Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We are not in the market for selling Kate and Gerry’s story to the highest bidder. And we are not impressed by big names. We talk to media from all over the world”
But money is important. The fighting fun is running low

I don’t know how an Oprah interview would go for the mccs, maybe she’d let them jump up and down on her couch but Walters is so benign, she’d never ask any negative questions, not even to Hannibal Lechter————she is sickening sweet in her interviews.

But now that you refer to the point, I think they helped with it (Gerry’s blog, the way he tried to influence public opinion, their family friend and his camera), even if they didn’t see it as a circus. Could they have refused the very idea of a PR? I don’t know.

… We are left with very important questions, as how do we wish to bring up our children, how do we care for them, what attention to their real needs we are ready to give them. Questions about how far we are going to help the media go in their inaccuracy, disrespect of the readers, and marketing approach to information. Questions about justice, its indepedendance from the media pressure and establishment pressure. Etc…

There has been, in my view, a concerted attempt to steer public attention away from these questions by the media here.
Eisenhower made a very famous speech almost half a century ago about the military-industrial complex and its exercise of power.
Nowadays it might be more accurate to think in terms of the media-military-industrial complex and its exercise of power.
What is striking is that the McCanns response to their own admitted failure to care for their children is to call for legislation to increase the power of the state to impose police and military controls which will allegedly catch people who allegedly steal very small children who have been left alone in an unlocked apartment with no-one to care for them whilst their parents were having dinner in a restaurant well out of earshot and line of vision.
The thought that these powers are totally unnecessary, and a potential source of grave abuse of human rights, seems not to occur to the people calling for them…

I have never watched Oprah and only parts of a few Walter’s interviews. The only way I would watch the mccs on either show would be if I personally would be able to administer truth serum to each 39 y/0 dr prior to them being interviewed———————and I promise I would not overdose either of the 39 y/o drs.

“El Mercurio” is the most respected newspaper in Chile. It reports that Detectives from the Missings Persons Unit have been dispatched to a small city in the north, where a possible sighting of a girl with very similar features as Madeleine was reported to the police by a 40 year old refrigeration technician. The little girl was visiting a small museum with a woman and a man, who spoke a foreign language. The man resembles the latest picture published on the media about a possible abductor.

La niña de cuatro años, hija de los médicos ingleses Gerry y Kate McCann, ha sido intensamente buscada tras su desaparición en Portugal, lugar donde la familia vacacionaba.
De acuerdo a la fuente policial, el testigo del supuesto avistamiento afirma haber reconocido a una niña de apariencia muy similar a la de Madeleine, quien en la visita al museo estaba acompañada por dos adultos extranjeros, una mujer y un hombre.
Este último, de acuerdo a la versión del técnico, una de las personas que estaba con ella tenía características muy similares con el retrato que se ha difundido a través de la prensa en los últimos días.
