Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Hairdresser, A Suspect Look And Amaral
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “MADDY’S KIDNAPPER – Beast who took McCann’s little girl”
A “WORLD EXCLUSIVE”
The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?
SUNDAY MIRROR: “THE MAN WHO RAN OFF WITH MADDY?
EXCLUSIVE Hunt for Madeleine: Day 262 First image of suspect”
Or the second image…
“This is the face of a stalker now believed to have snatched Madeleine McCann. The image is a former FBI artist’s impression based on a detailed description given by a key British witness. It clearly reveals the features of a moustachioed man - who was carrying a little girl in pink pyjamas, believed to be four-year-old Maddie”
It’s a photofit, an artist’s impression. Like this FBI picture of Madeleine
The original photofit issued by Portuguese police showed only a round egg-shaped head and blank face and was widely criticised as being useless. The Sun had an eFit. Jane Tanner’s efit had hair and a jacket
The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”
EXCLUSIVE – Picture of man who gave woman the CREEPS!
“262 DAYS MISSING AND.. MADDY’S BLUNDER COP BACK ON CASE – “Lazy Goncalo Amaral - fired from the investigation after the Sunday Mirror exposed his long, boozy lunches - has held a string of meetings with new chief detective Paulo Rebelo”
The Mirror is on the case. It got Amaral. It got “creepy” Robert Murat. But now Amaral is back. Says the paper: “The move will be a massive blow to parents Kate and Gerry.” It will be “heartbreaking for 39-year-old doctors Kate and Gerry”. Why? Was Amaral the casue of their problem?
DAILY STAR: “SPANISH COPS SHOW UP MADDIE FLAWS”
The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “McCANNS SPLIT BY AGONY OF MADDY”
“The lives of Kate and Gerry McCann are moving in “opposite directions” because they have developed strikingly different ways of coping with the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine”
We are watching the parents
“Kate is living the life of a semi-recluse as she focuses on being a stay-at-home mother, virtually shutting herself off from the supportive community around her. Gerry, meanwhile, has thrown himself into working full time as a heart specialist during the week, while running the campaign to find four-year-old Madeleine in the evenings and at weekends”
And Kate McCann: “Kate has abandoned the village routine she once shared with Madeleine. She no longer has her hair styled at Dawn Newcombe’s salon, which she regularly visited with Madeleine. Her mother normally takes the twins for haircuts when she is staying”
One of the stylists says: “She was almost in tears as she watched them and my heart went out to her.”
Such is the news in the search for Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY INDEPENDENT: “Maddy’s off the front page”
“Followers of the Madeleine McCann story have been able to depend on the ‘Evening Standard’ to clear the front page for any development. So how come a potential breakthrough, with police looking into the disappearance of another little girl near Praia da Luz, was buried on page 17? The answer is: sales fell by 10,000 the last two times Maddy made the cover, so the news desk have been told to curb their Maddy enthusiasm. If only they’d tell the ‘Express’ to do likewise”

They have no sense of ridicule with all the fuss they made for Mari.In fact, here,in spain,NOBODY has been fooled. They “send their support and letters” to the Cortes family becuase it only serves once more their purpose.Fantastic timing! but EVEN metodo3 AND the spanish cops inmmediately said the 2 cases were nit related by any means…whack! 2 days later, after a “noisy” silence some git comes up: oh dear,i have recovered my memory and here the man who took madeleine….POR DIOS!!!!!!

I very much doubt that the Fund’s lawyers would agree to them printing one million posters; it would bankrupt the Fund.
It will, however, be somewhat embarassing when Clarrie has to admit that he got a little carried away…
+++++++++++++++++
Bankrupt the Limited Company colloquially known as “The Fund”, sadly not.
http://www.print24.co.uk will print 100,000 A4 single sided full colour on 115 GSM glossy paper for £2,105.48. Delivery by Wed 31/01/2008. The price rises to £5,528.74 for overnight delivery. Ten times that amount is but one month of M3’s time.
————————————————-
I had in mind something a little larger than a sheet of A4 paper, something more the size of, well, a poster.
But the cost of the posters is probably the smallest part of the costs.
Add to that the costs of distributing it throughout the whole of Iberia and Morrocco, not known for its extensive transport links in inaccessible places, and the moneyreally starts to flow…
++++++++++++++
£165K for 1,000,000 A1 Full Colour…. But yeah. I take your point about distribution costs. You’d think M3 would be able to deliver whilst conducting their enquiries in the wilds of Morocco?
——————————————————–
No. They don’t have anything like the man power to distribute so many, particularly that far out. My view is that it’s definitely just another PR spin.
And I really must get that sleep so I’ll say goodnight, again!

I don’t regret anything I’ve written here and will not, even if it is proven that there was an abduction that the McCanns had nothing to do with. It all comes down to what a person has posted and I’ve never written anything but that I suspected they know more about what happened to Madeleine than they are telling the PJ and the public and are being dishonest. I also believe the PJ are not the incompetent buffoons or corrupt police force that McCann supporters would like us to believe they are.
The McCanns have behaved as if they are more important than the average Joe and have displayed ugly tendencies which most of us here find repulsive.
They have reaped the whirlwind they have sown. They blame others when their own supposed, admitted lack of care for their children put Madeleine in jeopardy and was the root cause of her disappearance, if indeed she was abducted, or if there was an accident that they subsequently covered up. Yet they and their ‘team’ are quick to point fingers elsewhere condemning others for not doing enough to find their daughter, when more has been done to find this little girl than any other missing child in the history of the planet.
But the bottom line is, I trust the PJ. If they have evidence that points to Madeleine’s death before the claim of abduction was made, as they have publicly stated, then I think there will never be a day where any anti-McCann will have to hang his head in shame. I’m not a betting woman, but if I were, I would bet on that. There may never be a formal arrest or charge or a final conclusion to the mystery of Madeleine McCann, but I am almost certain there will never be definitive evidence that will clear the McCanns.

The Public Spanish Television (TVE, Televisión Española) is broadcasting the image of the “new suspect” (George Harrison 2nd version) as if it was something official. They say (Sunday news at 3.00 pm): “According the couple McCann spokeman, a new witness has given new clues to the case. This is the image of the new suspect, a morrocan or argelian man… bla bla bla…”
Never before, the Spanish public television had given news about the case based “on the McCann spokeman”. They ignore the PJ… They seem to know nothing about the case development! God help us!!!!
