Does he have to speak with the McCanns detectives?

And in the rest of the world, an Appeal means to an independent, higher court - not to the man who took the original decision.

And if I neede proof that you really want to weasel out of this….avictory, in a Court Case is a decison in your favour. A defeat is one against you.
Do you realise the scale of Portugal’s problems in this area?
12 Article 6 cases in 1999 7 where Portugal was ruled in violation, five settled by the State paying compensation out of Court;
18 in 2000 - 9 violations, nine out of court compensation settlements;
26 in 2001 - ten violations, sixteen out of court settlements
32 in 2002 - thirteen violations, eighteen out of court settlements, and one finding in the favour of the Portuguese state.
17 in 2003 - sixteen violations, one out of court settlement (looks like the portuguese state had decided to do it’s out of court settlements much earlier)
A mere eight in 2004 - all bar one violations.
And that’s the last year for which we’ve numbers.
“The portuguese criminal code has been revised as recently as two years ago… ”
Indeed, and was supposed to have introduced an eight month limit for Judicial Secrecy - but as soon as the system faced a challenge, it scuttled back for cover. And the McCanns may well be thr first test case of that.
On the basis of portugal’s track record, don’t be overly optimistic!

May I clarify a point fundamental to the McCann case?
Do you think that its acceptable to leave a 3 year old child and two 2 year old children alone in an apartment unsupervised?
I just like to ascertain peoples views on that point before engaging.

I only argue with them because they provide a good platform - its possible to shoot them to bits in full view of everyone here, as many have been doing today!
I think its damned odd that sledgehammer is so similar to increasingly incredulous, even having negative (to themselves) names. ‘Sledgehammer’ infers no finesse and ‘increasingly incredulous’ could easily apply to a person who cannot believe what the McCanns are doing!
Not very clear unambiguous names are they?

I am at a loss for the appropriate word to use and your self-opinion of yourself so remarkable that you even pontificated on here weeks ago what ages women should or should not have children.
REPLY to Jo: What ‘rage” do you speak of? The parents had counselling - you know what is really ‘weird’ - majority of parents who lose their child are given counselling and even seek counselling to be able to cope with the grief. Let’s take it a step further - the McCanns child is missing, as yet REAL FACTS are not known how she went missing. They are in grief over the loss of their child, they are on the receiving end of condemnation, scorn, innuendos as to what if any actually hands on of her being missing they are responsible for, their own guilt of leaving her alone…now tell me please, is it remotely possible in your mind that just maybe the list above could be the reason they are being given counselling?

Its like the way they say that WANT to talk to the Police - yet hide away in the UK behind their lawyers.
Do they not realise that if they were to have the status lifted, they couldnt hide behind it!
Of course they do, but then they’d claim not wanting to compromise the very investigation they compromise daily with their stupid attempts at being a police force themselves.
The fact is that being ’suspects’ has one very awkward effect - the public see them as labelled ’suspects’ and they can’t ask for money. ‘Money’ (or the love of it) is, of course, ‘the root of all evil’ as the quotation goes!

I really think that “Inc Inc like sledge” is just here to disrupt the forum and try to dictate the agenda.
I for one will just ignore him / her. I did try my best to explain things - but clearly someone was not very interested to understand - therefore - any attempt of dialogue w Inc Inc is IMO a waste of time.

It seems that although the UK has not accepted in full the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Portugal has.
The poster ‘Increasingly like sledgehammer’ does not appear to be legally qualified, judging by his or her lack of understanding and should be take to task for posting that they are. Its probably illegal to falsely represent oneself!
