The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?

The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”

The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects

REPLY: Before we get too stuck on George Harrison and the Beatles, this new version of ‘Abductor’ IMO bears a striking resemblance also to lead singer and piano player Gary Brooker of the band Procol Harum, that shot to fame in 1967. Brooker’s moustache was almost identical to the latest version of ‘Abductor’.
I wondered indeed if it could be he? I must admit he didn’t look that ’swarthy’ in 1967, but if he retired to the Mediterranean and has been sunning himself and living on tapas, olives and tuna ever since, who knows?
It might be appropriate to call the new ‘Abductor’ ‘Procol Harum man’ - as I seem to recall that Kate and Gerry McCann turned ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ when arrested by the PJ

Sorry if this has been covered befor - I believe “Jo” touched on it earlier.
Both this new “George Harrison” drawing, and the earlier one from Jane Tanner’s recollection/imagination were drawn by the same person - Melissa Little.
This may explain why, at a push, you sould say they are the same person. Little was obviously aware of what she had already drawn, and didn’t draw anything whichc would have invalidated her earlier work. It could also be pointed out that, as any indiviual artist’s work can often look “samey”, a different artist should have been used.
However, I think we all consider it to be bollox, anyhow, if I’m not very much mistaken!!

Well, according to press reports etc, Amaral isn’t exactly KM’s number one fan. There was a leak in September to say that the PJ had offered KM a deal, a light sentence if she admits to accidental involvement in M’s death and hiding the body. I’m not saying the PJ might have abandoned the idea of M dying in the flat, only that they might now be thinking that the cause of death was nothing directly to do with the McCanns.
As I said yesterday, we know that the McCanns are suspects - but again I ask suspects for WHAT exactly?

Well, you cannot be sure that you know who this person is, or indeed, whether he even exists, but the police would be able to sort it out.
After all, they are the proper people to deal with such a matter.
