“Last night she said there are “strong similarities” between the man she saw and the new sketch.
“Nanny Charlotte Pennington’s description of a person she saw with Mr Murat also matches the man shown in the artist’s impression”

What would happen if a spokesperson for two suspects in a UK missing persons case stood up on national television without the say so of the investigating officers and bandied about a sketch of someone they say may have been complicit in the case?

No legal knowledge but I would say it would depend on whether the spokesperson knew (at the time) if the sketch was founded on genuine belief or not. If it was an attempt to raise funds and it was known to be without genuine foundation then obtaining money by deception would probably be written on the charge sheet.

In UK at this stage they would probably just classed as “helping police with their inquiries” - so I imagine nothing would happen apart from the Police being very annoyed - as are PJ.

SC46. Essex is good; however, the white stiletto/ford cortina/dancing around the handbag jokes do get a bit wearing after sooooo many years.
As an author I get interviewed and there is always some smart ass joke / comment and I have to pretend to be amused!!!

When that plane crashed I was listening to the radio and they were interviewing the editor of the The Sun. He was saying how newspapers like a hero. They asked him a few questions about the crash and the gist of his reply was that they were being told things, but that they always were. Their job was to check up on what they were being told before publishing.
Oh yeah - The Sun?
Anyway, sure enough they got the hero wrong too!
