I’m not a supporter of conspiracy theories, but there is definatley a delay on the part of the UK government. Do we have any other cases to compare it too? ie do these letters tend to get sat on for months or is this case different?

According to the Portuguese paper they should have had an answer within 10 days!
Have read of similar cases where approval to question has been passed within hours.

I have heard that the Mirror forum was shut down because a lot of the members were asking questions about the Rogatory letters being sent from Portugal and were lobbying MP’s etc.
An official response was apparently given in that no assistance had been requested BUT that wasn’t the question.
It apears that the rogatory letters were sent early in January it was supposed to take 10 days but up to date there has seemingly been NO official acknowledgement……..(No surprise there then!)
Do you think we can all start informing as many people as possible of this ? because it certainly won’t be in the UK daily’s!!!!

For those in the UK, or with UK voting rights I guess, the following will find your MP and then offer various ways of contacting them:

If you contact your MP and ask them to question the relevant Minister you’ll make more “work” because they can only do this by writing to the Minster themselves, which in turn requires a written response from the Minister which then has to be forwarded in writing to yourself. i.e. If enough people ask enough MP’s someone is going to start getting very grumpy about the work that is generated, hopefully!
Short, polite and to the point communications generally work best, in my experience.

Let me apply some Team McCann logic here for you, Deb.
It is highly natural for a witness to make their reports of suspicious people to the police back in May 2007. But it goes against the grain to regurgitate these reports publicly 8-9 months later. The natural inclination of people is to stay out of the spotlight. So why are these “helpful witnesses” risking the glare of the spotlight? They are not helping the police. They are only serving the purposes of Team McCann. This fact should intensify the glare of that spotlight.
To dumb this down a little, let me say that it is the informants responsibility to come forward and clear herself of any potential illegality or conflict of interest. . Isn’t that what the McCanns have said about the man who did nothing but look menacing to X, and ask her for money?
I note that suddenly press reports have changed “X” to “X+”. Moreover, on the Mirror Forum (Jan 21st) there was an observation that “X” of Newark had the same address as “XY”. XY is closely associated with the nuclear radiation protection issue.
In a previous post, I called X a “top dog”, but my spelling was not hip enough. H!
