Amanda Mills, 34, from Basildon, Essex, claimed to have spotted a man trying to break into a bedroom window at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz a week before Madeleine disappeared from the complex.
“Last night she said there are “strong similarities” between the man she saw and the new sketch.
“Nanny Charlotte Pennington’s description of a person she saw with Mr Murat also matches the man shown in the artist’s impression”

Quite so.
I suspect that there has been a great deal of biting of the tongue in the constabulary.
Wonder what happens if they are called out about children being left by themselves?
I suppose people could just leave a note pinned to the front door saying that they had been advised that it was well within the boundaries of responsible parenting…

i actually posted this same thing in a much more simplified form some months ago, when i was trying to find what connected the tapas.
this is when i came to the conclusion that it was a medical experiment gone wrong, and that the doctors were a committee involved with it all.
but people just took the piss.
to me, a medical explanation is the only one that would connect them, and also explain why they are such arrogant bastards and don’t think anyone will find them guilty of anything.

Well, experiments certainly go wrong but since the catastrophic consequences of the disastrous drug trial here people have been a great deal more scared, sorry, responsible about new therapies.
And whilst either of these two theories would make a decent plot for a movie, mostly things go wrong for much more mundane reasons.
One guy gets hauled out of the ocean and is ‘clinically dead’ for 40-60 minutes, but makes a full recovery, and a toddler dies after drowning in an inch of water.
These things cannot be predicted; that’s why we do our damned best to keep the toddler away from the water.
