Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Hairdresser, A Suspect Look And Amaral
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “MADDY’S KIDNAPPER – Beast who took McCann’s little girl”
A “WORLD EXCLUSIVE”
The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?
SUNDAY MIRROR: “THE MAN WHO RAN OFF WITH MADDY?
EXCLUSIVE Hunt for Madeleine: Day 262 First image of suspect”
Or the second image…
“This is the face of a stalker now believed to have snatched Madeleine McCann. The image is a former FBI artist’s impression based on a detailed description given by a key British witness. It clearly reveals the features of a moustachioed man - who was carrying a little girl in pink pyjamas, believed to be four-year-old Maddie”
It’s a photofit, an artist’s impression. Like this FBI picture of Madeleine
The original photofit issued by Portuguese police showed only a round egg-shaped head and blank face and was widely criticised as being useless. The Sun had an eFit. Jane Tanner’s efit had hair and a jacket
The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”
EXCLUSIVE – Picture of man who gave woman the CREEPS!
“262 DAYS MISSING AND.. MADDY’S BLUNDER COP BACK ON CASE – “Lazy Goncalo Amaral - fired from the investigation after the Sunday Mirror exposed his long, boozy lunches - has held a string of meetings with new chief detective Paulo Rebelo”
The Mirror is on the case. It got Amaral. It got “creepy” Robert Murat. But now Amaral is back. Says the paper: “The move will be a massive blow to parents Kate and Gerry.” It will be “heartbreaking for 39-year-old doctors Kate and Gerry”. Why? Was Amaral the casue of their problem?
DAILY STAR: “SPANISH COPS SHOW UP MADDIE FLAWS”
The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “McCANNS SPLIT BY AGONY OF MADDY”
“The lives of Kate and Gerry McCann are moving in “opposite directions” because they have developed strikingly different ways of coping with the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine”
We are watching the parents
“Kate is living the life of a semi-recluse as she focuses on being a stay-at-home mother, virtually shutting herself off from the supportive community around her. Gerry, meanwhile, has thrown himself into working full time as a heart specialist during the week, while running the campaign to find four-year-old Madeleine in the evenings and at weekends”
And Kate McCann: “Kate has abandoned the village routine she once shared with Madeleine. She no longer has her hair styled at Dawn Newcombe’s salon, which she regularly visited with Madeleine. Her mother normally takes the twins for haircuts when she is staying”
One of the stylists says: “She was almost in tears as she watched them and my heart went out to her.”
Such is the news in the search for Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY INDEPENDENT: “Maddy’s off the front page”
“Followers of the Madeleine McCann story have been able to depend on the ‘Evening Standard’ to clear the front page for any development. So how come a potential breakthrough, with police looking into the disappearance of another little girl near Praia da Luz, was buried on page 17? The answer is: sales fell by 10,000 the last two times Maddy made the cover, so the news desk have been told to curb their Maddy enthusiasm. If only they’d tell the ‘Express’ to do likewise”

Sometimes,I think as the show goes on and how it goes on,that,no,we will never know the truth.
Yes.I rembember the “find the body and…..”.It sounds like it comes out of the mouth a serial killer.I am disgusted.Macabre people…..hopefully,they will never be cleared for the next 20 even if there are no charges against them.I do wish they would be charge for GROSS child neglect and stop being so arrogants and disappear from my mind and the surface of earth.
(I must be careful what im saying as i apparently had a warning earlier on….dont know why tho”)

As I said, I think the McCanns are guilty, but like you the longer this drags on the more
likely the case will be dropped through lack of evidence or interference by you know who.
It”s always one Law for the rich or in this case , influential friends, and one for Joe Bloggs.
Like the recent case of the Policeman who was let out on bail after murdering his wife and
went on to kill his mother-in law and himself.
Perhaps we will never know what happened to Madeleine, shame on all those who try to pervert the course of justice.

The only way they can be proved innocent is…well, they cant actually.
If they didnt neglect their children, then she couldnt have been taken. If they did, then maybe, but not likely.

….otherwise CM wouldn’t give a press conference on that issue, and posters wouldn’t have been prepared….
===================
I very much doubt that the Fund’s lawyers would agree to them printing one million posters; it would bankrupt the Fund.
It will, however, be somewhat embarassing when Clarrie has to admit that he got a little carried away…

Bankrupt the Limited Company colloquially known as “The Fund”, sadly not.
http://www.print24.co.uk will print 100,000 A4 single sided full colour on 115 GSM glossy paper for £2,105.48. Delivery by Wed 31/01/2008. The price rises to £5,528.74 for overnight delivery. Ten times that amount is but one month of M3’s time.
————————————————-
I had in mind something a little larger than a sheet of A4 paper, something more the size of, well, a poster.
But the cost of the posters is probably the smallest part of the costs.
Add to that the costs of distributing it throughout the whole of Iberia and Morrocco, not known for its extensive transport links in inaccessible places, and the moneyreally starts to flow…
January 20th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Has it actually been established beyond doubt that Tanner was even out and about at the time the bloke was apparently carrying a motionless child? I thought that it was her partner who was missing from the taparse (whoops mis spelt) for over half an hour cleaning up the sick from their child. If Tanner was “rushng” back to the apartment to tend to a sick child, I doubt she would have stopped to look around for “Jason King” lookalikes (Blimey that ages me). Personally and in my opinion - I dont think any of the buggers left that bar when they say they did - it is all so very very conveniently inconsistant
January 20th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
976 dcb ?
How can they be proved innocent anyway, they neglected to protect their child and she was abducted, they tell us. Guilty of not looking after their child adequately.
Or…
They didnt look after their child properly, they went out drinking and she awoke. Afraid to look for them (they had trained her to stay where she was) she played in the apartment, fell off the sofa…
Guilty of neglect and more….
So how is the scenario Val is presenting possible?
January 20th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Another sham and complete waste of money. Why havent the McCanns invested in an up to date image of what Madeleine would look like now, aged 4 3/4 … But when it comes to Madeleine they do seem to dally. It took them 6 months before they released Tanner’s description of bundleman mark 1. Surely this was the most crucial piece of evidence in their posession in trying to find thier missing daughter. even then it was Metodo 3 who comissioned it. This is yet another diversionary tactic , to aid their defence and shore up the now empty coffers of the Madeleine Fund.

Like you I find it hard to believe the McCanns are guilty, but when I think of the speed of their departure from Portugal when they were declared Aguidos and hiring top Lawyers
when they havn”t been charged I believe they are involved and as the PJ conclude, that
Madeleine was killed accidentally.
I was recently on a flight to Italy and got chatting to the lady sitting next to me. It turned
out she had met Gerry McCann at various Conferences, thought he was highly regarded in
his field and very friendly. Not for one minute did she believe the McCanns guilty but when
I ponted out the above she went quiet and had no answer. I think all the anti McCanns here
will feel shamefaced if they are proved innocent.

proved innocent yeah right…..do you mean when the case is dropped through political pressure or they get off on a technicality because of some smart arsed lawyer… the mcconns will never be “proved” innocent because they are not innocent
