The US Casino Protectionism Racket

IF the US is the champion of the free market – give them what they want; the customer is always right; Sell! Sell! Sell! – why do American cops bust a casino and arrest the owners?

The pages of the Honolulu Advertiser are buzzing with news of how Federal agents and Honolulu police dismantled an illegal Honolulu casino.

The gambling den is thought to have “handled more than $10,000 in bets daily and allegedly helped a couple amass more than $7 million in cash and property”.

All power to them, you might suppose. Yong Sang Kim and Min Ju Kim, allegedly, raked in $3,787,300 in cash and bought or leased more than $4 million worth of property by running the gambling business and “other ventures out of various Honolulu locations between 2003 and July 7, 2005”.

In two years they made a fortune. Is this the American dream?

They are charged with running an illegal gambling business, conspiracy and money laundering.

But why not make the casinos legal and let the market decide who wins…?
