Madeleine McCann: Tabloid Snap, Metodo 3 PD and McCanns Innocent
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “I’M NOT GUILTY”
“A loner who looks like a drawing of a ‘creepy’ Madeleine McCann suspect has denied any links to her disappearance”
Joaquim Agostinho says: “It’s not me in the picture. I accept that the drawing looks like me”
The Mirror reports: “The former cockle picker, who lives in Altura, 90 miles from Praia da Luz, added: ‘I did not kill Madeleine and I’ve never been to Praia da Luz. I cannot even drive’”
But still his picture is in the paper in connection with a story about a missing child. Fingers are pointed
MADELEINE in Chile. What news of that? “Yesterday, police ruled out a “Madeleine” sighting in Chile after the girl was identified as American Haylee Dreyer, six”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – Amazing lookalike: ‘I did not kidnap and kill her’”
Mr Agostinho looks like an artist’s impression of man whom British tourist Gail Cooper says she saw acting hanging around Praia da Luz. He is the “oddball”
Page 11: “DRIFTER MATCHES NEW MADELEINE SUSPECT”
Matches. Like in a game of snap? Snap! Snap! Snap!
“Investigators want to quiz a Portuguese drifter suspected of involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Detectives working for the youngster’s parents are to question Joaquim Agostinho, 42, in the resort of Altura”
Does he have to speak with the McCanns detectives?
“Mr Agostinho, who lives in Altura, said yesterday: ‘I did not kill Madeleine and I’ve never been to Praia da Luz. I cannot even drive.’ Altura is close to the Spanish border and detectives from Metodo 3 – the agency working for the McCanns – were last night travelling there from their headquarters in Barcelona”
Again, does he have to speak with private detectives?
THE SUN: “McCANN COPS QUIZ SUSPECT LOOKALIKE”
“Detectives are to quiz a drifter who looks uncannily like a mystery suspect in Maddie McCann’s disappearance. Joaquim Agostinho, 42, denies he is the creepy man depicted in a sketch issued by parents Kate and Gerry McCann
“But Metodo 3, the Spanish private investigators hired by the McCanns, are taking the possibility seriously”
Is Metodo 3 now a police force?
A source close to Metodo 3 says: “We are going to be talking to this man as a priority, to establish if he is the one Mrs Cooper saw”
What of the McCanns?
“COPS now accept Kate and Gerry, both 39, may be innocent in Maddie’s disappearance, it has emerged. They have so far clung to just one theory — that Maddie was accidentally killed and her parents disposed of her body. Now they are taking seriously the alternative that she was snatched from the holiday apartment last May — which Kate and Gerry have always insisted must have happened”
DAILY MAIL: “Is this drifter the man in Madeleine drawing?”
Mr Agostinho says no. He delivers newspapers for a living. He says he is innocent
Metodo 3 are looking to speak with him
DAILY STAR: “MADDIE: THREE MEN RULED OUT – McCanns’ new hopes shattered”
It’s not Joaquim Jose Marques – police have ruled him out; and the Star was so certain
It’s not the girl in Chile – she’s a girl on holiday with her family
It’s not Joaquim Agostinho – he says it’s not him
METRO: “Twins play ‘find Maddie’”
“Leading world sex crimes expert Ray Wyre” has met with Kate and Gerry McCann
He sees the McCanns’ twins children. Wyre tells the paper: “They said they were going to go and find the monster that took Maddie. Then they dashed off to play the game. It’s a sad story, but it is healthy that Madeleine remains a real presence in their lives”
“A spokesman for the McCanns denied the story”
Madeleine McCann: No news is still news

I am fed up with your diplomas and your boasting. I can believe that you got a high degree in law. So what? Some lousy doctors got a high degree in medecine. I wouldn’t take you as my lawyer unless my case was a bit shady.
If there are juries anyway, it means that in the end, justice has to be also in the hand of people who aren’t specialists. You make us all feel inadequate with your law science.
Incredible, but when law is explained by a good lawyer, it makes sense, it is clear, and it is not too hard to understand. And the lawyer doesn’t use his credentials as an argument.

