Madeleine McCann: Four, Three Men, DNAboost And Risk
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY STAR: “Cops slam pics of Maddie suspects – Innocent people are put at ‘risk’”
“Four” people who look like the drawings inspired by holidaymaker Gail Cooper have now been questioned by police
So says the Star. Although on closer inspection Jose Marques plus Joaquim Agostinho plus a Portuguese builder in Gibraltar makes three, not four
Celebrity criminologist Francisco Moita Flores says: “It is manipulation and propaganda.” No, not the Star’s reporting, rather the sketches
DAILY MAIL: “Fourth man questioned in Maddie e-fit probe”
When is an e-fit a drawing? Compare and contrast
The Mail sees the Portuguese builder questioned and then freed. “At least” three other men have been questioned
THE SUN: “SUPER DNA ‘WILL CLEAR McCANNS – They welcome new-style forensic tests”
A tiny sample is, reportedly, found in the McCanns’ Renault Scenic hire car. How did it get there? From her clothes, say the McCanns. “Another theory was that Maddie’s younger brother and sister may have similar DNA,” says the Sun
And there’s a new test. It’s called DNAboost. DNAboost “can separate or ‘clarify’ profiles and unravel tiny samples”
With DNAboost what you thought had gone comes back with a bang!
DAILY MIRROR (online): “McCann pics fury”
Always the “fury”
Police in Portugal “claim Kate and Gerry McCann are hindering the probe into missing Madeleine by releasing sketches of the possible kidnapper.
One detective says the drawings were too vague and could “identify dozens or hundreds of people”
“But McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell hinted more sketches could be on the way ‘if we get any more information’”
THE INDEPENDENT: “Alastair Campbell: The Cudlipp Lecture”
“In an era of more pages, more space, more access, more talk, there is less said and done that is truly memorable. Even in Dacre’s apologia he could only draw on Stephen Lawrence – again - as the story where he felt the Mail made an impact and did some good. Similarly, in his Mactaggart Lecture Jeremy Paxman said the BBC constantly pointed to Planet Earth as evidence of good TV combining with good ratings, but did so precisely because it is a rarity. And with every front page screaming headline that doesn’t quite deliver the big story, every exclusive that isn’t, every whooshing breaking news that isn’t really breaking news at all, every new twist in the McCann case that isn’t a new twist at all, the public gets a little wiser every time”
We recognise the spin, says Mr Campbell – “Media spin to fill media space.” And we might even recognise the irony…

Why on earth would the government want to stop the due process of the law? I think we have been into this point before and decided that the PJ will be able to have the McCanns back if they really want them. If the government were to stop this due process, it would be in big trouble. The whole country would stop and smell a rat…….

To be honest, I think they were just holidaying doctors who forgot their responsibilities and were met with a disaster.

I agree with you there! I really don’t do conspiracy theories.
I do disagree (politely!) about contrition. The fact that they haven’t vocalised how much they regret doing what they did doesn’t mean they don’t spend every waking moment regretting their decision. and I bet the others spend every waking moment thanking God or whoever, that it didn’t happen to them.
IMO of course.
I just don’t think they did anything to them other than by default.

Mere doctors could not mobilise the astonishing protection and unparalleled propaganda campaign we are witnessing. IMO

I would agree with you if it wasn’t for the obvious support they are getting from high up. Unfortunately, too many conspiracies is actually helping Clarence to do his job.

Val, sorry I didn’t reply to you in the early hours. I must have gone to bed just as you came on the forum. And yes, I looked at Xklamation’s post and I think there’s something very funny going on. How high does this reach? What on earth is all the desperation about?

Fully agree, I think events have simply overtaken them.
However, that is no excuse for the way this is now being dealt with.
How many lives are they going to ruin - The two Drs McCann, the twins, the rest of the Tapas 10, the McCanns’ extended families, all the “suspects” resulting from the dodgy sketches (more to come?!?), Robert Murat, his mother and his girlfriend, Gail Cooper, the two sisters, any other tame witnesses, several Portuguese policemen and officials, Comical Clarrie, and of course Madeleine (who seems to have rather fallen out of the picture recently)……… any more to add? (I’m sure there are many)
January 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Ian, I think you will find the whole document is relevant, the part about who decides if there is a case to answer is very blunt, it will be the CPS and not the Portuguese. That is unless the Portuguese execute a Eurowarrant, which the CPS could still advise the Home Secretary, was not in the interests of justice and to therefore refuse to execute it, for whatever reason.

I’d agree with that.
However, it doesn’t preclude government involvement after the ‘disaster’ which might well touch on conspiracy theory due to the GM links with government.

If we assume there are discrepancies in the Tapas 9 Statements which the PJ need to clarify, whose recollection will be believed? It” s highly unlikely any of them will remember exactly
what they said and if the original witness statements have been recorded then they will stand. The testimony of Restaurant and Bar Staff if different would be more believable if they
differ substantially if it is true the Tapas 9 had been drinking a lot. It is disappointing if true
that the Home Office are deliberately delaying permission…………we know the McCanns Lawyers are ready to pounce if the DNA evidenece is introduced Can”t help wondering why the McCanns have not gone voluntarily back to Portugal, you”d think they would be only too
willing to remove their Aguido status , by helping with enquiries. IMO

I think Clarence Mitchell’s Agenda is to starve the public of news on this case, shut down the journalists, and drain the forums of their energy. ………..

I can’t see how the issue of Mr Sketchy and the press conference he held ties in with what you have said. Quite the opposite I would say.

I think that if any of the Tapas people were to be witnesses, it would be imperative that they appear in court. I don’t think testimonies from absent people would be adequate.
January 29th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Marie Nicholas I don’t think it’s necessary their physical presence as witnesses.

I think Clarence Mitchell’s Agenda is to starve the public of news on this case, shut down the journalists, and drain the forums of their energy.
After that, they will control the legal procedings in closed door sessions.
It should be illegal.

If there is a trial in Portugal, is it absolutely necessary that the Tapas friends are there, if they aren’t charged themselves? Their testimonies can be read in court.
January 29th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
I am sure that the Mccann’s legal team has advised the whole Tgroup how to avoid the case going forward.
January 29th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
What is the sourcing for the emergence of Dr Cooper and his involvement with radiation issues? Was the PDL ‘convention’ connected by the Nuclear industry – and not Common Purpose or pharmaceuticals? Perhaps, all three!

Mods and Admin
There is no proven involvement by Dr Cooper in any of this, the sourcing was purely rumour about another matter entirely ,we have opted NOT to run with it

I’d be happy with a little humility regarding leaving their kiddies alone as they enjoyed their ‘family holiday’.
Anyway, how are you today?

The arguidos can refuse point blank to answer any questions or cooperate with them at all, under English law. http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/news-and-publications/publication/operational-policing/MLA5thedition.pdf?view=Binary

I think you’re right and that maybe what the PJ are trying to do now with other Tapas. By naming them suspects they expect them to come out and say what really happened.
But the reason why I ask if it’s too late is because now everyone already knows that all evidence seems to points towards the McCanns.
Whereas if the PJ had turned on O Brien and Tanner for example (before revealing the evidence against the McCanns) these two (who presumably know what happened that night) would most likely think that they were at risk of being done for murder. The only way out for them would be to come clean.
This of course is just something that may be completely wrong… and of course it’s easy to say now…

Well if thats the case we will jst have to shoot them then!!
