Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Hairdresser, A Suspect Look And Amaral
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “MADDY’S KIDNAPPER – Beast who took McCann’s little girl”
A “WORLD EXCLUSIVE”
The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?
SUNDAY MIRROR: “THE MAN WHO RAN OFF WITH MADDY?
EXCLUSIVE Hunt for Madeleine: Day 262 First image of suspect”
Or the second image…
“This is the face of a stalker now believed to have snatched Madeleine McCann. The image is a former FBI artist’s impression based on a detailed description given by a key British witness. It clearly reveals the features of a moustachioed man - who was carrying a little girl in pink pyjamas, believed to be four-year-old Maddie”
It’s a photofit, an artist’s impression. Like this FBI picture of Madeleine
The original photofit issued by Portuguese police showed only a round egg-shaped head and blank face and was widely criticised as being useless. The Sun had an eFit. Jane Tanner’s efit had hair and a jacket
The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”
EXCLUSIVE – Picture of man who gave woman the CREEPS!
“262 DAYS MISSING AND.. MADDY’S BLUNDER COP BACK ON CASE – “Lazy Goncalo Amaral - fired from the investigation after the Sunday Mirror exposed his long, boozy lunches - has held a string of meetings with new chief detective Paulo Rebelo”
The Mirror is on the case. It got Amaral. It got “creepy” Robert Murat. But now Amaral is back. Says the paper: “The move will be a massive blow to parents Kate and Gerry.” It will be “heartbreaking for 39-year-old doctors Kate and Gerry”. Why? Was Amaral the casue of their problem?
DAILY STAR: “SPANISH COPS SHOW UP MADDIE FLAWS”
The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “McCANNS SPLIT BY AGONY OF MADDY”
“The lives of Kate and Gerry McCann are moving in “opposite directions” because they have developed strikingly different ways of coping with the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine”
We are watching the parents
“Kate is living the life of a semi-recluse as she focuses on being a stay-at-home mother, virtually shutting herself off from the supportive community around her. Gerry, meanwhile, has thrown himself into working full time as a heart specialist during the week, while running the campaign to find four-year-old Madeleine in the evenings and at weekends”
And Kate McCann: “Kate has abandoned the village routine she once shared with Madeleine. She no longer has her hair styled at Dawn Newcombe’s salon, which she regularly visited with Madeleine. Her mother normally takes the twins for haircuts when she is staying”
One of the stylists says: “She was almost in tears as she watched them and my heart went out to her.”
Such is the news in the search for Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY INDEPENDENT: “Maddy’s off the front page”
“Followers of the Madeleine McCann story have been able to depend on the ‘Evening Standard’ to clear the front page for any development. So how come a potential breakthrough, with police looking into the disappearance of another little girl near Praia da Luz, was buried on page 17? The answer is: sales fell by 10,000 the last two times Maddy made the cover, so the news desk have been told to curb their Maddy enthusiasm. If only they’d tell the ‘Express’ to do likewise”

I reckon it was a good move to remove Amaral….or keep him in reserve in my opinion. It was/is neede to be a bit more subtil about the whole case….and Amaral has a case against him.It was very clever to make that move, dont you think?

You MUST remember the context.
Think about this…they were rewarding her for not bothering them in their bedroom, it wasnt in her control to stop herself waking frightened and disorientated in the night.
Edit…
+++++++++++++
If I knew the context, beyond doubt, I’d comment upon it.
I was responding to the general point about the use of things like naughty steps and star charts. It’s how they are used that makes them appropriate/inappropriate.
We encourage our son not to disturb Mummy and Daddy in the mornings, though we don’t use a star/rewards system. We also equally encourage him, at least I hope we do, that if he should wake up at anytime during the night and need Mummy or Daddy that he can ALWAYS come and find us.

594 Cant say no….
Yes Goncalo Amaral was taken off the McCann case and replaced with Paulo Rebelo. This made the McCanns very happy as they saw this as a possible way out of being involved in any way with the disappearance of their daughter Maddie.
But after Paulo Rebelo continued with the investigation he began to realize that this so called boozy cop was in actual fact absolutely right with his prodictions of what probably happened, being that the McCanns *could be *responsible for their daughter’s disappearance and up to this time remains the prime theory in this investigation.
And I believe this theory will come to fruition.

Definitely a promise of one. Sledgehammer you have somewhat encouraged that question, so cool your anger, you could and should have stated that you do not defend child neglect very much sooner.

It does seem that there’s a distinctly musical tone to the latest charade, sorry, important breakthrough.
Not only do we have a George Harrison lookalike but also he has been remembered, walking in the sand.

Call up Callum who does the official Madeleine site. He’ll help you with wristbands and posters to raise funds. We can hold “Julie Balloon Events” and I can go visit the Pope to let him know. I’ll go to Morocco (same continent) and tell everyone of your intended presence at the Anorak Event.
———————————————–
Yeah now that could work! But I’d probably have to temporarily misplace a kid to get the funds rolling in first off. (I shall misplace him safely until after I’ve been to the bash and had a total Tapas style rip-up). He shall then be amazingly found with the kind assistance of M3 and Hogans

Oh, I love the latest Telegraph article:
‘The latest drawing has been passed onto to the Portuguese police who were first reluctant for the picture to be released to the media.
“They did not want this to go out,” said a source close to the investigation.
“But they have since seen it and decided that it was not a bad idea.”
I’ll bet they did.
The sheer joy of watching comical Clarrie trying to persuade the world that a George Harrison lookalike is an evil fiend is hard to match.
But the final destruction of Jane Tanner’s claim to have seen an alleged abductor must have weighed heavily in the balance.
After all, how could anyone who had seen a face like that have overlooked it? With or without a ‘cognitive technique’…
+++++++++++++++++
Well, possibly the sheer horror of the face forced her to suppress the memory until reminded by another unfortunate who saw the same face but whose mental wellbeing consists of sterner stuff! Mind you, on the basis it’s taken her eight months to discuss it, perhaps not.
PS For all the watching numpties. Yes I know it has been alleged that this person told the PJ ages ago and the PJ allegedly failed to act upon the information.

Because they used it to train her not to go in their room when she awoke at night!
Then they left her alone in a room in a foreign country, knowing she had learnt not to bother them in their room!
It would be why the bastards are so sure she didnt walk off - but of course, there was no abductor and no walking off.

I’m off for a bit (not spitting any dummy out Sledgie) but I heard a great joke….
An Englishman a Scotsman and Sledgehammer are standing in a bar.
The Englishman says: “My wife is so stupid. She’s just bought a car and she doesn’t drive.”
Jock says: “Think that’s bad? My wife has just paid for a swimming pool to be built in the back garden and she doesn’t swim.”
Sledgehammer thinks for a while (in between typing crap in Anorak): “I can beat that, my wife has just gone to Greece on holiday. She’s taken 50 condoms with her and she doesn’t even have a dick…”