Maybe not everyone is as happy to bend the truth as others seem to be?
If you have any degree at all then I may need to go buy some clogs.
Either that or you purchased it, or perhaps you have suffered a debilitating illness, for which I would be profoundly sorry and would take it into account when debating with you.

Salomon,
That appeal process? And the ECtHR cases that the Portuguese have won?
Sorry to keep reminding you, but it is quite a while now……

I should at this point spare you from further embarassment and explain to you that the European Commission - executive harm of the EU - is in Brussels.
Whereas the Allee de la Robertsau that I mentioned was in Strasbourg… where the great Palais de l’Europe hosts the Council of Europe and very close to the European Court of Human Rights.
As I’m sure you know the EU is a very different organisation from the Council of Europe - European Court of Human Rights.

So thats ….’BULL’….or maybe remove the ‘B’, separate the two L’s….’L L’….rooom for an ‘o’ I think…
So thats …. ‘LoL’!

You may be right (about the virtues of their campaign). But it’s difficult for us to judge because in reality we actively seek (and are exposed) to more information, details and discussions about this case than the vast majority of people in Britain.
It’s hard to judge. To most of us their messages and acts sounds well… ludicrous, but for someone that only reads bits of information it may not be the same.
For example: I think that a lot of people still look at the front pages headlines of the tabloids on the new suspects (who are not suspects at all), but then doesn’t really follow-up the details that it was actually a drawing paid for by the McCanns, that the blokes are completely innocent etc.
This may mean that a lot of odd behaviours and inconsistencies go unnoticed to most people and only the big headlines (most of which are spined by Clarence to sustain the abduction theory) remain as more visible to the general public.
Time will tell…

They are running out of munition
They are in a hurry, while the PJ don’t…
They are desperados
They need to much effort to hold the war (media, sketches, expensive private agents, witnesses in their payroll, sightings, good accounting for the fund… the machinery eats too much…
However, PJ only has to wait. Maybe their moment will arrive, or maybe not. In the worst scenario, PJ will give up and close the case. A cloud of suspicious will hang over their heads forever. Not a bad result. Although we hope there will be some much better. Lest’s them spend their energies, not ours (or the PJ’s)

Oh, and re “You go to the allee de la robertsau ”
Odd then, that the European Commission (which is rpesumably the reference) classes a British LLB as amongst the relatively few qualifications that are mutually recgnised across the EU….

Over here we usually know him as Solomon…same story.
January 28th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Solomon,
Yes, probably. On the other hand, their campaign is not for bright people anyway. Only someone who does not follow the case can be deceived by their spin. Or someone dumb. Or someone with deep child neglect issues.
They do not aim to be clever. Look at Mitchell, he acts as an open “liar without preparation” (only my opinion of course). He does not care that you do not believe him. He is after others. The same with the “sheep of the team”, however primitive their propaganda is , it will work by quantity, by volume.
By default, anyone who genuinely believes that Mc. did not do the cover-up, will either leave this forum (why hang out with the antis, when the whole press is pro, read as much as you like every day) , or after some time will look at all aspects and become an anti, as it happened with Observer, for example. So, those who go on and on defending, must be people with “wider agenda”.

“Yes I did King Salomon was the judge of judges”
Not sure that’s a qualification that the Law Society or the Bar recognise for entrance…….
You seem oddly reluctant to tell us what your actual qualification is?
January 28th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
491 Matt. Says:
“Any fear present is Fear of the Long Arm of the Law.”
So you say the parents do not fear for their child? That’s hurtful and ludicrous.

Yes I did King Salomon was the judge of judges.
There you are Inc Inc - those are my credentials - can’t get better than that…
LLB means little outside the great british isles. You go to the allee de la robertsau in strasbourg and ask what they think about llbs…
