Chenier, I think exactly the same.
When I see apparently well-fed, well-dressed, pretty, smiling little children given plenty of expensive toys, but no one to talk to, no one to really listen, no one to understand that they can get frightened over little things, no one to be near them at night when it is dark and they cry, I feel like screaming. I think we are losing sense if we say it is all right.
Should it be the law which tells us not to make them feel unsafe, when even animals know that ?
It is easy to say we aren’t responsible, modern society is turning us into narcissistic types who need to look and live like celebrities, and our children have got to adapt themselves as well We are the society. We don’t have to comply. We can say “no” to friends who say “leave the children alone. They’ll take care of themselves. Come and have fun. Let us drink, let us be merry”.
We have enormous power over little children. They depend on us. They react according to the way we treat them. We don’t need the law to know that. Some accidents happen, even if we are very careful. But when accidents happen and we have put them in harm’s way, it is time to ask ourselves where we have gone wrong.

just an odd thing to do to call a priest when there is a manhunt on for your child, which alledgedly k didnt partake in but just sat on the sofa! probably reading the said bible. In her eyes she has probably been absolved of her involvment, been forgiven by god.

FYI the town of Vicuna is very, very small, almost like a village. There is nothing of interest except the small museum about Gabriela Mistral, which I have visited several times, including as a small child. If someone takes a child there, it is because it is the only attraction in the town. I state that I’m not saying Madeleine was there. I’m just explaining why someone could take a child there.

Strangely enough, some parents do take their children to museums to be inspired by the story of the person the museum is dedicated to.
Taking a little girl to learn about a woman from a less than leisured background who went on to be a great poet seems to me to be a good thing.
I’m not sure why you imagine that you are typical of all children, and that your parents are typical of all parents.
And given Mrs Cooper’s repeated claims about the distinctly unpleasant nature of the man she claims may well have kidnapped Madeleine it is nice to know that, if this is really what happened, he cares sufficiently enough about the child’s well being either to motivate her by an inspiring story, or to amuse her in a village you perceive as being boring…

I read all the reports of the different Chilean newspapers and most of such reports state that the child was “visiting” the Museum. I only posted the one from the “main” newspaper in Chile. In my opinion, this child could have been seen just outside the entry to the museum or inside. I don’t know.

However, you claimed that the McCanns are the ones who initiated this circus by contacting the media. I responded that this was inaccurate. For it was Jill Renwick contacted the media.
Also, the Mark Warner resort sent for an expert in dealing with PR crises. That is to say, they sent for an expert in media response to “disaster”. This expert was largely responsible for the design of the circus.

Just as my imagination was warming to the idea that the evil creepy sinister unshaven villain spotted by Mrs Cooper was in reality an ardent supporter of the arts in all forms and, in particular, the life and work of a woman who began to write poetry as a village schoolteacher after a passionate romance with a railway employee who committed suicide, and went on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

I agree with you that some Spanish sites or Portuguese sites are really interesting, and I got into them thanks to the links that the posters living in Spain and Portugal posted. I don’t really speak the languages, but can understand most of what is written, and I did appreciate to read those.
