The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?

The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”

The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects

“A father confronted a man lurking outside the McCanns’ holiday apartment just days before Madeleine vanished, it was revealed yesterday.
British holiday-maker Paul Gordon told police he spotted the man outside the two-bedroom flat’s patio doors while his own two children were sleeping inside.

Mr Gordon, 34, contacted British police about his suspicions in May, as soon as he heard that Madeleine had gone missing. He and his family stayed in the apartment immediately before the McCanns.
He told how he confronted the man when he saw him outside the glass patio doors, which are at the back of the apartment, away from the front door and concealed from the main road by a high hedge.
The man claimed to be collecting money for an orphanage in the mountains and Mr Gordon told detectives he left him alone near the doors while he went to find money to give him.

Sitting in my home in London I could hear the roars of laughter from the P.J when they saw a “BEATLE” splashed on the front pages of our press.
Medildo 3 have mounted a round the clock surviellence on the sea waiting for the emergence of a yellow submarine with a pink blob on it.
The “FACELESS” beast who Jane Scammer saw, has now been confirmed by her as the man she saw on May 3rd.
She remembers the likeness of this man as that resembling the picture put on the front pages. She has obviously sobered up or EVEN been back on the bottle again.
Of course, we are all taking her seriously, ARE’NT WE?
Another witness, a Mrs Cooper is an extraordinary woman, knowing he was’nt Portuguese but North African, either Tunisian or Moroccan.
She says that in her job as a health care co-ordinator her job is to assess people and make a judgement. YES Mrs Cooper, but your supposed to be sober to do this.
I read in the Sunday Express, “Pair struggle with strain of losing MONEY…..Ooops sorry it actually said Maddie”. Now what made me make a mistake like that? Silly me.

But Garth my dear, you are right. It is not for a fool like me to stick my nose in this business. That is what investigative journalists are for. Where are they? is really all I am asking.
They are amassing. I feel they are gathering information so vast and complex. I do not think it will be a Watergate breakthrough with one or two journalists alone. This is a collective investigation with many journalist gathering. What profession do you think many posters follow? They might not all comment but a lot are lurking. Absorbing, tying together, and the thing is when it goes down, the spin team will be spinning on the ground in the dust.

Long pause then until the penny dropped and he realised that this could be misconstrued.

On the Mail forum yesterday, someone mentioned how someone had found some sheets shoved in the seat of the train and which several other commuters had found as well entitled “What the British Press does not want you to know about the McCanns”. And there are several articles printed.
I personally have found such brilliant stuff written about this case by so many people.
Imagine if every day you print out some of your favourite blogs, or comments or questions and leave it in various places, trains, libraries, coffee shops. etc. Passive vigilantism.
And despite being in glorious sunshine as opposed to torrential rain, a part of me would love to engage in activities like this.
Just think of the fun one could have.

I did not write the news articles, I just read them, and quoted from them. Did you read them? BTW one article called the Cooper’s residence an “apartment” and another called it a “villa”.
I will bet you a week’s wages that the Coopers own both an apartment and a villa in PDL.

Hi all,
Great to see you again in such fine form.
My neighbour, Peter Matchett of 82 years of age, died in his armchair of a heartattack with a glass of wine which he continued to hold till death.
Friends found him when he did not appear for breakfast.
How is that: 82 years old, is the most prolific joke teller (good one’s), never has said a bad word about anyone, still has friends, and they come and look for him after a very short absence.
What a fine way to go. RIP Peter.

“She [Gail Cooper] of course gave this information about the man and his activities to the police back in May.
“That information has been with the police since then, however, no sketch of the man has actually been commissioned or done until now.”
