sent an “emotional message” to the parents of Mari Luz Cortes
THE McCanns will have to wait until September this year to discover why they were made suspects
THE MIRROR: “KATE’S PRAYER OF HOPE”
“I FEEL YOUR PAIN – Kate’s message to parents of missing Spanish girl Mari”
Reports are that police are seeking a “local sex pest” in Huelva
“70,000..the number of kids under 16 that go missing in the UK every year. Only 10 per cent vanish for more than five days”
Any more room on those posters? How are they remembered?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns tell lost girl’s parents: We feel for you”
Says a friend of Mari’s parents, Irene a
nd Juan Jose Cortes: “They have been touched by the fact someone who is going through her own turmoil can find the strength to think of their moment of need”

Exactly. I lost the point in there too.
But seriously…in cases of lightning, it’s normal to come inside and not be outside in an exposed area. My outdoor community pool here closes during a storm. Golfers come in off the course etc.
What was your point HHS?

Anyone who leaves three children, all under 4, alone and go out to socialise
at a distance….are acting well beyond all risk scenarios.

Don’t think that would be possible. The fund is only for the search for Madeleine,
as clearly stated.

They only have the one resident quoted as saying that he thought the PJ was lax, as the beach was not crowded with policemen on Saturday, plus the general statement of ‘what the community of resort guests thought’ put out by the UK paper it was written in. I wouldn’t take it as proof that the PJ didn’t do a proper job.

It’s fair to go about a normal day to day routine and not use the word risk. Normal health and safety rules in society take care of making the world we live in safe without having to calculate risk. If we had to calculate risk every time we did something “normal” it would be ridiculous.
The lightning example you mentioned is similar to death by other extremely rare events that nobody would normally sit and evaluate before doing an activity. Look at life insurance rules. Everything is normally covered except for high risk activities. Your car isn’t typically covered for theft if you deliberately leave it with keys in and unlocked etc. is it?
To use the word “risk” in the first place implies there’s an element of danger to start with. I doubt anyone calculated the risk of walking down a street and being swallowed up by the pavement after a rare sinkhole suddenly appeared under it.
The McCanns for all their mathematical prowess, did not actually do the risk calculation properly did they? The only math I see is 5 minus 1 = 4.

Isn’t it time for you to go fishing again?
What evidence? You mean all that juicy stuff currently residing in the PJ’s files that Team McCann is so desperate to have sight of so that they can start manufacturing their next set of entirely innocent explanations? In my opinion of course.

I’ve never said it was okay to leave those children alone. It was dumb, it was even dumber because they are supposedly intelligent people. It was neglect and they are culpable……
I just really don’t think they did anything to Madeleine. I’ve looeked at this for months and I still go back to ’spotted, stalked, snatched’. Only my view obviously!!
Can’t debate anymore… kitten has just tipped a cup of coffee into my quite new laser printer so I have to remove myself from the situation to avoid practicing kittenicide.

Stevo,
Let us test the risk theory.
A child locally (about 4) was hit by lightning and kill a few years back playing outside - it was not raining, but there were heavy clouds (this happened). She was in her garden, which is about half way up a small hill.
Everyone knows that, if outside in such conditions, there is a slight chance of been hit by lightning, slightly higher if in an exposed elevated position, but still slight.
Was the mother wrong not bringing the child in in order to bring her risk down to the base line - are all parents who don’t get their children inside when there are heavy clounds reckless?

Has anyone any idea why the Daily Mail is saying it will be September before the McCanns
will know why they are suspects………doesn”t appear the PJ feels confident enough to charge
them in the near future does it!!!!! Questioning the Tapas 9 will not prove anything because
no one will be able to remember what they said, so even if their Statments do not tally I think
they will use the delay in questioning them to their advantage.

I agree for the most part about the re-questioning. I think they should go with the original statements. However, if Tanner could NOT have seen an abductor, and O’Brian crossed paths with the abductor and now wants to change his story to say that he indeed saw him … that would be a MAJOR change in testimony, which I believe can not be explained by little mix ups.

Thanks for the link. The part of the article I thought was most pertinent was this:
QUOTE
One Algarve officer, who would not be named, said that in Portugal parents who leave their children alone, locked inside home, could be subject to investigation by a child protection agency. Depending on the circumstances, the children could be removed from the home, he said.
In the UK the law is not clear about the circumstances in which people could be punished for leaving young children alone. It does state that parents can be prosecuted for wilful neglect if they leave a child unsupervised ‘in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health’.
‘We sympathise with parents and know they need time to themselves but babies and toddlers should not be left alone even for a few minutes,’ said Christopher Cloke, head of child protection awareness at the NSPCC. However, he added that prosecutions would generally happen only if children were left alone persistently.
The issue of whether it is ever safe to leave children for a short period in this way is sure to strike a chord with many parents. Few will fail to empathise as they see the pained faces of Kate and Gerry begging for the return of their ‘beautiful’ daughter.
