WHEN is it too early to make a joke of a tragedy?
Rory Bremner’s Channel 4 show has a sketch:
Two men in a pub: “One of the characters says: ‘I don’t trust Gordon Brown… I wouldn’t be surprised if the night before the election he went on television and said ‘look what I found’ and held up little Maddie McCann.”
Says Ofcom, thre broadcasting watchdog: ”The idea that politicians might be insensitive enough to attempt to exploit the tragedy surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine McCann to their advantage was consistent with the general purpose of the sketch
“Whilst perhaps painful for some viewers to have been reminded of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, we concluded the suggestion that politicians might consider cynically using such an event to their advantage justified the inclusion of such a reference in this satirical sketch”
That’s the official ruling on a TV joke, folks. There’s another McCann joke here. And here.
You’ll be told when to laugh…

Kids go missing all the time; no one says a thing about it. No one takes it seriously. No one talks about it. And, so, it goes on and on. Little children stolen away forever. Why not joke about it; no one really wants to protect little kids. There are no alert systems in Europe for if they get into trouble. No one really cares about the little devils because if they did, this would stop. Jokes, why not? They’re only little kids with no rights after all.
++++++++++++++
Yeah I agree. We need an alert system for stupendously stupid parents who should not be left in charge of young children. That ought to cut down on some of the strain that will inevitably be placed on any European alert system for missing children that might be put in place.
*****************
We could do even better by sterilizing people who live in the slums. Their kids are bound to be criminals when they grow up. It solves also the problem of overpopulation, we need lesser prisons, less food, lesser taxes….. Oh dear, I’m really in a sarcastic mood now!
Unless that U24 of U25 hits us tonight! All problems solved exept for that we still would’t know what happened to Madeleine McCann.

U24 of U25?
Yours is a silly idea anyways! All those people you are proposing we should target will doubtless be used as “cannon fodder” by some future government on some fools errand somewhere in the world a long long way from the UK so that politicians can pretend like we still have an “Empire”. If the poor dears survive that, they’ll probably be the only ones daft enough to take jobs in the care homes that the allegedly better off amongst us will be sent to in the final years of our lives!
Bloody daft suggestions if you ask me! You didn’t? Oh well, I’m telling you anyway!

That’s astonishing. What’s the source for Dr Cooper being there?

But why don’t they say it then? Why do they do some diversion, and make up grotesque stories about the abductor? why aren’t the PJ told?
(I’ll go to the other thread, but a bit later as I have some work to do now)

What is your explanation then?”
The Coopers and the McCanns belong to the same target group. I would describe this group as people from the outer circle of the government - those from the inner circle would be too well protected by personal body guards etc. .
The plan was to kidnap a child from this target group. The Coopers’ child was on the list, that’s why George Harrison was spotting them.

DID GEORGE HARRISON TAKE MADDIE ?
NO, of course not, but we’ll print anything … no matter how pathetic”

“EXCLUSIVE TO ALL PAPERS
DISGUST AT MADDIE LOOKALIKES
There was revulsion expressed yesterday after it was revealed that all British tabloids were running Madeleine McCann lookalike articles on their front pages. “At first glance these lookalike Maddie articles fool you into thinking they are genuine news” said one salivating reader, “but if you get past the sensational headline you quickly see that these lookalike articles are nothing more than the same rehashed empty speculation. ”

I can’t see how complicity could work. You could argue that unconsciously, they were asking for trouble. It is the problem with split personnalities, if such is the case. They are certain of being good parents and of wanting the best for their children ; yet they put them in harm’s way, and the denial of their own aggressive tendancies is so strong that they will never realise what their behaviour means.
According to me, it is a risky charge if you want them to be charged.
Better wait and see what the PJ know, and have evidence for. I am sure they have enough to raise a number of disturbing questions. I don’t think they’ll be t a loss for charges, if they charge.
What worries me much more is the press and the public’s reactions. They don’t want the truth, they know it was an abduction, they know the MCs are telling the truth, they know that they are victims and that it is unkind to doubt their word, they know Portugal is biassed against the MCs and they know the PJ is unable of professionnal work. With the armada of smart lawyers operating, and the involvment of powerful people from industry, with authorities who are reluctant to miff the public with a scandal (if any), you get a good picture of how difficult the case will be for justice to prevail.

I think we all are a bit.
I hate conspiracy theories because I always worry that they’ll end up in some kind of Kristallnacht but maybe the McCanns do have friends in high places protecting them?

That’s interesting isn’t it. So far the links are NHS, Medics, Radiation, PFI, Construction, not in that particular order! Oh and Media.
I’ve been curious about Gerry’s comment in his blog - words to the effect that - he is pleased that the message is being spread far and wide. Putting my conspiracy hat on, it could be a veiled threat as in if he does say something the estblishment would rather he didn’t, a lot of people all over the world are going to hear it.

What you just discovered is very important. I wish all the newspapers mentionned it.
It is now obvious that the witnesses aren’t simple passer-bys, and since they omit mentionning it, it is a proof that they are helping at the diversion the PJ talks about.
