Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Message And McCann Posters For Mari Cortes Luz
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: “I feel your pain – Kate’s note to kidnap parents”
Kate McCann has delivered a “heartfelt message of support” to the parents of missing girl Mari Luz Cortes
Writes Kate, a “GP”: “I feel your pain, as parents we know what you’re going through…I am praying that Mari Luz is found quickly, safe and well”
Not that it’s all about the McCanns, a Maddy 2. Although: Says Juan Jose Cortes, Mari’s father: “Only now I understand what Madeleine McCann’s parents are suffering”
Neither Mr Cortes nor his wife are named suspects in their child’s disappearance
The McCanns have offered to equip posters of Madeleine with a shot of Mari – 12,000 of them are to be put up in Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands
Mr Cortes says thank you but “We don’t feels strong enough to make a decision”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “The posters could lead to vital clues in both cases. Mari Luz’s face would sit along Madeleine’s… We just want to help”
Help who?
DAILY STAR: “’I KNOW THE PAIN YOU ARE FEELING’”
“Madeleine McCann’s mum has told the parents of a child feared snatched by the same abductor: ‘I feel your pain.’ GP Kate, 39, sent her words of comfort to the parents of five-year-old Mari Luz Cortes when the McCanns’ private detectives met them to investigate links between the two cases”
How did the papers come to know of this message, and how can knowing help either child?
“POLICE reject claims of link” – Portuguese police do not “believe” there is a link between Mari and Madeleine
Kate McCann is a “GP”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns comfort lost girl’s parents”
Kate McCann has sent an “emotional message” to the parents of Mari Luz Cortes
THE McCanns will have to wait until September this year to discover why they were made suspects
THE MIRROR: “KATE’S PRAYER OF HOPE”
“I FEEL YOUR PAIN – Kate’s message to parents of missing Spanish girl Mari”
Reports are that police are seeking a “local sex pest” in Huelva
“70,000..the number of kids under 16 that go missing in the UK every year. Only 10 per cent vanish for more than five days”
Any more room on those posters? How are they remembered?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns tell lost girl’s parents: We feel for you”
Says a friend of Mari’s parents, Irene a
nd Juan Jose Cortes: “They have been touched by the fact someone who is going through her own turmoil can find the strength to think of their moment of need”

Ferdinand - IF we agree that the McC’s judged the risk to be minimal if they checked on the children regularly how do you explain this?
It was posted earlier -

from the panorama programme - sorry if it has been posted before.
‘kate came to check on the children at 10pm, when she closed the bedroom door a gust of wind caught it and she realised that something was wrong.’ or something like that - clsoing the bedroom door - before seeing that madeleine was missing?
around the 2minutes ten mark

So did their risk assessment include not actually looking/seeing the kids whilst performing their responsible parenting checks?

catkidd,
that’s alright.
but do think your typo (you know who) might have had a role? logistics can make or break a plan… (i’m being cryptic because i’m thinking something but haven’t

pray for rain;no mother can part with her child, dead or alive it makes more sense to me that the child was already dead, from whatever cause, and it was the taking of her body that caused kate to choose her words.peado not an automatic response or logical one

Part time GP 2 days a week 6 dead bodies ? = 3 dead bodies a day
Doctor working 6 days a week = 18 dead bodies
10 doctors in a practise 18 x 10 = 180 dead bodies a week
180 x 52 = dead bodies a year = 9360
So a village practise could prevent the villagers ever having health problems again within a year….food for thought

