The paper says the witness, Gail Cooper, was staying with her family 600 yards from the McCann’s apartment in Praia da Luz.
She told the police of a “creepy man” in the area. A picture of the man has been produced
Gary Thompson, an associate editor at the News of the World, tells the BBC the picture was being taken seriously. Well, it on the front page. “The picture has been passed to Interpol, police in Portugal and also in Leicestershire, so the important thing is - who is he? Where is he now?” he asks.
“We’ll be urging all our readers in the morning to get in touch with the authorities if they’ve got any information at all about this man”
Is he the man who abducted Madeleine McCann? Or was Mrs Cooper listening to The Beatles at the time?

The original photofit issued by Portuguese police showed only a round egg-shaped head and blank face and was widely criticised as being useless. The Sun had an eFit. Jane Tanner’s efit had hair and a jacket
The man is “thought to be aged between 38 and 45. He has sallow skin, lank dark hair, large teeth and a distinctive droopy moustache. The suspect, who is said to have spoken in broken English, knocked on the door of Mrs [Sarah] Cooper’s apartment claiming to be collecting for charity. Mrs Cooper says: ‘He made my blood run cold - he gave me the creeps. My judgment is that this man was very suspicious and could have been the kidnapper’”

The Spanish police are looking for Mari Luis Cortes. Says the Star: “Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann say missing Madeleine might have been found by now – if Spanish police had been involved”
Maris Luis Cortes has yet to be found
Says a friend of McCanns of the Portuguese police: “They acted like real amateurs, so it’s no wonder they don’t seem to be getting anywhere finding Madeleine”
The Portuguese police also named the McCanns as suspects

One of the stylists says: “She was almost in tears as she watched them and my heart went out to her.”

Like you I find it hard to believe the McCanns are guilty, but when I think of the speed of their departure from Portugal when they were declared Aguidos and hiring top Lawyers
when they havn”t been charged I believe they are involved and as the PJ conclude, that
Madeleine was killed accidentally.
I was recently on a flight to Italy and got chatting to the lady sitting next to me. It turned
out she had met Gerry McCann at various Conferences, thought he was highly regarded in
his field and very friendly. Not for one minute did she believe the McCanns guilty but when
I ponted out the above she went quiet and had no answer. I think all the anti McCanns here
will feel shamefaced if they are proved innocent.

She’s just the next stage after the sisters in keeping Madeleine in the news, and has probably been paid a nice sum to “suddenly” remember the significance of what she thinks she saw.
However, the pure arrogance of Camp Mccann in dictating how the police should go forward in this case is even more disturbing.

‘A police artist drew two sketches of the man based on a statement given by a British holidaymaker who stayed in the same resort as the McCann family last year.
The olive-skinned man was seen acting suspiciously near the apartment complex in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz where Madeleine vanished in May last year. One of the new images bears a striking resemblance to an earlier drawing of a man seen carrying a child through the complex on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance.’
One would have thought that both sketches would have to bear a resemblance to the earlier drawing to justify any link.
Odd that the journos didn’t ask to see both sketches.
Even odder that no-one asked questions about why only one of the sketches resembled Bundleman.
And oddest of all that Tanner apparently didn’t notice the mexican bandit moustache…

Indeed.
Newspaper reports about false sightings might be easy to dismiss. A press conference of Mr. Mitchell is something different.
If “George Harrison” was just a deadbeat who was regulary asking tourists for a donation for a non existing orphanage, there would certainly be more tourists who remember him. I’d also expect that he would be known by locals. In other words, he would have long been identified and eliminated as a suspect.
One would further expect that the McCann detectives have made sure that he has so far not been identified by the police, otherwise CM wouldn’t give a press conference on that issue, and posters wouldn’t have been prepared.
Also expect that the M3 detectives know allready a bit more about this person than just what Mrs. Cooper has told us.
So the next days will be interesting.

On the 12,000 the parents of Mari declined and I don”t blame them. The McCanns were not
being generous, they probably thought the two photos would attract more attention because
I think Madeleine”s posters have reached saturation point now.