Statistical semantics is not my strongpoint, but I think I kind of understand how distributions work.
One of the most misunderstood phrases you’re ever likely to encounter is In the long run . The simplest demonstration of this is to toss a coin ten times. If you do, how often do you think you’ll get head or tails? Most of us will answer 50/50, 50%, 5 times or some other variation of pretty much the same answer.
Even if per chance you did get a 50/50 split between heads and tails, would you always get 50/50 if you repeated the same experiment say ten times? Toss the coin ten times, times ten times that is, giving 100 tosses in all. What you will find is that sometimes you do get 50/50, quite often you don’t though. Does that mean therefore that there isn’t a 50/50 chance of getting say heads on ant toss of the coin? Not at all.
In fact, the more you toss the coin and record the results, the nearer you’ll get to the 50/50 ratio. In the long run of repeated tossing of the coin you will be able to prove that you do indeed have a 50/50 chance of getting say heads. What it won’t tell you is whether on any random ten tosses of the coin you are likely to get a 50/50 split of heads and tails, you might, it just can’t be guaranteed.
And thus, Kate’s alleged contact with six dead bodies can be explained as all of the deaths for any given extended period of time that a doctor may come into contact with as having arrived all at once. Ergo, the rest of us should be safe to see Dr Kate because she probably not statistically likely to encounter another corpse for several millennia. (Sorry, I don’t actually know how many dead bodies a GP is likely to come into contact with per very hour/day worked, but hopefully upi kind of get my drift!)
See, everything does have an entirely innocent explanation!
Must be time for another glass of wine!

“Risk is when you do things that are outside the norm and involve a degree or possibility of danger.”
The norm would be by definition what the majority of people usually do. But this is just another way to say what I said: It’s a matter of perception. If it’s the norm, then it’s perceived acceptable.
The point where we disagree seems to be that it seems to be a valid argument for you that “it’s acceptable because the majority thinks so”.

pray for rain not a very rational thing to say at the start,if the child was missing a while it might make sense.face it that statement is what had people believe it was a peado
—————–
catkidd,
said, as it was, at the start leads anyone within earshot to ask the question ‘WHO took her?’ not to mention ‘who is Her?’ if there had been PROOF of a break-in and a ransom note had appeared, then one could reasonably say the child had been kidnapped. but to say ‘They’ve taken her’ in the context of a paedophilic (word?) abduction implies that either Kate or whoever she was meant to be addressing had knowledge of the identity of ‘They’. so they cook up this lurking paedo story but the script says plainly that the mother and father at least were aware of the identity of the paedo. it was just poorly scripted……………..
(a bit of merry go round, i know, but i hope you follow.)

logic its simple really they cant tell me whats causing it and they cant say it wont happen new one so i reckon it would be selfish to take it and maybe take any hope someone else might have.

_______________
The best one was a flight from Chicago to Tampa on a 727. I was on the back row and off to a fly in a show near Orlando. I had a pilot friend with me in the row in front of me. As we neared touchdown in Tampa, a 10 foot section of hose came detached under the wing. It was flaying around like crazy in the slipstream. I said to my friend “hey look at that hydraulic pipe come loose…” The bloke next to me nearly had a heart attack! After landing I pointed it out to the crew and it caused a chuckle when they said “darn fuel pipe coming loose AGAIN!”
You really don’t want to know about the bits that come loose, fly off or go wrong in a typical flight.

Ferdi: “But nobody would ever say that parents who travel with their children endanger them in an unacceptable manner. How comes?”
Stevo: “Absolute nonsense! Travelling by public transport is a common, normal, and everyday occurrence. This is what I meant by “normal” and using public transport is about as normal as you can get. This is a good example of how not to do an analogy.”
You haven’t answered my question. Of course it is deemed “normal”, and therefore accepted. But in terms of risk calculation, it’s at least as irresponsible as the McC baby listening.

What complete and utter tosh!
The plain simple fact is there is no similarity between a parent or carer taking a deliberate decision to leave three children under the age of four alone in an apartment, and deciding to go about your normal day to day business, crossing road, taking busses, going on holidays etc.

Too right. I flew in one of the first 777’s delivered to United Airlines a month after it went in service. We were manouvering around Washington DC and the pilot got a call from the DC controller “United 777…set a waypoint for..xyz” Minutes later, the controller asked again and said “how’s that waypoint coming along?” The captain replied “erm….the computer is saying ‘invalid entry’.” True story and after getting off the plane I asked the captain about that and he said he was old school and didn’t really understand these computerised planes!
